Maybe it's about the excitement of getting a model airplane to fly! Especially one that you have designed and built yourself.
Maybe it's the idea that I am still learning about how to do this! But mostly it's about the Fun that you have flying model airplanes!

Small Free flight Model of a Blohm & Voss 215 - Part 1
This is Part 1 of a build of a small BV 215 for simple electric power. It uses the motor, timer and lipo battery from cheap toy foam plane sold on Ali Express.
The BV215 was a German jet proposal for a 3 seat night/all weather jet fighter from 1945. It was never build but there have been many models of it flown over the years.
This one uses a kit produced by the Vintage Model Company, sadly no longer available but the plans are downloadable from the excellent OuterZone web site (outerzone.co.uk).
This video covers the building of a simple depron version to test the power unit. Hopefully the proper Balsa version will be in Part 2!

Spitfire Electric powered model
มุมมอง 2173 ปีที่แล้ว
Finally, I got to fly my model Spitfire! Its been hanging on my wall for almost 3 years, waiting for good weather! Well almost! Its just over 1M wingspan, powered by a 400 watt brushless motor and uses a 3 cell 2200 lipo battery. Its colour scheme is that of a full size Spitfire from 315 (polish) Squadron that crashed in Ireland on August 23,1942.

Best ever small rubber powered model airplanes

These are the simplest rubber powered flying model aircraft I have. The Sleek Streek is not original. The original Sleek Streek was a simple slot together model with beautiful red moulded plastic parts. I bought several of these in the late 60's and early 70's. They were very simple to fly as you just slid the wing back or forth on the fuselage stick until it flew properly. This version is not ...

