Kalanag, also known as Black Peak, is a prominent mountain in the Indian Himalayas, located in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand. This peak stands tall at an impressive height of approximately 6,387 meters (20,954 feet), making it one of the most sought-after summits for mountaineers and adventure enthusiasts.
Geographical Location and Access
Range: Garhwal Himalaya
Coordinates: 30°51′18″N 78°49′20″E
Nearest Town: Sankri, Uttarkashi
Approach: The peak is accessed via the Govind National Park, with the trek usually starting from the village of Sankri, followed by a trek through scenic landscapes, including Taluka, Osla, and Ruinsara Tal.

Congrats on the summit!! Enjoyed the short documentary. I wanted to know : 1. The level of fitness needed for 6000mts. 2. Did you/any of your crew use oxygen cylinder for final sumit day? Currently i can squat 60kg & bench 70kg for 10reps. Cardio is a bit weak, i can probably cover 5km in 40 mins.
No we didn't use any oxygen cylinders. Looks like carrying a backpack wouldn't be an issue for you. But you need to work on cardio. The ideal way to approach this cardio part is to concentrate on going long distances in terms of time. The level of fitness would 1) at least to complete two high altitude treks above 15000 feet. 2) It would be great if you ran/walk/hike for more than 1.5hours 3) Carry a backpack and climb stairs for 90 mins 4) work on stability, flexibility and breathwork. @@saimukunda6 I have done 2 treks of 14000ft about 3yrs back. But in my current condition and based on what you described, i need to focus on stamina for long cardio. Thanks bro for the tips!!

Yes you can! If you have prior knowledge in mountaineering or hardcore trekking, it will be great if you do it alone. But at present, you will be controlled by LMGA.

They will provide rock climbing shoes for AMC students and not BMC students. It is better to carry your own if you have a pair

Hello Ashish. Network will be there till Yuksom, Sikkim That's where you will start heading deep into the mountains Feeble network might be available at Tshoka, but don't depend on it. Electricity is available only till end of your stay in HMI campus.
