Many Things Influence Movement
There are many things that influence movement, I’ve shared some of them in this video. I forgot to mention a few important ones which are awareness, nervous system regulation & self-compassion.
It’s important that we understand our beliefs about posture, movement, exercise/physical activity. Our movement habits & the variety of movements that we have available develop over time & we can change things.
When working with people with persistent pain I explore many different aspects with them including things that could be influencing their movement, their nervous system state, how they are relating to themselves & the world around them, the trust & confidence in their body, along with what helps to makes changes.

Rules Impact How We Respond
มุมมอง 58หลายเดือนก่อน
A short video sharing a few thoughts around rules and how they stop us hearing the messages of our body. Rules are part of what can stop us flexibly responding in the moment to what's needed and doing so in a way that is aligned with our athletic selves. There are many ways this impacts us including in the management of persistent pain, ME/CFS, long covid and other long-term health conditions. ...

Connect to the Earth, Ground, Let go & Nurture
มุมมอง 1043 หลายเดือนก่อน
This is a short somatic & embodiment practice to connect to the earth, let go of what doesn't serve/what's not helpful, and bring in a quality from the earth that supports you right now and embody it. It is a practice that can be done sitting or standing. As I mentioned in the video the practice was inspired by a practice in a Somatic Internal Family Systems Therapy book by Susan McConnell. The...
Connect, Ground & Let Go
มุมมอง 2993 หลายเดือนก่อน
This is a short gentle yoga practice which can be adapted into sitting if standing isn't ok. In the beginning you are invited to do a somatic (body) check-in and then ground yourself through connection to your body & the earth, this is followed by some gentle movement and a letting go of what doesn't serve you right now/what's not helpful, the practice finishes with another somatic check-in. Pl...
MindBody - More Than Interlinked
มุมมอง 96 หลายเดือนก่อน
Sharing some reflections on mindbody including: 👉🏻 They are not separate 👉🏻 Our head is not separate from our body 👉🏻 Society & our conditioning encourages disconnection from our whole being & from nature 👉🏻 The importance of language 👉🏻 We need to compassionately reconnect to our whole being, to our connectedness with nature (we are part of it) and to others 👉🏻 Reconnecting to our true self & ...

The power of micro movement
มุมมอง 109 หลายเดือนก่อน
I did some thoughts of the day on a Sunday for a while on social media and some, like this one, are really important to remember so I am posting some of them on this TH-cam channel too. Movement is powerful, all humans and everything on earth is in motion all of the time, we are in motion even when we look completely still. There are micro and macro movements happening all of the time within an...
What is nervous system regulation?
มุมมอง 109 หลายเดือนก่อน
I did some thoughts of the day on a Sunday for a while on social media and some, like this one, are really important to remember so I am posting some of them on this TH-cam channel too. Nervous system regulation is not always understood accurately, it doesn’t mean to calm down which is a common misunderstanding. I share some thoughts on nervous system regulation in this video. #nervoussystemreg...
We are in motion all of the time
มุมมอง 129 หลายเดือนก่อน
I did some thoughts of the day on a Sunday for a while on social media and some, like this one, are really important to remember so i am posting some of them on this TH-cam channel too. There are many varieties of movement, the benefits of exercise and physical activity are widely known. We are always in motion, it isn’t always the physical movement we can see. Our primary language is the langu...
Learning and integration
มุมมอง 59 หลายเดือนก่อน
Sharing some of my reflections on learning and integration. It I important to take time to slow down with learning and take time to integrate things, giving time for things to weave into what we already know and unlearn some things sometimes too. We need to listen to what we are understanding cognitively and we also need to learn from the body’s wisdom and blend these together to create deeper ...

Great to hear that you enjoyed the practice, I hope to be adding more here soon. I put a couple of practices on social media recently that might be of interest as they can be helpful in a number of ways including if sitting a lot. I can’t add them to my channel as I recorded them without audio (I added the audio directly via social media). These are the links to them on Instagram (also on the Unity Physiotherapy & Wellbeing Facebook page): instagram.com/reel/C8ZzLveCma8/?igsh=MTk4M2s5em5kZGFpOQ== instagram.com/reel/C8cKHUMiwoY/?igsh=MW8xMTdvdDVlMG9rZA==