Good looking project and promising flights 👍👍😊😊
It's sometimes the simple planes that you have the most fun with, and they can sometimes fly really well. I've had r/c planes and heli's, and I love my gliders and rubber power planes.
Excellent, hire a sports hall and let it really fly!
Here in Finland every flying model kid in the Sixties and Seventies must have had the Sleek Streek and Quillows models , they were sold everywhere. Carefully pressing the parts together trying not tho split them, and the pressing of the wings to the plastic center piece was frightening... I have sort of memory of pre-bent whole wing through the fuselage, and also the plastic terrifying center piece, but as there were several different kits resembling each other... Finland is often called "The 51:st State of The USA", as we are possibly the most "American" country of the Europe. Or , when I was kid in the Seventies, I had skateboard, I still have it, (my son is now second generation skateboarder...) , we had rich hot rod culture even back then, I had several COX models, and I have had cars like Plymouth Valiant (my first) , Ford LTD -67 with 428, Blazer -79 I still own, Chrysler Newport -78 , Jeep GC, now Hummer H3, etc... Practically everybody can speak English. You got a NATO ally that is like you. Possibly more American than your Democrats, as it seems looking from here...
After being a devoted fan of Formula 1 car racing for decades, I completely lost interest when Kimi Räikkönen retired and Hamilton went woke. Haven't watched a single race since. You're behind the times. My first skateboard had steel wheels. The second's were of clay and only the last couple used urethane. I sold my baby blue, 2 dr, Landau roofed, Newport and yellow Jeep YJ last century and haven't seen any point in NATO for quite some time.
I still have a Sky Streek hanging in my den.
Bought a few _Skeeter_ when Mom wouldn't pay for a _Sleek Streek._ What was the glider named?
my grand daughter loves bees . i have to build one of these for her , ( and me ) love the antennae
Cool. I'm gonna try to build one with dollar store foam board.
Sooo ~10secs of Thrust . Rubber bands can do similar if not more.
❤❤
Yup ! flies like a Clancy Bee: Slow ...unstably , seemingly always on the edge of a stall. Never understood why so many loved them. Most likely because it was the only RC model they could actually Fly (sort of)
That looks fun ,i might have to try it one Day( Rubber band airplanes) great video
put a brake on the prop shaft.
Not sure what you mean. Is that something to stop the prop turning after the rubber ras run down?
Very impressive and especially the rubber powered models always wanted to try a foam profile fuselaudge but no depron here in the usa we just have thicker foam board at our dollar stores
I didn't expect you to get that one back, excellent flights 👍👍
Thanks 👍
I would prefer if I could get flights that are lower and slower. No sure if ai will ever manage that!
i am building a SRPSM today with out the plans using that looks about right method and the AMA racer plans i do have Do you remember the balance point/CG on the mail wing ?? i am guessing about an inch forward from TE i found a used Ron Williams book so have it on order That Looks like its a Super flyer i see Volare products has a Laser cut Sleek Streek kit out now ill order one as well
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. My Ron Williams book is hiding somewhere, but on my SRPSM the balance point is just slightly over 1 1/2 inched ahead of the trailing edge or 3 1/2 inches back from the apex of the leading edge. The Ron Williams book is just inspirational, beautiful sketches and lots if great ideas. I treasure my copy! Thanks for the heads up on the Volare Sleek Streak kit, its looks great. I will ask my contact in the US to get one for me and bring it back next time he come s back here.
I must have had dozens of Sleek Streeks as a kid in the 60's. I lost way too many to flyaways. Brings back fantastic childhood memories.
So cool 🎉❤
You did a great job of flying the Walrus. Was this built from the Aeromodeller free flight plan? What electric motor did you use and did you have to change the wing, tail and motor thrust angles any? Thank you very much, Michael slainte
Thank you. The model was built by my Dad from a free plan. Not sure if it was from aeromodeller. I believe it was built exactly as per the plan with a very low power(cheap!) 120 watt motor. As I remember it had tendency to dive from the initial hand launch, but flew fine after that.
@@MouseSquadron Hi, Thank you very much for the information. Slan
What a lovely "noise"!
Damned shame that you can't buy the Sleek Streeks anymore. The Guillows ones you CAN get are insanely expensive, as I remember buying the Slkeek Streeks for about a quarter when I was a kid. (Jeez! That was *gasp!* fifty years ago!!!!)
Funny enough Guillows bought out Comet which had already bought out North Pacific. They sold the sleek Streek, Star Flyer, Stunt Flyer with flimsy foam.wings for a minute. They completely sucked. They also sold a Skeeter with a extra small Guillows prop that says made in Argentina on the package.
Is there a balsa version
Yes , it's available to download from Outetzone.co.uk outerzone.co.uk/plan_details.asp?ID=12531 should be the link but if you just search for "Zip" on the outerzone search option you will see it listed.
@@MouseSquadron thanks man
Looked slightly tall heavy
Yes and too heavy overall. I am hoping to make a lighter version at some stage.
@@MouseSquadron Have been enjoying your vids. Thank you for sharing.
