Diversity the thought enricher
The more people you meet, the more different they are from you, the more will you be enriched. This is the topic I explore in this video - how diversity is the thought enricher in business.
We are all connected one way or another, it’s how the world works. And creativity comes from meeting diverse people in business. Diversity spurs creativity.
A simple way to be more creative is to embrace people from different backgrounds. Connect their thought processes and experiences with yours, visit new places, and if you can, try and learn a new language.
In the words of Adam Galinsky: “There is great comfort in the familiar. It’s one reason humans often flock to other people who share the same interests, laugh at the same jokes, hold the same political views. But familiar ground may not be the best place to cultivate creativity. Multicultural experiences enhance creativity.”
So take a moment to pause & ponder:
► When did you last meet someone from a completely different background?
► Do you readily reach out to people you don’t know from before when in a group?
► When is the last time you did something for the first time?

How to build client relationships
มุมมอง 56หลายเดือนก่อน
Clients are the reason why businesses exist. If there’s no customer, there’s no business. I have always encouraged my team members to remember that it’s the customer pays our salary, not the boss. In this video, I explain what we did at our business to bring our own clients together, how the movement grew, and how it deepened our client relationships. When I set up the Center for Creative Think...
The business case for emotional intelligence
มุมมอง 293 หลายเดือนก่อน
We all know about the importance of emotional intelligence. But in a world of work driven by knowledge and increasingly by AI, while the focus on knowledge is aplenty, the focus on emotional intelligence is often a lot less. It is hard for a business to remain profitable over a long period of time without paying attention to its emotional quotient. Since the heart drives the mind, organizations...

มุมมอง 495 หลายเดือนก่อน

But as we gain experience, training and responsibilities, over the years we develop excellent domain knowledge. In doing so we are developing deeper and deeper knowledge. But to become a T shaped leader, we need breadth too. There will come a time in o...

So why do we still use these names if they are detrimental to team unity and culture building? Sometimes you need to recognize barriers that are normalized in a business and tear them down in order to make impro...

Why is culture so important to organizational success?
มุมมอง 5310 หลายเดือนก่อน
The person at the helm of affairs sets the tone for the culture in an organization. Others merely reinforce whatever spills from the top. It is like a waterfall. The importance of culture is rarely questioned, but why is it so important to a successful organization? If you ask me, culture is the single most important success factor in business. It's the glue that binds successful companies toge...

Why self awareness could be the most important leadership trait
มุมมอง 120ปีที่แล้ว
Today I'm exploring why self awareness is so important for successful leaders. In author Daniel Goleman's writings, he defines the four competencies of emotional intelligence, and the first is self awareness. So what is self awareness in leadership? Self awareness is about knowing your strengths and weaknesses. For example, if you have a short temper, self awareness is both recognising this, an...

Babu, It is pretty good. At the end you seem to speed up. Try to get the same speed of talk. Next, Try to get away from the wall, Can you put a screen behind you or get an open space where we just see you and the wall behind you. No distractions on the side. Also, you have kept the conversation precise and short. That is very good.

The tyrannly of the Bell Curve is hard to ignore. I have often said - thedemeaning corporate rules we make demotivate 98 good persons, while the 2 crooked ones outwit the system anyway. That is one reason why Nordstorm has only one rule - use your judgment to decide what is good for the customer. When in doubt, err on the customer's side. Cheers!
