Native Rubies At The Sheffield Gem Mine In Franklin North Carolina
The Sheffield Gem Mine is located in Franklin, North Carolina, and is known for the native rubies and sapphires that have been found there. Affectionately nicknamed "the home of the honkers", this mine offers both native and enriched buckets where you can use the sluice to sort through and find rare gems and minerals.
The pond full of blooming Lillys and fancy swimming koi fish made for a beautiful view while going through our buckets. We really appreciated the help we received from Richard while sorting through our native buckets, and we will definitely be investing in a better uv light for the future! We hope you enjoyed the video and hope to see you out there on the next one!

We Camped At The Rose Creek Campground While Gem Mining For Rubies In Franklin North Carolina
มุมมอง 19919 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
We don't often stay in Campgrounds, due to the fact we like to be in more remote areas that present a more private experience, but this time we decided to make our base camp at Rose Creek Campground. The campground is nestled in the beautiful rolling hills of Franklin North Carolina. There are both tent and rv/camper sites available, and if you're looking for a more unique experience, there are...
It Was A Steady Uphill Hike On The Bartram Trail To Williams Pulpit In Franklin North Carolina
มุมมอง 2314 วันที่ผ่านมา
Another beautiful hike in North Carolina! This one takes us through a 4.5-mile, out and back section of the Bartram Trail. The Wallace Branch to Williams Pulpit trail section follows the general route traveled by a naturalist who explored the area in the 1700s and is also where the trail gets its name. The path is relatively clear, but mostly all uphill. This trail will certainly give your legs...

👍✌️
We still haven’t been able to get after the rubies yet, looks like a good time
We had a great time and the property there is beautiful!
YUM!
Dang, those steaks over the fire looked amazing, I haven’t been there yet & didn’t realize they had a campground there too
Thanks! The campground is actually owned by different people. It's a pretty nice campground though!
Max didn't seem to be struggling at all!
Yeah he had his 4 low locked in😆
Where is this location at?
Lexington County, South Carolina
Very nice e
Thanks!
Did anykne see the face to the left?
I didn't see that! I will have to check it out!
@@ScottandLauren it's on the rock nose eyes
Cheeks and mouth
Chin..looks like a native face any way they are beautiful
I'm down in there somewhere. We get our NPR signal from near there.
I was there a month ago. What a gorgeous place! I've wondered how they've fared in Franklin, Sylva, and Dillsboro as well.
We have spoken to a few people in Franklin, and things weren't too terrible for them. They certainly have a long road ahead of them.
Thank you for the beautiful view, we have a few ourselves here at Big Bend Ranch State Park....a Ranger says hi.
Hello! Glad you enjoyed the views and thanks for watching! Looks like we need to take a trip to Texas 🤩
Ive been trying to find videos on how this sylva, Dillsboro all the way out to this area did. I know the river goes through all those towns.
Many areas seem to be recovering quickly, but some areas will certainly take some time to get back to anything remotely normal. Here is an update from the Franklin Chamber of Commerce page on Facebook... facebook.com/share/p/xtrHMy6Q11udrkLp/
Awesome activity with the beloved family ❤❤
When I worked at the NRA National Park Service we were told to fill these caves under the ok-a-bah marina bldg with cement and the caves had a whole lot of crystals in them.
That's crazy! I guess they didn't want anyone getting to them. Lol! I'm guessing safety reasons?
Great scores, I got some good news on a spot today!!!
Cool Deal! I'll be in touch 👍
That’s a cool one, I got a little news on a spot I found a while back
It's beautiful like Lauren 🤩
Thank you! 😊
❤😊wicked find congratulations 🎉
Thank You!
This stuff looks amazing!
Thank you!
Hey there, it’s Jesse. Everybody is onboard with the TH-cam channel
Does felspar polish well?
The pieces I've seen seem to but we've never polished any ourselves.
Absolutely gorgeous work my friend, shots are so nicely composed!
Thank You! Glad you enjoyed the video 👍
I’m so jealous❤
Do you mind to tell me where the location is?
Conover North Carolina 🤫 Check out the group Digging with Daniel on Facebook to gain access to this location!
I found one of those two I’m going at the start of October again❤
That's cool! I think they're really neat!
Same
Hey, I meant to ask your thoughts on a few of us putting together a channel for the rock club itself when we have group events, it seems like something that folks might be interested in, maybe even a shorts channel for uagmc
Yeah I think it would be a good idea. I guess we would have to work out the details for sure. I also think having a live stream or something at meetings would be great for those who can't be there.
Very nice crystals, thanks again for those ones the other night, I was getting dragged away , I might make a quick short , I’ll see if i can guess where they came from 👍
I reached in and just grabbed some so I don't even know what's there! Glad ya liked them and yeah post em up!
