Their music is great, pulsing with life and energy and creative twists. The tall trio (each is 6 feet for more) includes a terrific pair of lead vocalists, Danny Hamilton and Joe Frank Carollo.Danny also plays lead guitar while Joe Frank plays bass.Their keyboard wizard is Alan Dennison, a strong replacement for Tommy Reynolds who left the group to devote his life to religion.

@@funkycandycool In the 80s, Danny composed many songs, some of which were recorded as demos with Joe Frank, while others were included in the movie Hunter's Blood. He also composed and recorded the songs "Feel It" and "With Your Loving Comes Easy" with his ex-wife Ann in the early 80s. This song is a demo from the late 80s recorded with Joe Frank. Unfortunately, there are many compositions by Danny that we haven't heard, and I'm not sure if we'll ever be able to get our hands on the demos someday, who knows. He even composed a Christmas song; maybe someday some recording tapes will surface.🙏

Why didn't they include don't pull you love in this tribute?
@@philiptreece3339 I wanted to create a tribute video to part of Danny's work as a composer. All the songs in the video were composed and performed by Danny. "Don't Pull Your Love", was composed by Dennis Lambert and Brian Potter. The idea was to gather in a not-too-long video the songs that Danny composed and performed, both vocally and with his guitar.

I am so glad you posted this. Dan Hamilton had such a distinctive and beautiful voice. I read the book about Hamilton, Joe Frank & Reynolds written by Robert Reynolds released in 2016. What I found reading it is the chapters post Playboy records are sketchy and short, and it appears to me that the group just fell off the face of the earth post 1976. They didn't perform or record much after that. Too bad their career ended so abruptly.
@@alanfarber3831 Thank you for commenting. Without a doubt, Danny had an amazing talent, but for some reason, the band's luck was never long-lasting. First, the shock of Tommy Reynolds' departure from the band, which was very surprising for Danny and Joe Frank, but they were never great businessmen, they were friends, and what a friend wanted was respected, even if they were the ones most directly harmed. On the other hand, after achieving the contract with Playboy and seeing a brighter future, everything suddenly became dark when Playboy stopped paying royalties and eventually claimed bankruptcy (probably due to internal maneuvers by Hugh Hefner). Danny and Joe Frank always fought to maintain their success, but ultimately preferred to give up and continue on their own in the music industry, perhaps behind the scenes and without fame, but they continued to make and play music until 1994 when Danny passed away unexpectedly. He had been battling Cushing's syndrome since 1993 and had spent a year in the hospital and undergone adrenal surgery that was supposed to help him improve. But fate can be very unfair and surprising, and during the early morning hours of December 23, 1994, Danny suffered a stroke that caused his sudden death. It was very difficult for the entire family, even for Joe Frank, they were devastated. Danny had even recorded a song four months before his passing, he attended the recording studio immobilized in a wheelchair after spending a year in intensive care, he sang the song in one take, surprising everyone in the studio. The song is called "Santa Monica Nights" and was never released after Danny's sad goodbye, but you can hear a part of the song among the shorts on my channel, his brother Judd Hamilton kindly published the song on his Soundclick profile. Again, I believe Danny's talent would have led him to become a legend, either as a composer or performer, but his early departure from this world, prior to the rise of the internet and social media, submerged all memories of the band and their beautiful music almost into oblivion. His only daughter is a super kind soul but very reserved, and she has not wished to share her father's musical materials, perhaps someday we can enjoy the complete story of this great musician and his legacy. 🎸🎶

Dan Hamilton in this video looks like Johny Cash and Elvis mixed into one.
@@chadgilmore5046 He was a very handsome man, but unlike Elvis and Cash, I think Danny wasn't a showman and didn't want to be the frontman of his band. He always seemed a bit reserved in his performances. In fact, in his tour shows and in many of the band's photos, Danny's position was always to the side with his guitar. On TV shows, as the lead vocalist, he always had to be in the middle and in the spotlight, and that seemed to make him more nervous. I think he had the soul of a guitarist, but his amazing voice put him at the forefront. However, according to his own words, in the band everyone was equally important, and normally Joe Frank was the frontman in their shows. Maybe his reserved and low-key personality was the reason he couldn't face a solo music career, despite trying twice. He preferred to walk side by side with Joe Frank until his final years. And he was a virtuoso guitarist. It's a shame there aren't more videos of live shows, since Danny would play amazing guitar solos during his performances. His skill on both rhythm and lead guitar was admirable." The Ventures" met Danny at a dinner party when Danny was just 12 years old, and they were amazed by how he played the guitar, despite being self-taught, although he had taken violin lessons since he was 5 years old.
This is the video I've been looking for. This song is only one of two songs that made It to #1 on my personal charts ... The other was "I got stung" by Elvis Presley.
I mean, only one of two songs that made it to #1 on my personal charts, and repeated the success later.
@@gordsexton6781 Thank you for your comment, there's no doubt it's a great song. In a 1971 interview with Joe Frank, he said that Don't Pull Your Love definitely filled a musical void of that time. Initially, Joe Frank was going to be the lead voice, but when the Dunhill producer and writers Lambert and Potter heard Danny's amazing voice, they had no doubt it would be a guaranteed success. On the same day they heard the band, they showed them the demo of the song, and the guys recorded the song with their instruments. A week later, they recorded the string and wind ensembles and joined them to the tape.
I meant, it was only one of two songs that hit #1 on my personal charts, then got back to #1 years later. ..I have over 100 songs that hit #1 on my charts, what the hey.
