Pozdrawiam z Polski :)
What's the spacing between the catnip? Thank you 🥰
That looks like tea time right there for me for months. I throw the greens on salads too. And obviously the neighborhood cats as well as my own congregate and socialize around it at night under the lamppost and the butterflies and bees love it by day.😊Great video on a wonderful herb. I gotta upgrade from my foraging basket to your harvest apron👍that thing is cool and holds a lot.
Are you able to just strip it, and still leave the trees standing? Or does it rot & kill the tree after you cut its protective layer?
I’m excited to harvest! One plant showed up in the garden a volunteer. I loved when magic happens in the garden:)
It would be cool to see the plant in the ground. I am pretty sure I have lyme disease, and I think this might be growing in my garden, but I'm having trouble identifying it.
Nice video but nowhere does it teach you how to grow echinacea. I won't be watching any more of your videos.
I'm having a hard time getting this to grow. Tried to transplant twice from plant at neighbors house, no real luck. Seems to die off in the soil. What is the best soil to plant in? It may be too little sun? Or something funky in the soil? Moved to the house a few years back and previous owners seemed to use a lot of standard fertilizers and weed killers. Will it grow in a pot? Thank you!
Thank you Michael :)
You harvested at the wrong time of year, shouldnt have to use a knife. You’re getting wood in there too. It peel like a banana when in season
For anyone curious about the uses of this plant, here's an except from a book I'm reading: "Among its other properties, Oregon grape root is antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, antiparasitic, a gall bladder stimulant and a liver cleanser. It is used as an effective treatment for giardia, herpes, systemic fungal infections (candida) and blood poisoning, as a strong liver tonic to aid the liver in cleansing and improving nutrient absorption, to fend off the common cold and for many other conditions. The part used is the root bark, which apparently contains strong medicine throughout the whole year, though some prefer to harvest it in the fall (I don’t). The bark is simply scraped off with a knife or whatever you have-it should be bright yellow, this is the medicine you want. A general-use tea is prepared by gently decocting (simmering) the root bark in water. I use a palmful of root bark to a liter of water decocted for 15-plus minutes. After pouring off the brew, the plant matter may be rebrewed a couple of times, a bit longer with each successive brewing. The decoction will be a deep yellow-orange colour and have a strong bitter flavor." Thanks for the guide!
In the old moon-shining days the bootleggers would bury barrels of their mash to hide it from the revenuers. The bootleggers would check how the mash was doing by taking a long stalk of Joe Pye Weed and lowering it down into the barrel and take a sip to see how along it was. I'm from South Carolina and they also call it "Purple Plume". The stalks are hollow all the way, just like straws.
I’m here 08/08 six years later and my wild goldenrod has already peaked and the stiff goldenrod is about to peak - crazy to think it used to be more common in September just a couple years ago…
Just made a tincture of this.
This self seeds in my forest garden every year in Kentucky.
Can tea be made with fresh leaves and stalks chopped up?
Not recommended! Partially wilted raspberry leaves can be harmful and should not be used. Raspberry leaves contain tannins, and continued use of partially wilted leaves may irritate the kidneys or bowels. However, dry leaves and twigs are safe to use.
very bad video
haha we know! The quality is terrible but the content is what's important for folks who are seeking this info.
Great video. I'll add betony to my herb/pollinator garden next year.
