Great movie. One of my favorites. I was going through a divorce when I originally saw it, and I had three young daughters at the time. It really touched me. I caught about everything you did, except your final ironic point. In a movie partly about money, the protagonist discarded money as a consideration of his ultimate decision to stay. Bravo.

Amen. I was intoxicated with the scenery, horses, and Kevin Costner, but I never liked Beth the Boss Bitch, Monica the nag, or Rip the cyborg. I wanted to like Kaycee, but if he's a bad ass Navy Seal...how does he get his ass kicked by a cowboy (Rip) who's never gotten off the ranch. JD is the worst kind of villain, because he thinks he's morally superior to everyone. I liked the Cowboy scenes. Jimmy was likable. Walker was talented. Teeter was hilarious, and the cowboy groupies were hot. What about 1883/1923? Do they suffer the same fools? Please advise.

Is it just The dutton's "villains" just feel like just people the writers dont like or dont agree with and just want to portray them as obnoxious or evil just to justify their dislike of them 😂😂😅😂

I love this show, but have you have touched on all the things it really could be, and I have also been disappointed in this latest season. It also wants to be a mobster movie without showing the realistic consequences of what that life brings. Take Scorsese for example. He doesn’t glorify that lifestyle, and shows the rise and the fall and the consequences that follow:)

I've only seen a few episodes when I visit my Dad. It's such a bad show. I think you misread the situation in "Better Call Saul" where Mike stands up to Gus. Gus doesn't cross the line when he decides to leave Nacho for dead in Mexico. Mike stands up to Gus when he tells Tyrus to get Nacho's father, implying that Gus will threaten Nacho's father to keep Nacho from talking if the Salamacas catch him. Mike's moral code is that people who are "in the game" know the consequences, so he doesn't help Nacho out of his situation. But Mr. Varga isn't in the game and Mike draws the line with using him as leverage

My main problem with Rip is that he has literal plot armour, he is a Mary sue. No one is as tough or as smart or as bad ass as Rip, and reality has to wrap itself around him. Rip shrugs off two gunshots to the abdomen at point blank range when he's saving Beth, then effortlessly kills her attackers with his bare hands. Rip kills the medical examiner and stages an explosion, and is so proficient at it that apparently no one ever suspects it wasn't an accidental death. Rip tows a trailer up to the door of the cowboy bar and releases an angry bull into it causing widespread mayhem and presumably several serious injuries, but somehow no witness or CCTV managed to catch that it was a truck and trailer with a big "yellowstone" sign on them that was responsible, because when Rip does it, it always works! In the finale, Rip manages to extricate Jamie's body and his car form his house and bring them to the train station and not have one eye witness or CCTV camera (like maybe every Ring doorbell on every house on the street of this upscale neighborhood) catch him driving Jamie's car or end up with trace amounts of blood or other DNA on his clothes or his shoes or anything.

I remember being literally so confused by all the praise the finale got as if we hadn’t all just watched two serial killers get away with the murder of some poor guy that we watched get abused by his serial killer family for 5 seasons. Justice for Jamie, wanting to see him get at least some type of catharsis or happiness after all he was put through was the only reason I was still watching 😭

I hate Beth so much thank you for this video 😂

Yellowstone had a lot of potential that never manifested in its 5-season run. The filming, production, and backdrop were all great, but Taylor Sheridan failed to construct good character arcs in the show, notably for Beth and Jamie. Beth was not protagonist worthy, because she was sleazy and had no desire to better herself or others and Jamie was a bad antagonist, because he was victimized by his own family and got pigeonholed into the villain role. I quit the show after I started Part 2 of Season 5, because I was tired of getting angry and frustrated with the characters and I’ve been sleeping much better at night since then.

I’m still a “Yellowstoner” but I agree with a lot if not most of this.

When Outer Range(a much better show) came out I joked that it was like Yellowstone but realistic. Never been a Sheridan fan. Hell or High Water was good but I've never understood the Sicario or Wind River hype. To me Yellowstone was always like a rancher version of Suits for conservative TV viewers. The dialogue is similar. They make Beth and Jihn the same Harvey like over the top so bad ass character that always outsmarts everyone in every situation ruining any sense of drama and tension. Goofy show.

I think the worst part is the fans of the the show who look up to half these characters and defend all their actions while condemning every “enemy” who’s done far less than the Duttons evil history

I would also add that i liked Monica's character for the first two seasons, but watching the third season, i realized that her character arc is just be depressed. Over and over again, be depressed and offended. Taylors writing is so shit.

I've gotten slowly and quietly getting to this point. My wife absolutely loves the show so I've had to deal with that and keep my mouth shut but now that it's over I'm fucking done.

It took me to second part of this season to see the light. So glad it’s ending. Hopefully.

I liked the show when it was a country mafia family situation, albeit a bit cheesy at times. The slop that it has become is insane.

The show started out good, but once they ruined the ranch house I was done. Every other episode is about the ranch hands acting like little girls and the Duttons throwing a huge party on their property (even though they are trying to save money and save the ranch). Tater ruined the show for me, and whatever happened to the cliff they threw all their dead bodies off of? Beth f’ing sucks

I ended up watching 1883 first due to not having the right streaming. So I had expectations of Yellowstone once I got streaming, BOY was I disappointed!! I had to forced myself to finish.

This show started off as a promising one, but the last two seasons just happened. Unrelated side stories, underdeveloped characters who get unreasonably long screen time like this pink haired obnoxious lady - black guy love story that just ended and didn’t add anything to the story. Jimmy’s side quests were pointless. Beth is the most over acted chracter development ever. Beth vs Jamie feud has always felt out of place with some horrible screaming sessions seemingly without any reason and consequences. None. Absolutely none. So, what’s the point on showing this? Beths unfortunate history feels more like a filler than anything else. I guess they didn’t come up with anything better and so be it. Rest of the npc cowboys are just there. This horse trainer was utterly nonsense in s5 e13. What’s with that? Only one good character is/was Johns. Monica can’t just make up her mind either she wants to say in the ranch or she really wants to get as far from it as she can. Well.. this dilemma can be solved with good writing. At the moment she is just stupid.. I could go on and in. This show Started off as an interesting pile of various things, now you can see, it’s a dumpster on fire. Nonsense show. Weakest story development I’ve seen in a long while. Yeah, i hate this show. Stuff just happens and in the next episode it’s forgotten completely like it was never mentioned. Bad casting, especially this elderly corporate lady.. wtf was that? She used words she has never used before in her lifetime :D Beth is an ultimate predator and high tier corporate assassin, taking down large companies just like that, but can’t do the simplest tax math for a small single unit ranch. Oh, come one now.. And when she realised how much steaks cost. Lol. Indian chef guy just disappeared with no trace. He was a main character for two seasons, ffs. And for god’s sake, cut off with these horse show compilations. Tf am I watching? At first they were very keen on bringing branded guys to th “train station” but all of a sudden it stopped and guys were just walking off as they pleased. Jimmy was even sent off to texas with an hear warming gratitude. Wth?! I would’ve like if Jimmy was taken to the train station instead of this uninteresting nonsense texas love triangle story. Oh, what a slop this shows writing is.

Beth is so cringe. Perpetual running mascara, constant faux “bad ass” drunk privileged rich daddy’s girl. Can’t stand her voice either. There is nothing likable about her, I’m very much turned off by macho nonsense so this show just hits me all wrong
