Tora No Tsume Dojo
United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 18 ก.ค. 2017
The Tora no Tsume Dojo is a school of martial artists that have a love and respect for all styles. We have given our lives to the martial arts and hope to share some of our passion with everyone. Train the future, save the world.
T.N.T. JUDO THROWS!!! (Nage Waza)
Judo Throw List:
1. Seoi-Nage
2. Tai-Otoshi
3. Sukui-Nage
4. O-Goshi
5. O-Soto-Gari
6. Ko-Soto-Gari
7. Ko-Uchi-Gari
8. Uchimata
9. (A.) Tomoe-Nage
9. (B.) Sukui-Nage
10. Soto-Makikomi
Here at Tora no Tsume, in both the Aikijujutsu and the Ryu no Tate styles, we only use ten judo throws. Of course, there are variations to each throw as well as techniques to counter and set up those throws, but the core of all of our throwing techniques is these ten.
Students from white to black are responsible for these throws. We encourage learning as much from as many credible sources as they can, embrace all arts, but these ten throws give the students enough variation to both understand throwing and have a backup for their backup.
These ten throws cover sweeps, reaps, trips, hip hinges, lifts, and sacrifice throws. Our philosophy is learn the ten throws. Work out what you do well and perfect that throw. Then have a backup for your best throw and a backup for your backup. Keep the whole list to pass on to your students. We understand that not every throw is suited for everyone. We try to have fun with it though.
Also, these are the throws that I will be doing on the "1000 Judo Throws" video. For those of you that actually read the show notes, I am not going to be doing 1000 judo throws to X here. That would be cruel and terrible training. If anything, I would do 500 and have him do 500 so we both get some of the pain and suffering...I mean so we both get some of the work.
If someone is going to get injured I would prefer it to be me. Because of that I am going to be doing the throws on Bob the grappling dummy. Make no mistake though, it will still be a challenge. Until then, I hope you enjoyed the video and at least found it entertaining. Train hard and I will see you on the mats.

This was taken back in the day before I had children I believe. I say that was about thirty maybe forty pounds ago lol. It was a nice day and I thought I would get some kata in while I was out with my wife. I highly recommend that you do kata at the beach. I will say that some kata work really well on the sand and in the surf while others do not. This one does in my opinion.

Great video brother! I’m watching all the way through to show my support for your excellent channel! 💯👍👍
Awesome! Thanks for watching. I appreciate the support.
1000 Judo throws sounds awesome bro! 👍👍 I’ll check out some of your other more recent videos too as I haven’t seen any for a while. Keep up the great work and have a fantastic week ahead too! 👍👍
Take a boxing class if you wanna box.
They didn't want to box.

Beginner
Yep! That's why i am working at it. Thanks for taking time to watch. It's much appreciated. Hit me up when you start dropping your content. I would be honored to be your first subscriber, and I will push your stuff to try and help you get out there. Thanks again.
1. I think the rounds that I did on the clock I should have added a bit of background music to. 2. I should have added a caption of what drill was going to be covered on an intro screen to each section. 3. Maybe some easy listening background music going the whole time. 4. A heavier tension bungee cord would have been better to hold the bag in place more.
That is dreadful.
And I appreciate you taking time out of your day to watch. Thanks for that. I am sure you looked much better at the beginning of your training. Good training to you.
Great work bro! Walking is a great exercise! 👍👍
Thank you so much 👍
Keep going bro and lose weight. Trying to get my husband to but he's too stubborn
Truth be told I was just trying to give myself a reason to wake up earlier in the morning. If I didn't have something to do or to look forward to I would just keep hitting the snooze button. Now I am on a mission to try and turn my "Dad-Bod" into a "Father Figure!" Thanks for watching.
@@toranotsumedojo I like that last sentence! Turning your dad bod into a father figure! Maybe if I use that slogan on him, he'll change his mind
Bro just walking around because he bored af 😂 but yeah.. its good for you and helps organize your thoughts so you do and feel better!
Nah, not bored. I got way too much stuff to do and am way too inside my head! Lol! Thanks for watching.

