Things to do in kyoto: fushimi inari shrine, kiyomiu-dera, kamo river
This is our third video highlighting all the iconic, popular, and must-see things in Kyoto. As first-time Japan tourists, we did our research and marked down everything worth seeing in this city and nearby areas.
Today, we’ll be taking you with us on a journey to explore:
🌸 *Kiyomizu-Dera Shrine:* Discover the rich history and breathtaking views from this UNESCO World Heritage site, known for its wooden stage that juts out from the main hall, offering panoramic views of the city and cherry blossoms in full bloom.
🍲 *A Tofu Specialty Restaurant:* Join us at Kiyomizu Junsei Okabeya, a renowned tofu restaurant that also makes all its tofu in-house (they also operate a tofu making factory). This vegetarian and vegan friendly spot had us rethinking the idea of going vegetarian - the food was that good!
⛩️ *Fushimi Inari Shrine:* Walk with us through the mesmerizing tunnel of over 10,000 vermilion torii gates, as we huff and puff up the hiking trail to summit this beautiful mountain. Bring your walking shoes!
🍽️ *Gourmet Hamburger Steak Dinner:* Grab dinner with us at Hikiniku To Come, a popular hamburger steak restaurant that requires reservations a month in advance! See why this spot is famous among locals and tourists alike, and why it’s worth planning ahead to secure a table.
🌅 *Kamo River at Sunset:* End the day with us by the serene Kamo River, where we’ll witness the most stunning sunset of our entire trip. This tranquil spot is perfect for a peaceful evening stroll, capturing the natural beauty of Kyoto and the cherry blossoms in full bloom.

Make a point to take some day hikes into Ventana wilderness next time. Pfieffer is great but the real Big Sur is a couple miles inland from where you were. The Big Sur Trailmap on Google is a little old fashioned but once you figure out how to use it, it is a great tool.

Oh how fun! Do you mean gas canisters? We brought four full canisters just in case. I would say it's always better to bring extra/backups. If you're boiling water (e.g. making stews, soups, pasta, etc.) or using the stove for long periods of time, you should bring more than one canister.

Nostalgia. Used to camp at Pheiffer regularly with the kids and another family back in the 80’s. Also camped in a heavy downpour at Samual P Taylor. On two separate occasions. Was wet and hilariously muddy. We would have huge Asian style feasts too. Our group was Chinese, Filipino, Japanese, & German American, so huge diverse meals. So much conviviality. We would bring our Klein and Specialized mountain bikes and go dirt trail and paved trail riding, and hiking. Good times. Thanks!

If I successfully reserve a campsite , do I still also need to reserve a park entrance reservation ? I know everyone has to pay for park entrance unless they are special . What I meant is that if I have already reserved a campsite , do I still need to reserve a park entrance separately since the difference is that I will stay at the park overnight while other that does not camp eventually has to leave at the end of the day . Did you go stargazing at Tuolomne Meadow at the end of the video? I’m going to Yosemite next week and that seems like a great idea! Glad you had a great time with your friends. ❤

Hi, we went stargazing at Cook's Meadow, which is near Curry village and the campsite. Anywhere along the meadow loop is a great spot to stargaze. Have fun at Yosemite!

Tuolumne Meadows is 60 to 75 minutes east of the Valley on Hwy 120.

With lots of hopes and prayers. Your best bet is to rally a group of friends to get up at 6:30am, open up a bunch of browser windows with campsites you want to snag, and have everyone smash that 'reserve' button the moment the time hits 7am sharp. You'll have to basically book it 5 months ahead -- right when the reservations system opens up. Here's a step by step guide on how to book a coveted campsite (it books out literally within one second of the release time): thetravelingfamiliesclub.com/tips-for-yosemite-camping-reservations/ Goodluck! It's worth getting up early to snag a reservation :)

We didn’t encounter any bears and didn’t hear of bears coming through the campsite during our stay

When was your trip at Yosemite? I'm going next week during independent day weekend. Also in upper Pines for 3 nights. I plan to visit mirror lake and wondering if there's still have good amount of water flow.
