I wanted to talk about players who have greatly improved their performance recently compared to the rest of their season. Profars ops on the season is about .860 and for the last month it’s been about .840 so he’s just staying really inconsistent. Great player this year though

Dude. Judge leads mlb in these categories. Home runs, RBI’s, Total bases, OPS, OBP, SLG, WAR, and is second in batting average.

@@worldwidehiphop2645pretty sure Marte has caught up and has surpassed him in some categories like war and batting average. The majority of the stats are pretty close except stolen bases with Ohtani having around 30 more bags but that can be easily levelled and maybe even outweighed with Marte playing some gold glove defence. It’s definitely closer then most people think and with Ohtani trending down post ASB while Marte hitting the IL for a few days I say this is definitely going to be pretty close for the rest of the season.

Shut up saying it's not even close. Let me guess, you're a Yankees fan? Bobby plays a harder position, is faster, and has a .2 higher batting average. If you think Judge should be MVP, I think that would be a valid argument, but Bobby is just as valid. I hate hearing Yankee fans say "it's not even close." Get real, it is close, it's damn close.

Judge can steal bases but what moron would ask the best and most powerful hitter in baseball and perhaps to steal bases at age 32. Even Rickey Henderson slowed down in his 30s. In 3 years if Witt steals 40 bases it would be shocking.

Unbelievable. Aaron Judge plays center field. The same position Mike Trout circle jerkers said was one of the most demanding positions. Aaron Judge is a good defender too. The only thing Witt definitively has over Judge is his stolen bases.

Age has nothing to do with MVP.

@@Jewdah18 You would be correct if the season were already over and we just had a complete season's worth of stats to consider. However, the video is talking about who we'd choose at this point. Age certainly is a factor in a 162-game season. Witt is less likely to fatigue or get injured. His body just doesn't have the miles on it that Judge's does. Of course, age is not the only factor I am looking at, but I am not going to dismiss it as irrelevant. Again, my approach is analytical, not emotional. I have no personal preference between Witt and Judge. I live outside their markets and am not a fan of either team.

@@Darbobski If anyone is likelier to fall off its Witt. Judge has already shown that he's capable of playing at this level for multiple seasons while still being in his prime. Witt on the other hand has never played nearly this well and has a super high BABIP which screams a regression is coming. Especially since Witt's offense is relies on non HR hits

It is close. Bobby Witt hit .489 in the month of July. Judge still wins the MVP but it’s closer than you think. Both are insane athletes. No doubt Bobby Witt wins an MVP of his own at some point in his career tho

@@Joe-km9wn It's not close at all. Judge's offensive numbers are far and above the rest of the league. He has the highest WAR in the league.

@@blueskittles5449Their WAR is pretty close depending on which variation you look at (Judge has a slight lead in both ATM) but Judge is kind of dominating Witt in all of the WPA stats and REW, so I don’t really think you can say that Witt’s baserunning and defense make up for the massive difference in offering production

Judge might hit a lot better but witt plays elite defense and runs the bases very well which in my opinion is just as valuable as judges hitting

Also if you use WAR as justification. Shohei is on pace to have a higher WAR than Ronald Acuna jr’s historic year last year, as a DH. If that doesn’t tell you its a bogus stat I don’t know what will.

@@brianhurt3271 Batting average is borderline useless compared to OPB and Judge is WAY better in OBP, SLG, and HR. It's not close.

@@TheHotMafia If Judge was playing RF at full effort like in years past then the MVP race wouldn't be a discussion but Judge is playing out of position in CF and not trying to catch balls that have the potential to cause an injury. The difference in fielding between Witt and Judge is real although since fielding is a lot harder to measure than hitting, I would assume the tie goes to the hitter.
