impeccable song and songwriting, love the lyrics with the sand/glass reoccuring motif and the parrallels between metaphorical towers of sand bound to collapse and the pillars of creation its really beautiful

That first riff in the intro is simply the greatest riff i've ever heard and it lasts like 16 bars and it's gone forever, only vektor can afford to have such a great idea and utilize it in this way because the rest of the material is also just that good

i think this is my favorite song, my entry point to vektor back in 2016 and it just changed everything for me, it was like finding the perfect music i didn't know i wanted haha. completely atomised the way i think about guitar and my music taste in general, what i want to play or listen to... but yeah i still don't really know exactly why, there's just something mystical about that chorus secti...

Good one! is this easiest (to play) song of vektor?
@@Letovosu thanks!! hmmm i guess? but not as easy at it seems honestly, some of these chords are pretty spicy and it took me some time to get everything to ring out nice! but yeah definitely a nice break from the blistering tempos of literally every other song haha
@@arsouille1367 i learned first solo on my 2nd year of guitar it was pretty easy to play, but vektor riffs made me hopeless when i tried.
That tone is spot on. Wonder if you could do some Vexovoid covers in the future.
@@willl676 Thank you! I haven't planned to do any vexovoid at the moment no, but we never know maybe someday 👽
I'm guessing there was no chambering in the tele previously? Did you notice any odd weight/balance changes since removing the headstock? I suppose you removed some of the body too, so that could've helped offset any change...
In case you havent noticed he did chunk out part of The body to accomodate for the new bridge..
@@SelfPropelledDestiny yeah no chambering. i haven't noticed any change, but telecaster don't suffer from neck dive anyway so cutting out the head doesn't change anything. i did cut off a chunk of the body too so i guess you're right it could have even it out haha
0:45 I love those passages. great job covering as always, man. awesome guitars btw, and bass playing.
I love the chorus riffs so much, Vektor, Voivod and Mastodon are such amazing bands to me for using these alien chords so effectively
great choice, love those bands as well!! yeah that chorus is really special, really catchy but without loosing any of the heaviness or the somber tone of the song and the album in general. and the fact it's such a short and catchy idea that keeps repeatiing like a mantra until the riff breaks down completely into dissonant diminished chords is a perfect musical analogy for the themes present in the lyrics, about how a society or anything that's stagnating is built on pillars of sand, meaning it will inevitably break down and collapse
I see what's going on, finishing terminal redux before summer ends
i'm trying to get it done but with recharging the void might take a sec to record a good take lol we''ll see 🤣
@@arsouille1367Recharging the void is a song that really fits the definition of an “epic.” The ultimate final boss of the album! You got this!
Holy moly.. did not expect the bass. (One of my favorite bass parts from Vektor)
yeesss that part is so tasty i had to play it as well or it didn't feel right! i'm not really playing it right tho, i decided to play an arrangement between how it sounds on the record and how stephen has been playing it in latest live shows, he is really adding a lot of great ideas to the bass parts. and fretless because why not 👽
how much time have u spent for this? Sounds kinda long to learning vektor by ears xD
@@Letovosu i would say it took me about 1 month/1month and a half to study and learn the album, and after that many many weeks of pratice to get consistent and comfortable with the songs 🤖
@@arsouille1367 awesome job! Waiting for activate!
easily my favorite song from the album and seeing you cover the bass solos as well filled my heart with so much joy lol thank you for covering this monstrosity of a song
@@drepfawx thank you for watching! yeah i'm not really a bass player but i just had to try to cover those insane solo, it's a highlight of the song for sure 😇

@@TheRealGocho wow thank you so much 🙏i'll do my best for all the remaining songs! yes lots and lots of practice, i've learned so much playing vektor, and had and still have a lot of fun learning it! you'll definitely improve with vektor songs, good luck keep playing🦾

Do you plan on making tabs for Vektor songs? the way you play them look closer to what they play live compared to some other tabs
@@Font_2 hey, yeah i spent a lot of time analyzing live footage so i'm pretty confident what i play is accurate, for now i've only tabbed out collapse, maybe i'll revise the tabs that are already out there
@@arsouille1367 Hope you do either make tabs or edit some of them, i've been trying to learn some of their stuff and currently struggling, what do you think is their easiest song for a newer guitarist?
@@Font_2 @Font_2 you know what you motivated me lol so i'm rewriting tabs for the album, you can check either on songsterr i've done the first 3 songs for now, or i'll put them in this drive as well drive.google.com/drive/folders/1jb4p2fLnsoqFf0AH5BoKkw4E7nVVxPXN?usp=drive_link I don't think there"s really an easy vektor song for a newer player but the good news is you're gonna improve immensely if you try to learn them. of terminal redux i would say cygnus terminal is great, or psychotropia especially the slower parts. other than that Asteroid is super super fun to play and one of the least complex ones i feel. I'd also say try tetrastructural minds if you haven't already, definitely not easy but it's such a great song it's always gonna feel great to play even if you're struggling. And by practicing these riffs you're basically developping all the techniques used in their entire repertoire. But honestly i think the best vektor song to learn is the one YOU really want to play, theyre all gonna be diffiuclt at first so you should probably just dive into what is really motivating you. I was obsessed with Oblivion years ago and it was so hard dude, it kicked my ass so bad but i kept practicing everyday because i loved the song and wanted to play it so much, that's what carried me. At least that's how i learned, start as slow as you need and build up that precision and stamina 🤗🦾
@@arsouille1367 Thank you! i've been learning outer isolation and i got the first 3 riffs down so i think i'll focus on that, cygnus terminal is for sure one i want to learn, i also have the first riff from tetrastructural minds i just need to get it faster, how long have you been playing guitar?
@@Font_2 isolation is no joke man congrats!! i've been playing for more than ten years, not sure how many exactly
I'm so happy you are covering this album as well. So awesome, thank you very much. I'm learning Vektor Songs as well and your covers are very helpful
@@warhumm3l that's awesome thank you so much!! let me know if you're struggling with something in particular i can try to help or even write some tabs if needed. good luck on your vektor journey 🦾🦾
2:10 - 4:05 one of the most badass sections invented by mankind. (not technically, but the ambiance is flawless)
yesss i love that section too, it's like the quintessential thrash metal riff pushed to it's limit, which not only sounds awesome but makes a lot of sense thematically to have it here in this song and this album if you think about it
such a good song!!!
yes just sensational!! 🙏

@@Letovosu hey thank you! well i still got to do termial redux but yes i'd like to do activate at some point, it might be the one i do next actually. As for dead by dawn i heard david say it might be in the new album coming soon as a reworked version, so i'll probably wait for that🫡
@@arsouille1367 is that real? Vektor is still working on new music? Where can i read vektor news? Bandcamp seems pretty dead
@@Letovosu for sure they are, i heard it from dave himself when we were hanging out with other fans at the merch after their concert last fall. if i recall correctly he also said it would feature many longer progressive songs in the style of collapse, but also very thrash/technical stuff, he also claims one of the songs is the best he's ever written so that's exciting haha.. the album should be pretty much done by now, last i heard they were aiming for it to come out around fall 2024. theres not that much info on the internet, every member is more or less active on instagram but almost never posts about album progress, theres also an official vektor account. theres also a facebook page, and david's personnal facebook where he's posted a few updates here and there... there's also a fanmade discord server where every bit of info is shared if you're interested, i'm not the owner but i can probably get you an invite if you want? 🤗
