Well that looks class
Cheers mate 👍🙏
Thanks for making this. It was a great adventure and this is a wonderful capturing of it. Love all the details. Hank trampling the map! 😂
Cheers mate, thanks for the invite & hospitality 🙏 great weekend 👍
You are an excellent filmmaker. Thank you for your visuals and poetry.
Thank you so much, that’s very kind of you 🙏 thanks for watching and commenting 👍
Another great video - thank you. New subscriber playing catch up so excuse a question you have probably answered several times but which Brompton model are you riding, have you made adaptions and would you recommend what you have for such adventures? I believe most Brompton TH-camrs are using the 6-gear C line version.
Hi, I’m using a 6 speed flat bar Brompton so I think in 2019 it would’ve just been called an S6L. Ive since added titanium fork + seatpost + mudguard
@@self-propelledfun thanks for the info. Very useful. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos 👍
@andrewroche2815 all said, the new G line 8spd will be the way forwards as it’s designed to be used for this situation. We’ve always just made the Brompton work for this purpose because there was no folding alternative. Exciting times - Thanks for watching 👍🙏
Mate we are all waiting for the next Brompton trip video. Someone is dragging their feet!! Pozdrowienia z Polski.
Haha thank you 🙏 things are busy at the moment but I’ll see what I can do
Class
Thank you 🙏
Hiya! Awesome video, the shots you got are beautiful. Just a curious question, were the coastguard ok with you camping here when you contacted them?
Thanks for watching! Yeah they were more surprised that I’d actually told them than anything else. I just didn’t want a crew to launch because someone had seen someone on the island and called it in
Uwielbiam twoje filmy, są inne takie nie przesadzone, spójne z właściwą minimalistyczną narracją. Są inne niż większość filmów na YT dlatego są super.
Thank you very much - very kind words from you 🙏
Another good'un. Loved the barb wire shot and of course the sun spot on the ocean.
Thanks so much mate 👊
Loved the creepy night scene. Had some sort of Werner Herzog feel to it. :)
Thanks! That’s high praise indeed 👌 cheers for watching 👍
Another cracker mate. Beautifully edited. Would be nice to get a list of equipment you use, camera, stove, coffee you like etc haha.
Cheers mate! 👍 three main things outside of the Brompton itself (and I appreciate there’s a couple of £100 here but I don’t own a car and this is my thing): * MSR Windburner Stove - anytime it’s windy and you don’t have shelter this is the best * GoPro Max camera - everything that’s got me in it from a distance near or far * iPhone 12 Camera - all the other bits * Aeropress Travel - compact espresso / coffee brewer, absolute must. * Espresso Coffee - no compromise on espresso, normally Lavazza
@@self-propelledfun Perfect! I was interested in the stove because anytime ive tried boiling water outside in any sort of wind it required several objects (or mates) surrounding it to get it to boil in a decent time haha. Look forwards to the next one.
@traderbean-btc485 yes mate, used to have a trangia, tried pocket rockets and they’re small + light but if you want a brew in the wind then MSR Windburner 👍
Wonderfully relaxing.... 😊👌
Thanks Jay 👍🙌
Wow, that sky looked ominous 😊 Great relaxing video as usual 👍👍😊😊
Thank you Paul 🙏
Must be getting close to a new morning coffee ride with a view 😊
Yep, you got me, been a bit slow of late - but with the smell of spring cut grass I feel alive again. I’ll get on it. Cheers Paul 👍
Class
Cheers Sion 👍
Ah, so that's where you've been since your last video! 😂😂 How cool is it that an 'older dude' can rock up to a skate park and bust out some moves 😎👏👏👌 I remember deciding (with a couple of mates) to try learning to skate at the age of 29 and stupidly attempted to drop in on a steel vert ramp for the first time....I didn't manage it and landed on my knee..6 weeks later and i was able to walk properly again 😂😂😂 I sold my board after that 😅
Haha, yes time’s flown between videos and yes at this age it’s very much use it or lose it 😂 dropping in on vert is hardcore, I did the same as you when I was learning many years ago. Missed the transition and landed on all fours from 12ft. I feel your pain 🤛
Quality!
Cheers J 👍
So impressed!! If this was one of my films I’d have to include the nearest A&E in the title!😂
Cheers Stu, hoping to avoid A+E 😂 hoping you’re all good
You literally do it all dont you mate haha, mint videos all of em.