grandmaster barker taught similar joint locks very fundamental stuff that surprisingly useful in more situations than i could ever imagine
бля жуть
I tell my guys that there are only the basics and advanced technique is nothing more than the basics done at a really high level. That's oversimplified, but you get my point. Having said that, I find it interesting that the masters that I have seen that do the basics at a really high level do in fact have advanced stuff, but they never, ever get a chance to break it out because the basics work too well. It's like they never get to bring out the magical +3 sword of Heaven because they have a really, really good Swiss army knife that hasn't found a job it cannot handle.
Aint nothing like training Kata on the beach

Training gi in the sun is a good way to lose a pound or two! Haha nice
Lol. You got me! Yeah, got a Judo GI because I kept ripping karate GIs on the collar and armpits. This is my first judo gi. It didn't take me long to realize that it is somewhat of a training weight and it doesn't breathe. That last bit is a bonus when it gets cold. Thanks for watching.
Silliness.
I agree. It's so much fun. Thanks for watching.
I like it. I want to learn that kick feign from the legs to the ribs. That was fluid as hell.
Yep. Its a good technique. Thanks for watching. I will keep that in mind for a future video. Thanks again.
love the control, precision, no brute force just technique
Awesome. Thanks for watching.

Cool. Thanks for watching our video.
Nicely done, it's refreshing to see someone not hating on one-step sparring for change.
Thanks. Yeah, I like one-step sparring for a whole bunch of reasons. I think people that hate on it either have never done it and don't understand what can be learned from it or they have done it and grown beyond it, then they get to a point where they think they could have done without it. It's sort of like people that don't think martial artists shouldn't practice kata because Bruce Lee said remain formless even though he began in an art that is heavily rooted in forms. Thanks for watching.
Your explanation for one step sparring is very good. Thank you! The only thing I feel is that in addition to the standard techniques there were additional defensives against usual street type attacks. For example, overhands and hooks.
I agree 100%. This set of exercises is a foundation that we build our philosophy on. I use this to attach principles and concepts to. Think of it like learning the concept of arithmetic. You don't learn every permutation of numbers being added, subtracted, divided, or multiplied. You learn a few to understand the concepts and then you can move onto algebra and calculus. The foundational understanding is distancing, what we call "Star Stepping," The Three Initiatives, and what we call the "Self-Defense Roadmap." Once those are understood then we play with things like "Kime" vs "Chinkuchi", Ikken Haisatsu, kyusho jutsu, etc. Like I say in the video this is very sanitized. Later on we get into the weeds. We box, kickbox, grapple, clinch wrestle, point fight, etc. It's all in a effort to better understand the art and its application. Thanks for watching.
@@toranotsumedojo Thank you for your sage reply. Always a pleasure to watch.
Everything looks better in slow motion.
I think it depends on what it is, but sure sometimes. Thanks for checking out the video. Much appreciated.
This will get you killed in the street. Karate training is often useless for real fighting. They are weak punchers- 1/4 to 1/2 the power of a boxer, weak kickers and their defenses/blocking are idiotic. Any normal kid with 1 year of boxing, Muay Thai, judo or Brazilian Ju Jitsu can beat karate black belts in a real streetfight and I mean crush them easily.
Hey thanks for checking out the video. I really do appreciate that. I agree that karate is not the best for fighting. I would totally advocate for someone that wants to fight train in a fighting art. Boxing, Muay Thai, Wrestling, Judo every other art that allows practitioners to match with a resisting opponent is tailored for fighting. Karate, excluding fighting/knockdown styles of karate like Kyokushin or Kudo, are not made for fighting. They are made for self-defense. Though there is a lot of overlap the focus is very different. The goal of fighting is to win. The goal of self-defense is to never have to use it. What you see in the video is us going over principles, concepts, a philosophy if you will. Ms. Wing is learning how to apply the kata she is practicing, a few parts of it at least, when she is given forward pressure. Listen to the commentary, "Don't meet force with force." "Bridge with your opponent and maintain that stickiness." "Yield to the force by turning and come in from the side." What you are watching is a 10 minute mash-up of a single class going over a single piece of material. What you don't see is where either of them were coming from or the progress they have made. What part of the journey are they on? Watch some of our other videos where we are clinching and you can see them working on applying some of the techniques. They are getting better at their clinching and hand-fighting. Thier balance is improving, they are getting more aggressive, their conditioning is increasing, and they are almost beginning to blend. It is a long road, but I am sure they will get there. Again, thanks for checking it out! Also post some of your stuff. I would love to check it out. I will subscribe to your channel.
