You also can apply other abilities like in Mandalorian yellow deck that you put this card back to the owner hand and then you can discard it, as discarding is not defeating 😇
First Round. You have the initiative. Playing Scanning Officer and hit 1 or 2 smuggling Unit ressources from the opponent. (Since you were going First, his ressources were ready). Does the opponent have to play the new top deck ressources ready or exhausted (in the last case, you would completely denie is round)

Hey, thanks for the great question! According to rule 1.5.4.B: "Each non-leader unit and resource enters play exhausted. Upgrades are neither ready nor exhausted" -> Yes, your opponent does put his resources into play exhausted. To further support this, think of Superlaser Tech. His ability reads: "You may put this unit into play as a resource and ready it."
You can also steal it, like with Traitorous.

Waylay and traitorous are good cards to use as well.
Yes, they are! I actually try to have waylay in hand when playing the Phantom, in order to counter Traitorous!

Thanks guys! I find Evacuate too risky to rely upon. Pretty expensive and with so many cards having When Played abilities, you might get yourself in trouble. In certain cases it might turn the tides, but I still hesitate to add it to a deck.
What's the interaction with Cad Bane's effect if I have Tie Phantom and one other unit out. Can I choose Tie Phantom and then then no damage hits similar to power of the dark side as you described?
If you have the Tie in play, you can pick this unit to take the damage and it’ll take zero damage. It’s a great equalizer for Cad, Bo-katan, Vader etc
Yes! It essentialy allows you to make "opponent chooses a unit, damage/defeat that unit" abilities to fizzle.
This makes sense. In MtG cards often say “target player/opponent sacrifices a creature”. So if SWU card said “target player defeats a unit they control” things would be different. So far SWU card say target opponent chooses a unit, and the card itself says defeat the unit, so the action is coming from the card still and not from the player. Thanks for the clarification!
Glad you found it useful! Sometimes it's a struggle for MtG players (myself included, although it's been quite a while) to get into a different mindset when it comes to applying rules. The power of habit I guess 😅
Hi, I just wondered about “Strike true”: A friendly unit deals damage equal to its power to an enemy unit. Should this also defeat the Phantom? It would be the unit that applies the damage. Thank you!
No, that's exactly the same as his overwhelming barrage example. Watch that part again.
According to the official additional ruling that was issued: " Lurking TIE Phantom can’t be damaged directly by card abilities that deal damage, regardless of how those abilities deal damage." It might be the fiendly unit dealing the damage, but it's doing so through Strike True.
plus you can use Traitorous on him

Good stuff man! The phantom is cool. I think as long as you have a plan for it when deck building that it is fairly easy to deal with.

This is a rule that needs to be clarified. If you play Change of Heart on Krayt Dragon. Who is dealt the 6 dmg? Since change of heart will transfer ownership and Krayt's ability will trigger and resolve after the change. The original owner would still choose for 2 reasons. 1 if the new owner were to choose the opponent playing a card is now a false statement preventing the ability from taking place. 2. Much like Krayt being vanquished the dmg would still be dealt even after it leaves play. Hope this helps.

@@Oneidos_Gaming yeah think the biggest question is does the bold text for activation happen. Then when the non bold text happens does the cards controller choose. The only scenarios that make sense are the damage will be done to the player who played change of heart/change sides. From there it's who gets to choose base or unit. This would make the most since due to the bold text being true. The next part is do SWU abilities work like Bossk or a traitorous Superlaser tech. Since when SLT is stolen and defeated it becomes the opponents resource. In following this example the new controller could target their own base or a unit. If we use Bossk being removed from play it would still do the 2 dmg. Then it doesn't matter where the unit is the original owner is the one to choose where Krayt does the damage. Yet, in either case the bold text trigger happens and resolves by the player who controlled the card at the time it was triggered. Thus for consistency what makes the most sense (imo) is since Kyrats bold text was activated by the original owner it should be completed by the original owner.

I've been wondering about an interaction with the Tie Phantom. If the card can not be damaged by enemy card abilities and I have a shield on the Tie Phantom, will the shield be protected from events like Open Fire or damage pings likes Vader and Palps leader abilities as well?
The unit is a valid target, and the shield is defeated. You are effectively not dealing damage to the unit
@ItsMe_K3 Is the shield a separate target from the Tie Phantom and not a part of it like other equipment or keywords? How is the shield targeted over the unit as a separate target when the shield description says, "If damage would be dealt to attached unit, prevent that damage."? How is the shield defeated when no damage is being dealt from the Tie Phantoms ability to prevent damage?
@@philipyauch5858 Good question! Since shields prevent damage dealt to the unit they are attached to and phantom can't be damaged by enemy card abilities, I'd say the shield doesn't pop in these cases. In fact, shielding the phantom leaves your opponent with even fewer options to deal with it (return to your hand, -X/-X it or use Force Lightning and turn it into a firework)

Summer vacations are "mandatory" when you have kids... Timing could have been a bit better, I missed prerelease. Some of my preorders arrived just the day after I returned though, so I can't really complain ;)
Did you face any supply issues? Some stores over here are reporting a 75% allocation.

Two rules questions that came up at prerelease last weekend. 1. Does Bossk leader unit double collect bounties if he dies as the attacker? 2. How does Ma Klounkee work with Cad Bane leader? Does the Ma Klounkee resolve before the cad bane trigger? Also for the future how does that work with bossk unit? My assumption is ma Klounkee resolves completely (bounce and damage) then I get to decide the order that cad and bossk resolve.
@@Gamer3171 Thanks for your comment! 1. I'd say yes. 2. Yes, Ma Klounkee probably needs to fully resolve before abilities triggered by playing it resolve. (Same as with "when you play an event" abilities). I think that card specific clarification rules will be provided in the near future for such cases.
@@Oneidos_Gaming would love to see a video on #1. Everyone keeps saying that it would only collect once since when the bounty is triggered bossk is already defeated so he cannot see the trigger. Love the content!

New video is up, answering the second part of your second question. Regarding your first one (explanation was too short to base a whole video on it): People were indeed right, Bossk leader unit only collects once if he dies as the attacker, since he's not in play when the bounty is collected.

it's not often that my army training fails me. let's face facts, i know what makes the grass grow and i know what makes the grass green. one thing they did not warn me about... the absolutely insane torture techniques the greek military trains it's members in. geez! the sound of ripping paper and the silent shuffling of non-legendary cards should have been played over loud speakers at saddam husein's palace. he'd have given himself up within 22 days. geneva convention, shmuneva shmonvevtion. hell yall, i'd scream my own self but the dogs and cats are all having nap time. and i get agitated if someone interupts nap time... even if'n it's me.

when the reprints drop and the prices level out, i want to acquire a "you're my only hope" in hyperfoil. i swear though, in my head, when i hear that line it sounds like "you ARE my only hope." am i insane or is everyone else crazy? edit: nope. it's me. go figure. i blame the mandalabra affect.
There's so many cards (even common ones) that I want the Hyperfoil versions of... I'll probably have to settle for a complete foil set though. One step at a time!
i'm betting on two legendaries and a showcase. i got a "hunch." (as in, i saw two booster box videos in a row last night that had a showcase on the bottom of the box and one legendary near the middle and one near the bottom.)
