Thanks for this video! I am in Australia too and was considering a LUBA but you may of just saved me some heart ache as I have a 2 story home with about 250 m3 of lawn surrounding to mow. I think I could located the RTK station with good coverage but the house would probably block out the mower when it is mowing much of the yard. Any recommendations for an alternative? A mower with LIDAR like my roborock vacuum maybe?
So it looks like the battery is possibly replaceable???

I m thinking of buying this one but I m not sure how ti behaves when you are searching for a cable among other cables. Looks like even at level 1 of sensitivity it still sounds so if you have 5 cables close each other can you find the one you are searching ? (connected to transmitter) ???
How is it at mulching leaves?
I am worried about keeping the dock and robot during storms / potential hail - should I keep it under a patio or is it not an issue?
ive got a feeling it did not cut the edges well, from what I have seen on the sped up part it was not cutting grass close to the stone pavement. Can you bring up a bit about edge cutting from your experience?
Great explanation in the video! If you're interested in exploring high-precision positioning technology, I recommend looking into Kinvey GNSS antennas, especially for automatic lawnmowers and autonomous vehicles, as they significantly enhance positioning accuracy and help devices operate more efficiently.
Brilliant video!! Thank you! I installed a mower for my sister today and after a while this exact problem started happening. Luckily her’s is a wr140 so she will be able to install the old firmware. I have 3 of these mowers in my very large yard and absolutely love them. My place always looks so good!!
Can you pls do a comparison video as well. ThanksZ
Hi would like to see more on quality of cut please
Thank You ... I am still looking at getting a robot mower due to advancing infirmity, but not sold yet. Having to buy a whipper snipper also is a pain, but you guys explain very well the reasons why .. I appreciate this .. onto the next vid on my ever expanding list : )
If they would implement a quality gyroscope, they could navigate indefinitely without a signal. Maybe the next version...
But I thought the robot uses radio signal to connect to the reference station? so as long as the robot can talk to the reference station it shouldn't matter where it is? radio will work through many obstacles?
This video is incredible! This answered more of my questions than any redit post, manufacturer instruction or other youtube video.
honestly they should just have an option to package a detector with the systems. You will have a break in the first few months then you waste days figuring out how to do this. Great video, when I did this something odd happened where my detector was pinging around 100 just sitting in the middle of the yard? then when i would go to the wire it would get up to 250 range. Have no clue why and it was only back yard not front.
I wonder how much light it needs. Maybe just giving Luba a nightlight could keep it from resetting.
What gradient is your yard at the steepest part by the stairs? I’ve got a couple of hills I’m unsure on before I buy!
Thank you! Very informative video that is just what I needed to optimize the position the base station of my newly purchased Luba 2.
Great video, thanks for taking the time. Will help a lot as a new segway owner i found a lot they dint explain why it needs to be set up a certain way. Understanding how the tech works really helps. The missing part for me was not knowing how the base station communicated with the bot, but now i do. Cheers
Can a broken rear axle be repaired?
Hello! Could you make a recommendation for a robot mower? I live on about 6 acres and I need something that is capable of handling that much area. What would be your choice? Thank you.
Can you add the off road tires they offer and see how it handles the slopes?
I tried the H series and let me tell you I hated it. The antenna hated my property, the charging station was not happy being to far from the antenna and the robot refused to work despite living right next door to the antenna. Segway sent me the iseries, and I’m in love. Easy setup, charging station in my back yard and the antenna is about 60 feet away. No signal issues at all. The iseries is the way to go.
Thanks, glad you ended up with a suitable robot. The iSeries is a great product.
Hi great video on the I Series, one other handy feature that the 4G connectivity does is give you the ability to enable the Geo fence without it you have no anti theft 😊
Thanks for sharing
The navigation through the gate is impressive! I’m on the fence between the navimow and the Yuka for handling 2 disconnected sections of my yard
We haven’t tested the yuka yet. But compared to Luba 2 the iSeries does navigate my yard better. I have found that if the is no GNSS signal the iSeries does not navigate well. It requires some GNSS signal to work.
@@robotlawnmowersaustralia7913 Thanks! I’m keen to hear your thoughts on the Yuka when you get the chance👍🏼
😄👍🌹
Thanks
Thank you.
You're welcome!