Haha, cheers mate you’ve literally made my day! Very kind of you 👍
Class. Very nifty work and good editing
👍 thanks mate
Good choice for a micro adventure!
Thank you Greg, thanks for watching 👍
If I'm right your not a million miles away from the old Margam abbey. Theres been a few weird rumors from the woods around there locally.
Sounds ominous! Glad I didn’t hear them before my stay 🤣
I can remember being able to get into the old fort part when I was younger. It was still open then. Now it's walled by the lighthouse. Been tempted to camp there but never have. Enjoyed your video.
Lovely video, soundtrack, and narration, and a very moving tribute to your grandfather. 😍
Thank you John, much appreciated 🙏
Where can I get that tent?
It’s a Hilleberg Akto you’ll find them online. Expensive but quality for years of use in tough conditions
Sick video I’m gonna go to this trail well that’s if I can find it
Wales for trails! Hope you find it, enjoy!
Sadly much of this is threatened by and will potentially be lost to the proposed Skyline Swansea development :-(
Have you tried this route in reverse? It makes for a great downhill run from the Green Man to the top of the zigzag path down to the archway entrance.
Thanks, yeah horrific in reverse on the climb though 🤯
Ridiculous level of excitement from me at seeing there was a new ‘Brew with a View’ video! With apologies that you’ve probably been asked before - which model Brompton are you riding - C line?
Ha! Thanks @zoemac74 that’s cheered me up! I bought before the new lines in 2019 so I’ve got an S6L (flat bar 6 speed + added the mud guards afterwards)
Very nice video, was trying to work out what camera you were using, was it a 360? Ive been filming many of my recent Brompton day trips (including camping) on a smartphone but footage not as nice as yours, just ordered a dji gimbal hope that improves things.
Yea a GoPro max 360. Although for most the phone camera. Hope the gimbal works out for you. Thanks for watching 👍
Outstanding-bravo.
Cheers Stu! Hope you’re well? Will be playing catch up on your vids soon
@@self-propelledfun I’m good thanks and hope you are too. I’ve just got back from a very wet hike up in the Scottish Borders which will be the last for this year I expect. More time for the bikes though 👍
Thank you Geoff. Yes a GoPro Max 360. Great for capturing everything but a lot of editing even before film editing. I use a smartphone for all the static shots though. Glad you enjoy Brompton outings as much as me
! My Brompton has taken me to many, many village and beauty spot benches for a meal deal lunch and a brew. But ssshh - mustn’t tell everyone or our peaceful ways will be invaded by the hordes ! 🤗
Too true! Thanks for watching 👍
Beautiful video 😉👌
Cheers mate! Hope you’re racing well
@@self-propelledfun it's been a good year of racing for me.. bagged bronze at the European cross duathlon a few weeks ago 😁👍 .. will I see you at Afan Extreme in November?
Congratulations mate, that’s an awesome result! Taking a break from racing and see how it goes
Lovely relaxing video 👍👍😊😊
👍 thanks very much Paul
If you turn left at the bottom of the track to the cycle path instead of right, you end up by the railway pub don't you?
Yep 👍
@@self-propelledfun yep there's two tracks side by side each other, that lead down from the top when you come off the gravel track, if I remember rightly. I took the track to the right tearing down the steeps into the deep woods. Came out at the bottom onto the concrete cycle path, and picnic tables on my right, and the railway pub just up on the left.
That was gorgeous, thank you.
Thank you Robin 👍 much appreciated, thanks for watching!
I know which Wearhouse that was 😂. Going past Swansea by any chance?
Ha! That’s the one! 👍
@@self-propelledfun I literally went for a site visit there a few months back. If you go past it next year, look out for the new entrance gate house below the yellow stair tower, should be finished by then
I was just like you, scared of noises, set up a camera 8-12 different camping sessions, not once was there no animals around sniffing my tent. I got over it, they are just curious, sniff around and walk along. Need to add that our biggest threat are bears, but they are not aggressive at all.
Thanks for watching! I do not like the sound of bears 😳 luckily there aren’t any In this country unless they’ve escaped from somewhere.
