If you're looking for one of the greatest (just my opinion) Zelda 3 "unofficial games," please try out Parallel Worlds. It's difficult, but it's absolutely incredible. I cannot recommend it highly enough; if you have the means and the know-how, please try it.

I'd add "Ghosts 'n Demons" a fan remake of Makaimura (Ghosts 'n Goblins) for the Japanese WonderSwan handheld.

Lots of great suggestions here on the comments, I have to add Quantum Conundrum as I loved the "lost kid on a crazy scientist mansion" theme, and the humor was great while keeping it mostly kid-friendly. Changing the physics to the fluffy dimension where everything is light, to the heavy dimension where everything is metal blocks was very fun. It also had some platforming, which made the game more dynamic that the ones that are pure puzzles. I played both Quantum Conundrum and its DLCs when they came out, and I really remember it fondly.

How do u play these

These are great. But, if I were the developers of some of these games, the developers could have taken the IDEAS of these games and just change the title, the characters, the music, the sprites and made it their own so that they won't be dodging Nintendo, etc. Using the IDEAS and creating something new is completely legal.

Great list! One that you missed but I'd put at pretty much the top of the list is Environmental Station Alpha - one of my favorite Metroid-likes period. Also, yay, someone else who played Rex Rocket, what a great little gem!! The same dev went on to make the Blossom Tales games which are great classic Zelda-likes.

Wow! Great list! I never knew these games existed. I hope Konami, Capcom, Nintendo, etc... would give these fan-made games a chance. Just for once they would make one of these games official and see how it will take off. It will definitely be history in the making for the gaming industry.

I knew about Simon's destiny for a long time and it's freakin' amazing to play and really widens your mind seeing everything throw Simon's eyes and extremely good!

I wonder why companies don't hire those people to make game sequels or spin-offs. Well, I admit that they already hired developers and there would be a conflict with the contracts, and famous names that the fans prefer to unknown indie developers although they can be excellent in their job.

I dunno about this list. A lot of these games look obviously unpolished / bad. What good is a remade Castlevania is it has as bland of level design as we see in this video? Seems like you might be one of those people that just likes any Metroid-style game. Mega Man Maker is the only one that I can be sure is any good based on the footage you provided.

Great to see this stuff. I think our gaming future is going to be more and more about returning to the past. I just finished watching a video about how car games have become less fun the more realistic they make them. I long so badly for a new numbered Burnout game!

I will contribute "The Sealed Palace" (3D Zelda) and "Jiggies of Time" (Banjo-Kazooie) as games that may as well be official entries in their respective franchises. And AM2R of course.