I get the wire missing error only when the robot is at the station. So it won’t operate automatically nor start any routine, in the end the robot just powers off.
This usually means that the robot is loosing its charging connection when in the charger. So check that your charging connections on the charger and the robot are clean. Use some steel wool to clean them.
Why rely on RTK or GPS at all? Why not have 3 simple antennas transmitting very low frequency and use triangular coordinates. Using GPS seems like over kill and has lots of problems. In other words, we don't need our position on earth. Need our position relative to a point in your yard.
I agree with your principle however many companies have spent significant investments in similar tech and have not succeeded to get the accuracy required. iRobot launched the “Terra” back in 2019 and it failed. They then sold the tech to Ecovas and they have now launched the G1 Goat. This robot is ok for simple areas but is not able to be used on larger properties and requires almost direct line of sight with the beacons. So at this time it seems that RTK GNSS combined with camera vision is the best option. Robots like the Luba 2 and Segway iSeries work really well to combat the issues RTK has. Then there is all the LiDar and Slam tech that is coming. Again most companies have persisted for years to develop this tech without using RTK, but most have fallen back to using additional RTK positioning to navigate in open spaces and fall back on the LiDar in areas with no GNSS. So as much as agree with your comment, it seems it has been incredibly difficult to achieve. Thanks.
I've been saying this for Years , I'd rather buy 10 bases for my yard that rely on a space station.
The speed of light in air is: \[ \text{Speed of Light in Air} = \frac{\text{Speed of Light in Vacuum}}{\text{Refractive Index of Air}} = \frac{299,792,458}{1.0003} \approx 299,702,547 \, \text{m/s} \] Now, using the same approach as before, we can calculate the time error for a 1 cm accuracy: \[ \text{Time Error} = \frac{0.01}{299,702,547} \approx 3.34 \times 10^{-11} \, \text{seconds} \] This value is still approximately **33.4 picoseconds**, as the difference in the speed of light in air versus vacuum is very small (a reduction of about 0.03%). Clocks capable of achieving time accuracy within 33.4 picoseconds are extremely specialized and expensive, typically found in scientific, military, and aerospace applications. To give a sense of the types of clocks that can reach this level of precision: 1. Atomic Clocks: These are some of the most precise timekeeping devices available. For instance: • Cesium Atomic Clocks: They have an accuracy in the range of 10 nanoseconds (ns). Cesium clocks are less precise than needed for 33.4 ps accuracy. • Optical Lattice Clocks: These are state-of-the-art clocks with potential accuracies reaching femtoseconds (10^-15 seconds), well beyond the 33.4 ps threshold. These clocks can cost several millions of dollars and are found only in top scientific laboratories. 2. Chip-Scale Atomic Clocks (CSAC): While more affordable, they are still not quite as accurate as required here. These typically offer precision in the microsecond (µs) to low nanosecond range, and they cost around $1,500 to $10,000 depending on the model. For a clock to be accurate to within 33.4 ps, you would likely need an optical atomic clock or another similarly advanced system. These could range from $500,000 to several million dollars, depending on the precision required, calibration, and application. In practical terms, achieving this level of precision is usually part of a highly specialized and controlled environment, like those used in national time-keeping institutions or for advanced GPS systems. So, even accounting for the atmosphere at 100 feet above sea level, the timing accuracy required for 1 cm positioning precision remains around **33.4 picoseconds**.
What about wifi strength as in uk wifi is pants..can i set it up indoors for better wifi connection then take it outside for the rest of the setup
It only uses the wifi to communicate when you are not connected by Bluetooth. So you can still use and set up the robot without wifi. You might need to have the robot near your wifi to do the initial pairings of the robot to your app and also for firmware updates.
@robotlawnmowersaustralia7913 thank you, and keep up the brilliant videos 👍🏾
I get an E1 error (same mower) but my boundary wire is perfectly fine. It measures 2 Ohm. Output is 24 Volt on the probes. My main problem is that I can only start it manually and it does a good job and also returns to home. However, after charging, I need to pull it out again and start it again manually. It would be nice to solve this puzzle.
Sounds like you have dirty charging contacts. Try cleaning them on the charger and the robot with steel wool and metho.
@@robotlawnmowersaustralia7913 Thanks. Yes you are right. I cleaned all the dirt inside and now its working again.
I am planning on building a plastic Yuka house for my Mammotion mate. GPS is blocked by aluminum and even wood, but plastic and fiberglass should be fine.
Sounds like a good plan to me.

