THE ISOLLAZ WATERFALL - ITALY - La cascata di Isollaz
Hello to all my dear friends and new visitors to my channel.
As those who have been following me for a long time will have noticed, I have been absent from YT for many months. They have in fact been the most difficult and painful months of my life.
I recently lost my beloved dad, my light, my soul, my heart.
He was a wonderful man, of unique sweetness, a man who raised me with infinite love, a dad I could not love more.
Life sometimes puts us in front of events so painful that it seems impossible to overcome.
But I know that my beloved dad will help me move on. His love is inside me together with the memories that accompany me like a warm blanket, they support me, they make me feel that he is constantly close to me, in the immensity of a timeless love.
We must try in every way to return to some normality and be present again on YT and interact with the wonderful friends that I was lucky enough to meet through this platform, it is part of my process of searching for a new stability after this heartbreaking loss.
I have many places to show you, but little time available and this video was almost ready for a long time and so I decided to post it. There are some editing problems and I apologize and I promise that the next ones will be better.
On this occasion I have the pleasure of taking you with me to a wonderful place in the Aosta Valley.
I'll take you to Isollaz, in Val d'Ayas to admire the extraordinary waterfall, one of the most beautiful and spectacular in the entire Region.
A particular characteristic of this wonder of nature is its powerful sound, due to the strong movement of air and the speed of the water, which make it truly thunderous.
Unfortunately I could not leave the sound in the video because it was really too loud. But live, I assure you that it is something impressive.
I was in this splendid place right at the beginning of last October and in fact you can notice that the vegetation is about to transform in the imminent autumn season.
We are near Challand St. Victor, where it is necessary to park the car.
At this point you continue for about 300 meters on the asphalt road, until you find the sign on the right, which indicates the start of the downhill path, which will lead to the waterfall.
The starting point is at an altitude of 675 m (2,214 ft) to descend to 570 m (1,870 ft), crossing a nature path that is at times quite steep and impervious but not very difficult, made up of high steps, roots and rocks. You just need to be a little careful, although I do not recommend it if it has recently rained, because it could be slippery.
The path is fascinating and runs alongside the Evancon river, whose constant sound you can hear along the way, increasingly louder as you get closer to the waterfall. The stream in turn originates from the Verra and Cortaud streams, fed by the glaciers of Monte Rosa.
The last stretch is flat and runs along the sheer rock walls in a truly breathtaking landscape and finally, after a small bend, you find yourself in front of the majestic waterfall, which features a 50-meter drop.
As you get closer, to the point where you can admire the waterfall in all its height, a cloud of spray will wet you and the roar of the waterfall will accompany your steps.
All around you, a wild and spectacular landscape that is reflected in the blue-green waters of the Evancon River. Truly magical!
And this place also has a magical legend, that of a treasure hidden in a gap in the rock that would only open at midnight on Christmas Day, but be careful to get out in time or you will remain imprisoned for a whole year!
What is true is that this area was for a long time a place of pyrite extraction and some traces of this still remain.
Not far from the Isollaz waterfall, there is another extraordinary place, always immersed in the extraordinary nature of the Aosta Valley, where the Moretta Bridge is located, overlooking a deep ravine overlooking the Lys river in a scenic position.The bridge, now in brick, dates back to 1710, but it was built near a previous wooden bridge, which was destroyed and in the center there is a frescoed oratory of fine workmanship.
This place is also the scene of an ancient legend, that of a fearsome dragon that seems to have prevented the passage on the bridge. But one day, a certain Vignal, gave it a loaf of bread impaled on his sword and the dragon died. Unfortunately, Vignal also died, poisoned by the dragon's blood.
From then on, the passage on the bridge became free and legend has it that the sinuosity carved by the glacier on the rock right in front of the bridge is precisely the imprint of the dragon itself.
Myths and legends aside, this place is also of incredible and dramatic beauty.
A little gem hidden in the uncontaminated nature of this Region.