This is fantastic! TY for recording and sharing this. I particularly like the blue beryl, indicolite tourmaline! (I hope you are getting that faceted or cabbed), Amethyst points, jasper and mexican fire opal (I have several pieces I need to cab with my dremel tool)
Thank you! We have not had that one worked yet, but we do have it safely stored away for the future. 🙂 We just love the variety that you can bring home from Rio Doce Gem Mine! We really need to start learning how to cab these pieces ourselves!
Hey guys, congrats on finding some nice crystals. I am an older collector who now can't get out and do much due to health issues but back in my day 70's, 80's, 90's I use to go all over North Carolina digging rocks. We found good crystals from the Uwharries in central NC up to the Raleigh area and all points west. Rockhounding certainly is a great hobby and its getting harder to get access to good spots anymore for sure. Anyway.....lots of luck to you and I hope you hit it big!
That's awesome. I'm sure you have an amazing collection. I hear those were the hay days of rockhounding... before so many areas became virtually impossible to access. Thanks for the encouragement and for tuning in!
I'll be at the Patty Mine on Sunday, November 3, 2024, with my friend Rick K. My real name is Lee G. Look me up. Special thanks to Mr. William Patty, one super mine owner, who helps out rockhounds. If only more were like him. Respect his mine property, and leave a signed Release of Liability form (You can find blank forms online if you Google for them) for each participant at the mine office under a rock by the front door. That's all he asks and remember... Only on Sundays. Holidays might be included too, but call the mine in advance and ask for Mr. Patty. Don't forget to say thanks. Be safe, be cautious, and mind your kids. It could ruin this wonderful resource if someone gets hurt for being foolish.
Hello Lee! It's good to hear from you. Yes, we are so thankful for people like Mr. Patty! November should be a great time to visit the quarry. Good luck out there. I know you'll both find some great pieces to bring home.
Someone is a dare devil
Find any cool rocks?
You know we were looking! Lol! There were some nice river rocks out there!
Sweet
What a view! I enjoyed our walk🤣 Worth it. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching! Definitely worth it 😜
Did you end up seeing any crystals there? I’ve heard that you can find them, I’m just not sure what the collecting situation is like
We didn't see any crystals with points but there was some kyanite I believe at the summit probably others also but from my understanding you can't collect from a state Park.
Its looks yummy
Yummy cinnamon bread
It's amazing how often rocks look like food and food starts looking like rocks!
We're in Marion NC, headed to the falls right now
Sweet! Have fun and be safe!
Yup thanks for the video, we have 2 kids and were wondering about the hike difficulty... this helps!
This is a great trail for kids. To get to the Mica Mine you have to cross the creek at the observation deck. If you follow the trail to the right when you get to the top of the stairs at the falls you can hike to the top of the falls.
How was the trip? Hope everything went well!
Awesome finds!!!
Thank You!
I bet, I’ve seen some other people’s videos & they used Indian tanks to spray around & get stuff wet there
I could definitely see that working well!
Looks like a great time, seems like the rain really helps out there
The rain definitely helps! It makes for a bit of a messy day but it brings out the color and helps to reveal those crystal pockets!
I hope you guys have protection out there
We do have protection but we've never had to worry about using it too much. But it's always better to be safe than sorry!
@@ScottandLauren I watch too many horror movies & cryptic shows.. Terror In The Woods made me a believer!! ❤️
❤❤❤❤❤
Max had his 4 wheel drive engaged!
Yes he did!
My water shoes were not so great for this uphill hike!😂
Is there any place around to swim?
No, unfortunately, there are no swimming areas. They do allow fishing and kayaking.
How was the water?
The water was very refreshing! We bottled some for ourselves and some for family back home. I already wish we would have brought home more. We will definitely be making another stop here the next time we are in the area.
Wow, what a great collection of crystals, I bet it’s gonna be a hot one at Diamond hill this weekend… that was a huge chunk of amethyst too, I love seeing people doing good there
Yeah it's definitely gonna be a hot one! That lady broke out the smaller chunk and handed it to me and I was like nice then she turned around with that huge chunk! 🤩 She found that digging during the eclipse dig. There's definitely some good stuff at Diamond Hill for sure!
Yeah, I’ve seen a bunch of nice stuff coming out of there lately
Imim from Statesville.... Its 3 miles from Hiddentie. I LOVE this place
This was our third trip to the Emerald Hollow Mine and the first time we actually found crystals. We were very excited to come back to the spot where we had good luck but unfortunately they had chained the area off and had it posted Restricted area No Trespassing. It was very disappointing and we didn't have any luck finding crystals. It's a beautiful location though. Hope you have better luck than we did! Maybe we're not looking in the right place but we have only found crystals one time out of four trips.
@@ScottandLauren the best and easiest way is the sluice buckets. You don't have to dig get the ones already there. That's what I do. I typically walk out with LOTS of crystals and gemstones