There are certainly some bad experiences out there. I don't know your specific experiences, but I believe the customers that have these negative experiences simply just don't have the support they need. And maybe given the right advice before purchase they may have found that another product would be more suitable for them. Or that no Robot Mower would be suitable. Thanks for sharing.
is there a reset button inside? I have a update failure at 69% at my new Yuka, now nothing works anymore, hes dead, stuck in the update.. dont want to send it in :D
Sorry there is no reset button inside. If your Yuka has failed its update and you are now unable to connect to the robot via BT or WiFi then all you can do is cycle the power to see if you can get the connection back. If you get the connection back then you should be able to restart the update process and hopefully it update ok.
@@robotlawnmowersaustralia7913 mammotion seid, there could be a bug that bricks the updateprocess. They don't know yet, but we testet everything possible and nothing works. I will get a new one
The Mammotion Luba seriously sucks!!!! It is Chinese so..... I probably wouldn't have purchased it if I knew it was Chinese. I have always had bad experiences with Chinese Products. They never perform as stated by the company. They seem to always be about image but have no substance. I purchased one of these a year ago and it was difficult to set up but I eventually got it. There were many issues with this thing but I managed to work around them. Tech support was almost non existent. The only place to get support is chatting through their app and that is buggy and constantly loses connection. You have to wait for a tech to answer because they are constantly "experiencing a high volume of inquiries" and you have to wait in a queue that tells you your position in that queue. The queue can magically grow and your position moves backwards (like from 2 to 14). Once you get the chat with a tech, you can magically get disconnected when the suggested fixes don't fix anything and the problem proves the be more difficult than a restart. I figured maybe it was just new stuff and should get better with time and updates. Yeah right!! This was the situation when I purchased the unit a year ago. Now with all their upgrades it actually seems to have gotten worse. Now their GPS location system seems to vary by more than a foot and as much as two feet. In places where I had spotty location info a year ago now have no location fix at all. And yet they still have 22 to 27 co view of the satellites. The RTX is viewing the entire sky and sees 39-40 satellites. So if they can't get by with 50% or more co viewed satellites, the tech must be flawed. And don't get me started on the app. You have to use the phone app to do everything with this robot. The app started out clunky and just got retarded with each update. Side Note: This thing keeps an open connection to a Chinese server. A high security risk to have with a country that has vowed to hack the USA. This is a great idea but the execution is abysmal. It isn't getting better either; it just keeps getting worse. I don't know how to express my dissatisfaction with this product any better without starting to use bad language. So I'll stop here. Bottom line: If you want more headaches in your life, switch from manual mowing to this piece of crap robot!!!!
Don't buy anything from this company, I just learned that just because I bought a Neomow s from one of their youtube testers, I can't buy any spare parts for it! so it's like Mercedes doesn't sell or spare parts for their cars to those who buy them used!!! this is commercial madness. avoid being scammed. 😡😡😡
Sorry to hear your experience. Unfortunately when purchasing these product through Amazon or directly from the manufacturer, support is often not very good. As a local dealer we only sell products that we can carry spare parts and support our customers. For this very reason we didn’t stock this product. My front axle broke with it just being set down. My wife must have put it down on an angle. So I have to disagree with you in how strong it is. Also, the customer service is horrible. I'm 2 weeks with no response. I do not recommend dealing with this company. Invest in a Yarbo

I get the same thing with the new Yuka. Both of my units are outside in full view of the sky with full set signal and I still get that message.
Thanks.
Since the last latest update, major update I believe it was at the end of June. I’ve gotten that out of position every time I’ve gone into manual mode. It’s a bug with the update manual. When you hit to solve, it will start mowing.

Product might be good, but their idea of customer service is awful. They took payment and are now refusing to ship because they want more money first! An extra £350 after purchase! It's just an insane situation

Do any of the mowers allow for the use of multiple RTK sources to improve use in low-coverage zones (or to increase chance of shared-view of satellites?)
No unfortunately RTK systems do not work like this. Only one antenna or base can be used.
Apparently it's not easy to get a straight answer on the internet that you can just solder the wire and secure it carefully from moisture. It's an obvious thing to do but since I'm not an electrical engineer I started doubting my sanity 😀 Anyway, that's a useful movie, thanks!
No problem glad we could help.