Congratulations! What a fantastic achievement and you captured wonderful footage to bring it to life - such hard work and commitment rewarded!! 🎉 🏆
Thank you so much Miriam! Much appreciated and thanks for watching 👍
Great vid. The magpie footage made me think of The Detectorists: very calming. Thanks for including the tent scene! My boys and I enjoyed that! 😂
Thanks mate, until someone else pointed it out I didn’t realise how close I came to losing it in the sea. Glad you enjoyed !
I loathe the wind, but I may have braved it for those views. Some fantastic footage - spectacular sunset and keeping it real with the tent battle. I was surprised you stove kept alight!
Thanks Hollie - yep I’m always learning and mostly the hard way! Likely used three times the fuel leaving it so exposed. Yes the views, solitude and a fire make it special. 👍
Brilliant mush. I was up there yesterday came off and ripped my thumb out of it's socket, i was on the trail just up from the pond with the jumps and steep drops over the embankment just above the concrete walk path. Great video. Thanks.
Thanks very much for watching! Thanks to the Clyne riders we get to hurt ourselves up there. How’s that thumb today?
@@self-propelledfun thanks for your kind response. I was up there on Friday just gone, less than 10 minutes from my home in mumbles it is. I was walking with my missus up the trek just having a nose about seeing where I went wrong (got to be around it see). Nice to walk it slowly the different tracks and see how dangerous it is, lol. Yes my hand is in plaster temporarily. Should be coming off in about 10 day's time. My ADHD impulses see compel me to peddle faster than I should, my fear levels as a neuro-divergent are a lot less lower than neuro-normals. I still get the fear of going to fast downhill, round the burns, over the jumps etc. But it's a lot lower than normal people. The process of that fear and the conclusion could be nasty accident, I get about 5% Whereas a normal would get after the conclusion of the process of fear about 80% That's why I end up doing crazy daredevil shit, Ha 🤣🤣🤣 lol. As a child I wanted to be a Stuntman, in a strange kind of way I ended up one, lol,my missus is the same with her ADHD and the process of fear, she wanted to be a stuntwoman as a kid to. Though she's more of a BMX flatlander, tricks on the pegs etc. Bless you.
Another excellent adventure. 😊😊 You was so lucky keeping hold of your tent when the strong wind caught it 😳😳.
Haha, thanks Paul - I did a lot of swearing and sped the video up so it can’t be heard. I now carry a tent peg with me if I’m recce-ing a site to test the soil depth 😂
Really enjoyed this one mate. I too, like your Grandfather have battled some Congers at Hunts whilst fishing for Bass in my early 20s. Wonderful for you to have shared some memories there with him. Its a special place for sure. Always find myself walking the cliff tops around there, turning some rocks over and peering into rock pools in the bay when i get back home. Look forward to the next one. 👍
Cheers mate! Good to hear from you - I’m not deliberately trying to make you homesick with each video 😂 lucky to have these places to go to. You’ll be back soon visiting I hear?
@@self-propelledfun haha, yea, every video is bitter sweet! Back at the end of July for 6 weeks. Can’t wait mate. Hopefully I can catch some of that nice weather you’re having!
Great Video 👍
Thank you, thanks for watching!
Another really nice film so nicely constructed. We’ve all done the battle with the tent in the wind but so glad you included it!😅 At one point I thought it was sea bound. I nearly lost one of mine on the east coast cliffs near Whitby and since then I carabiner one guy rope to the Brompton until I’m in charge again! 😂 I enjoyed this one.
Ah thanks so much Stu, it’s only just dawned on me that it would’ve been game over if it’d gone. I’ll definitely use your mooring method next time. Yeah, it’s important to show the bits that don’t go smoothly. Thanks again as always 🙏
❤
Amazing achievement and such a good film as always. Very well done.
Thanks very much Stu. 👍 you’ve been quiet, you good?
@@self-propelledfun Yes all good. I’m setting off soon to hike Hadrians Wall coast to coast so I’m looking forward to that. It will probably be my next TH-cam venture and it’s a week where all I have to do is put one foot in front of the other. Perfect.
That sounds like an adventure! Great stuff 👍
This is awesome, and congratulations - great result 🤘
Thanks very much 👍 much appreciated
Brilliant, I had no idea there was so much history on that little island.
Thank you, there’s more than I included - a machine gun position used to cover the causeway in WW2 from the island too. Thanks for watching 👍
