Nice. I might have used a small dowel to attach the knob to the lid. Overall a nice little turning.

Pulling strands of resin off while it is spinning is not a good idea.

anyone that casts random objects in epoxy and then turn them, i instantly subscribe. the pom poms were really cool too! what will you do next? if you ever want to try casting paper in epoxy, i have access to a ton of the little confetti circles that are left over from hole punching. i always thought they’d be great for casting. i’d love to send you some. there’s a few different shapes and sizes too!

cast it in clear epoxy then turn a sphere. ben worx did this i think, the result was very cool.

On a lathe that size, this qualifies as stunt turning. Well done Mr Hunt.

Hope you get a bigger much more heavy duty lathe some day. Vicmark are the best bowl lathe I have turned on. They also have a 10 to 15 rpm speed range so you can keep the abrasives on the wood as it spins. Much easier to sand out warped bowls that way.

It's a good things wood grows on trees because that was a lot of waste

So nice. The grain gives the illusion you made a wavy line instead of a straight line. I just don’t know why you had to use such a big chuck to mount that little piece.

I like working with oak but it's very prone to splitting but it's beautiful 👌