Nice looking planes. Do you have any plans for the little delta?
Thank you. No plans as such. I can get the overall measurements for you if you wish.
@@MouseSquadron if you could I would appreciate it
Would you mind sharing a link with the exact 4 blade unit propellor you used ? I will make this project myself. Thank you - you have inspired me a lot with that video.
Sorry for the delay. I got the 4 blade props here www.aliexpress.com/item/4000704729979.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.51.32cb1802GoKLYb
Spectacular - my type of projects and relaxed flying at the same time !!!! Excellent work !!!!
Amazing !!!!!!
The electric motor certainly takes the screaming engine out of a dizzying experience! Nice job on resurrecting the Veron classic.
Great looking plane. Beautiful landing. Well done!
Amazing....As a complete and utter newbie (or idiot) can someone please tell me how do I get one of these things to fly properly? At least do one left circle or something around me? They usually just fly up stall and dive and crash or just dive and crash. Never stays in the air for any length of time...I followed the directions on the can but it won't fly...its a $5 sleak streek I got from ebay.
Well, if wings and tail are not twisted or warped, you should get the model to fly by adjusting the position of the wing on the stick fuselage. If it stalls, slide the wing back, and if it dives slide the wing forward. That's the basic theory. I would check for warps or twists as these can cause all sorts of problems. Good luck and don't give up!!
Oh and the adjustments to the wing position should be made in very small increments. Small adjustments can have big impacts!
Ottimo 👍
Nice
mostly good work. d
Thank you. Always room for improvement!
Lovely 😊😊👍👍
Whoah! Thank you so much, I was looking for a timer circuit to do ten seconds of on time but this is much simpler. Hope Amazon can send some supercapacitors pronto, I have four motors from a dead drone and a sheet of solid foam insulation that need to get airborne.
I could never get a Sleek Streek to fly even half decently. AMA Cubs all flew somewhat, they would thermal. I built one with light wood, tissue covered, and a much longer motor. Lightened the prop, too. Flew very well.
Try to find the _MAN_ article "Far-out Farman" from 1981. I think it uses a Streek or Skeeter prop.
I had one of those made it into a polydihedral wing, no wheels, balanced peck prop got over 3 mins indoors!!! :)
It(sleek streak/skeeter) should launch straight up and spiral all the way up to 100 feet or so, following with a fairly quick roll out to around a 20 - 25 ft diameter circle. I grew up on them and lost so many to flyaways never to be seen again. Once I figured out how to fly them I could not get enough and went through many, mainly because I could not drive and flew from places I should not have. Watching them catch an updraft and disappear over the trees from my backyard was a thrill, and at 15 cents at the time, well, I could always get another by turning in a few pop bottles.
Very nicely done! Almost like having a pet bird.
information. at 5:07, this is a wholly inferior, and stoopid bi-plane, design. it was produced by someone who was SHORT-on knowledge. these are some of the issues. the model has offset pusher thrust, with an INCORRECT thrust line. this defect is why a lot of up-elevator is Needed. the tail boom is too long and stabs are over-large/heavy; contributing to PERMANENT tail-Heaviness in the distribution of mass (dom). googletranslate
at 2:28, this model has a flimsy wing and VARIABLE polyhedral.!!!!!
What the..! Beautiful Spitfire. Those fly-by's looked and sounded like the real thing. Brilliant video. Thanks for sharing.
Unfortunately the spitfire is no more. An unfortunate accident in the shed resulted in a heartbreaking amount of damage which is unrepairable. I have now dug out the plans for a similar sized Me 109 which will hopefully take its place. My next spitfire will be a much bigger 72" version made from depron if all goes well.
@@MouseSquadron Sorry to hear that. You must be heart broken. Looking forward to seeing the Me 109. I recently built the Guillows Bf 109 505 kit but I've only got as far as glide test. A 6 foot wingspan Spitfire sounds awesome. You'd be able to fly recon with that. I bet that would scare the heck out of 'you know who' in the Ukraine. :P
@@frank.s.bernhardt Yes, the spitfire plans looks huge. I will have to clear out lots of stuff from the shed to make room. The guillows 109 sounds very nice. Their kits were hard to find here. Comet kits were more available, but not as good as guillows I believe.
That was an interesting selection and challenging for the camera person 😆😆 I would be happy with all those flights. The little delta was a bit nippy, poor camera person 👍👍
Yes, I'm lucky to be able to call on his services! Small delta flys surprisingly well and goes a long way. Almost lost it first day out as it originally flew in a straight line. I am keen to get the electronics out of the foam biplane and into something "Proper". Maybe a larger version of the delta.
I’ve watched your videos for 3 years now, it’s nice to have you post again. Also, very nice Vampire.
Thank you. The vampire is one of my favourite full size jets. I would love to have a larger r/c version at some stage.
@@MouseSquadron You should try and look into or buy a flite test vampire kit, it doesn’t come with the electronics included but you can still buy those separately on their store. And they use great, lightweight and waterproof foam board. And also I really liked the way your delta model flew.
I want slow indoor plane :(
