Today I take the time to go over some of the top things you should know before buying any GM W-Body Cars, based off of my knowledge and experience with this platform. The GM 'W' Platform was a midsize sedan platform used in the 90s and Early-Late 2000s, for the most part, but was used by Chevrolet until 2016 for the Ninth Generation Impala. Although My Visual Aid is an Older W-Body, many if not most of its attributes will also apply to the newer ones, since not many major changes were made to the platform during its nearly 30 year production span.
It was the foundation for many GM Sedans, some examples being the 2000-2016 Chevrolet Impala, 1990-2001 Chevrolet Lumina, 1988-2008 Pontiac Grand Prix, 1997-2005 Buick Regal/Century, 2005-2009 Buick Lacrosse, 1988-1997 Cutlass Supreme, and a few others.
Although some of these cars are quite old, many of them can still be found rolling around, some over 30 years since they left the factory. Like any vehicle, they come with their fair share of imperfections, of which I go over today, using my 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP as a Visual Aid. Overall these are great vehicles, and with the right care, they have been known to last to 250,000 miles and beyond! I hope this video helps those in the market for a W-Body!