I wish you’d talk about the medicinal uses… Last year I grew some, dried some flowers and leafs, tinctured some, but I’m not really sure what to use it for… 🤷♀️🤪
Where I live we call it chandelier bush people use it for the flu
@@mervynsoo8353 Thank you! I’ve read that the tea can give relaxing effects, even euforic, but I’m not sure yet… 🤷♀️
do you just hang them upside down to dry them? Then grind up and use in a tea? I have a plant that I'm growing and I'm not quite sure how to utilize as medicine. Thank you for your help. :)
How to grow: Order seeds. Plant in little starter pots. Move to larger pot as it grows. Transplant to ground sunny spot. Lightly feed with 1 tbsp fish emulsion in 1 gallon water. Watch it take off
No way, my neighbor has this stuff growing in their yard! I had no idea you could smoke it! I'm going to ask them if I can "borrow" some :) It's a very beautiful looking plant, whether smoked or not. Great video
It resembles Monarda, or bee balm. there are two "more addictive" Metal vibration plants: they are Areca nut palm fruit, which is the primary ingredient of betel nut chewing, and 2) ephedra spp., which are actually gymnosperm shrubs (just learned this!!). Thx for sharing. ❤❤
Enjoy your videos
Wonderful to see more videos from you, and thankyou for dealing with the volume problem!
good job!
Can you use the leaves dried for tea?
Heck, I threw seeds into a raised bed in a greenhouse six years ago and it's still chugging away.
Motherwort is also great for anxiety and depression. Definitely one of my favorite plants.
Hi Skeeter! I can’t believe I found you on TH-cam! This is jungle Joe from Saskatoon. Sending you a big hug. Thanks for showing me about Teasel!!!
This definitely is our African basil. I'm growing this one and the taller Indian one
According to the NIH, 21% of cases (that's one in five) of schizophrenia are MISDIAGNOSED cases of Toxoplasmosis. It's an infection of a protozoa (cousin to the protozoa that causes malaria) that creates cysts and when they grow in the brain, they cause psychosis. The NIH also says that artemisinin, from Artemisia annua (Sweet Annie) is what kills the protozoa. You'd think psychiatrists would give all their psychotic patients a trial of artemisinin but they don't-they just keep patients coming back until they eventually die. I gave homeopathic Artemisia vulgaris to one relative who was diagnosed with "incurable" "bipolar with psychosis" and another relative with so-called "schizophrenia." Both recovered 100% and are free of mostly-worthless psych drugs and the "experts" who prescribe them. I'm pretty sure they both contracted Toxoplasmosis from our sick cat. - Linda, author of "Goodbye, Quacks - Hello, Homeopathy!"
my cat tends the cat nip plot, i think he planted it? nepita cateria
I’ve had my white sage for 4 summers. It freezes in my greenhouse, but this keeps coming back in spite of not watering much in the winter. Maybe that’s the trick?!?
Love your bucket attachments
What time of year or plant stage should the roots be harvested?
Nevermind, I heard the question at the end. Early spring as they are emerging 🙏
Mine is being attacks by orange beetles, I’ve been spraying Castile soap….. plants are still suffering also some primrose on my property has the same pest beetle
Dried chopped licorice root soaked in water overnight will make a fantastic drink, it is a traditional drink in the Middle East. I do not know if the American licorice route will have the same taste or effect as the European licorice root .
Really helpful Thank you!
Can we buy this from you...
I don't want people in the southwest to be discouraged about growing Valerian. I have been growing it in my Albuquerque yard for 20 years. Lousy clay soil and very hot summers. It is a popular plant in our neighborhood. Soo, it may not flourish at the same level as elsewhere, but you can grow beautiful plants. It is my tried and true plant and has surpassed many of the drought tolerant plants in my yard. Happy gardening!
Can the leaves be dried and used for tea? I just harvested a bunch and need to know
We try to grow it in a Mediterranean climate, it is a wonderful plant, but it needs additional watering because summers are dry months /mm. 3-4 months below 30 millimeters
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Very nice video. Thank you for this
Dress like Afghan make the video more realistic
Ty Skeeter for your wisdom. But cutting the branch is not like taking hair from the dog. It's a limb. It grows back but the tree still feels it. ❤
Mr. Pilarski, I am thrilled to see that you are capable of growing this plant. When you harvest the seeds, may I request you to sell the seeds for me? I will bear the cost of shipping if you want. I will furnish my details if you communicate with me through this comment section. Thank you for the video.
Aha, just bought an old farm Lots of these. They are about 12 feet tall and in a great location. How to prune? Or do i need to? Its not in my way.
