Probably the most dramatic, high-risk SpaceX flight to date, the Super Heavy-Starship rocket launched on an unpiloted test flight Sunday October 13, 2024 and then used the giant "mechazilla" mechanical arms, AKA “chopsticks” to grab the descending first stage out of the sky.

early models had serious wing problems. We started on a wing mod at Evergreen air center, but it was canceled. The parts are more than likely still out in the desert.
C130A,. so this has the t56 engine still?
Not sure but I think so!
original C-130A had Allison T-56-9 series engines as I recall
A kick back during start broke the spring on my 182P before my time. Spring only was just replace. Adapter had 3 years on it since new. Could you list what control/wiring items you loosen ? Pull fwd 4" or moved left?
Oh bummer. Do you know if you have the new style or classic old style adapter? Either way, really only tilted the engine about 4 inches. Jacked up from the hoist point and let the front hang down touching the mount. Removed all 4 mount bolts completed. Disconnected throttle cable and loosened mixture. Prop had enough slack to leave along but I disconnected it anyway.
1980 hours on Big Herk !
So whats the story with this C130 is it flyable or not?
As a c130 depot repair mechanic, looking at the video, it could be. It looks like there is a wing spar repair being done on the right outer wing. There have been several planes we have done that repair to at my work. The interior shows modifications to the instrument panel I see on "newer" planes. Just needs time to get finished.
It’s the oldest flying A model. Currently undergoing heavy maintenance known as a “C check”
USCG workhorse during my time serving ('83-'87).
Yep! even in 1974. Funny that he didn't even mention the Coast Guards extensive use of this aircraft model.
I was friends with the man who was the crew chief on the c130 that flew Kennedys motor cade into Dallas the day he was killed,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
C130A's only had 3 blade props, must have upgraded props
Many if not most C-130As were refitted with the Hamilton Standard 4 blade.
@@rokker3416 The AC-130A at plant #6 has the proper blades and guns
I dont think I’ve ever seen a 3 bladed C-130 configuration
There are a few hanging around in museums. The AC-130A that used to be outside at the NMUSAF is 3 bladed.
Three blades and no radome on the nose
MFG date of 1954. To put it in perspective, this aircraft was manufactured 9 years after the end of WWII and is still working. Thank you for the video!
Born the same year as me but it doesn't seem to have slowed down any?
The Boeing Dash 80 (707) had it first flight just prior to this. Both different designs and markets and a very short time after WWll
Be an A&P they said. It'll be fun they said! I'm not a Cont. fan but I like your content. Good job Jason!
(Added to your video) battery procedure: Connecting the battery, do the positive first, then negative. Disconnecting the battery, disconnect the negative before the positive. Appreciate these videos as they come in handy when actually having to do the work.
Good call on the battery procedure
You did so much in 12 minutes!
So much
Very interesting!
I’m glad you think so!
Perhaps I’ll show up for the 2nd annual pie in the sky. I’ll bring my Cessna 1xx. I just need to solve xx.
Xx solved easily by adding 82 behind the 1
POV how I feel trying to cold start my turbo civic
She’s good to go! Clear for takeoff 😂
Nice!
The tail number is one digit off from the plane I soloed in. It was a Cessna 172 62112.
Nice airplane
The largest genocidal weapon of all of WWII. Ten million defenseless civilians
Beautiful warbird evrr 🫡🇺🇸
Bro be playing bomber crew
This touches my soul. Thank you!
what's the correct air pressure to use when putting AIR/Nitrogen ? thanks
If I remember correctly it’s 55psi but lemme go find it in the book to be sure… Yep 55-60 with strut extended. Section 2-2 in the service manual, figure 1-1.
Excellent vid, thank you! The rubber tube used for seating the scraper ring properly :) looks good. I'm curious if its simply just a piece of heater hose or something more precise. Mine never look that neat. Do you find that a hose clamp is necessary? Also, are the bushings used in the link mount on the HD fork the same as the ones which fit into the "hinge" position of the torque link, or did you find some made specifically for that purpose? I need some! Also, I agree with Marco on the MM. Thanks again!
Thanks. I think you mean the bump stop- installed as a minor alteration? It’s a piece I sourced and shaped perfectly for the fitment. I bought a 4 foot section of milspec hose to cut up and offer as kits. Never got to it though. Email if interested and we can discuss. The bushings are the standard oilite type, but they needed to be trimmed down flush for the interior dimension of the link to fit. The MMs aren’t usually included in the shots, most people don’t find them as interesting, being how these videos are for entertainment purposes of course.
Late in your video you mention that the final tension on the bolt that holds everything together can't be final tensioned until it is on the airplane. Why would this be the case versus what would happen with just tensioning it on the bench?
The break over force is different depending on the airplane weight. Best to dial in on the actual airplane that will have the tailwheel installed. Super light breakaway force on a heavy tail wouldn’t be good, nor would a very heavy breakaway force be good on a light tail.
Whi signed you off for your A&P?
Wasn’t it you? 🤔
We need more outtakes at the end of all new videos. 😂
I was hoping these would be liked.
Excellent video, thank you!
I’m glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for your feedback!
This is such a great video! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for watching.
Can you post all the part numbers in the description?
Sure thing
Great job on this video, thanks for sharing your expertise
Thank you for the kind words!
FANTASTIC video! thank you for removing the mystery. Really appreciate you taking the time to explain this!
Glad it was helpful!

Glad you liked it, I will definitely keep em coming!
I never thought this was even possible
Keep Up the good work!
Hasn't it got the unlocking swivel hubs??
No swivel hubs/axles here.

Love this! Can’t wait to see it!
Thumbs down was a miss.. .TWO thumbs up!!! This is not science fiction… Space X is definitely leading the cutting edge.! Wow! Super Heavy Capture! … Wow! Thank you… I’d really love to see FTL in my life time if that’s not too much to ask 👍 just saying…
Too cool I wonder what is next!
No telling with these guys
Silly Birddog guy. If you put the calipers on the front you’ll do a stoppy and flip over on your nose! 😂
@ericmeyn4380 I dunno, I think your just sayin that so you have new training material at work 🤪
The Spring Landing gear is a challenge but you can roll it on the mains
My preferred method as well!
The L-19 is one of my most favorite aircraft ever that I would love to fly
Might be at the top of my list as well, and I have flown one!
He's got an amazing collection up there and it is nice to see them finding new, albeit diversified, homes. Your choice is a bird that wants to fly and fly and fly!
Indeed he does, and I’m grateful to be one of the new caretakers. Can’t wait to fly and fly it.
I was a WV wing Civil Air Patrol cadet in the 70's. We had a bird dog, N5252G, a close cousin to your aircraft. I've loved bird dogs ever since. Glad to see your aircraft flying again.
That’s awesome. I wonder what the serial number was… I could probably look it up online 🤔
You're going to have fun working on the "Bird Dog"
You know me too well Henry.
Just found your post and just love it. Really enjoy your work maybe even more than the flying. Thanks
Much appreciated, thank you. Feedback like that makes it all worth it for me.
