ANSWERING YOUR QUESTIONS....college, degree, SQL, projects, and more!!!
can you please help me? I have my degree in communication studies and currently work at a special education assistant. i am trying to transition into this field. What are the best certifications for cheap or FREE? and what is everything I should know/do to become a data anaylst?
you make me we want to go back and watch GOT!
Almost everyone I've talked to about GoT has said this....why??? lol
So what do you recommend to develop the skills to become a data analyst if this certification didn’t go into debt with what we need to know?
This is the most in-depth review on this course that I've found. Thank you!
😂😂😂 no nonsense woman. Don't worry, they can't get on your nerves.
🤣🤣
New to your channel. You’re amazing! Great content!
Thank you so much!
Hi, can I ask how much the store price for this bracelet is?
I would recommend that you go to their website : vancleefarpels.com. Prices change and can vary by country.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experiences with us. I found this very honest and helpful compared to other videos I previously watched. 🙏🏻
This is why I chose the IBM Cert
Thank you so much for your POV. Can you please recommend some boot camps, or additional certifications that someone should take to be ready for day 1 as a Data Analyst (transitioning from another field)?
I have a GIS background and looking to take this course to boot my skill cert especially with manipulating data or to test the waters with data analytics. This has been very informative
Not a single clue
Same
Your clover bracelet is so cute! Where is it from?
Van Cleef & Arpels
i didn't notice it at first... the black is cuter than the white one imo
You’re so beautiful
I'm sorry you're having an irritable day 😢 hopefully that IT email was auto-generated and they're not going to revoke your access... your Mgr needs an approval backup, chile 😂💁🏽♀️ what did you do to resolve the duplicates? After going through several SQL trainings, the consensus is that every column should have the Not Null constraint unless there is a good reason for allowing null. WDYT?
Hi, my Director approved my access request in my managers absence. He sent an email to our DBA's to get my access restored (see previous video). This happened two days after being restored & after his approval. In my case the duplicates were being caused b/c I didnt add a filter in my where clause. So I adjusted my where clause to resolve. Also, I was using a left join where nulls are expected due to the join type I just wasnt expecting nulls in this particular field.
@@NakyaSherrell thnx for responding 🙂 I hope you didn't mind me asking about the dupes... just that I'm learning SQL. 1) did you use "is not null" in your WHERE clause? 2) are you saying that you changed from a LEFT join to an INNER join (since inner joins don't include nulls)? just trying to apply a real like scenario, so your feedback is helping me 🙂
Hey, no worries at all. Declaring a field name as not null is typically used when you are creating a table that you will be inserting, deleting, or altering. In my case, I am using existing tables to write my query. If I used the not null in my where clause then I would probably cause it to become an inner join, which would exclude data that was needed.
@@NakyaSherrell I was wondering what would happen to the data that you need if the inner join only included the ON conditions.
What do you use to make forecast?
Please help me. My family is finacially struggling & i know i am really good at computer work but i dont have experience but i am a quick learner! How did you get into this field? Did you have experience already before applying??
This is Awesome!! Thank you!! And your skin is Impeccable! lol ... Great insight on the video and industry
Your review pretty much summed up my thoughts on this course! This is not a real certification, this only gives you a "certificate of completion" and not an actual certificate (in the traditional sense). If you want a real Data Analyst certification you can do the Microsoft Power BI (P-300) or Tableau's Data Analyst course which is an actual industry standard cert. Only downside is that it costs hundreds of dollars
Great video! Very informative and I loved the cake baking analogy you gave lol
thank you for your insight .. especially when mention if there any statistics on seeing this course would lead to any possible employment in this field. I if your unemployed some states have grants where it can fund courses like this and will be a decent addition to your resume. but personally, it's not worth the out-of-pocket expense.
What website did you use to self study SQL and other data analyst tools?
girl, I want to keep talking to you throught this video like we're in the same room, lol! since we look at the computer a lot, pay the extra buck to get the bluelight filter...honey! it makes a difference.
Hello fellow nerds, you DO NOT need a degree1 ...she's 100% correct, TH-cam, Coursera, and Udemy cost $0 or less than $20 , put those skills on your resume and you WILL get a good paying analyst job FAST! I smiled when you walked us through your career transition because your jargon makes me think we work for the same company...hehehe
1. How long have you been a Data Analyst? I've been a Reporting Analyst for several years now. I'm taking the Microsoft Business Analyst certification on Coursera now and I really like it...you have to complete a project before moving on to the next level. 2. I struggle with SQL queries when it comes to taking an ask/problem statement and knowing what query I'll need....tips/suggestions,?
new subbie here, hey girl hey👋 Don't you hate it when they keep asking for changes to a dashboard , lol my company has begun to automate some of the data analyst reporting (scary right)...so I'm getting my certification for a BA (business analyst) . as far as your phone call, sounds like your BA needs to distribute a Gantt chart.
Started my Data Analyst role 3 weeks ago. Puts way more context to your videos now! I’m in the process of moving all reporting from Excel to Power BI… long road ahead 😅
Hello I’m new to your channel, I’m learning so much about data analytics 📉 📈, I am enjoying your content. Keep up the good work.
Thanks and welcome
By far the best, most useful and most realistic DITL of a DA I've come across. Thank you 🙏 Im looking to transition into DA roll. Could you do a video on how you learned SQL for the roll. That's my biggest huddle
Thanks alot manager!!!
It wasnt my managers fault.
What kind of planner do you use for work?
I use the Erin Condren A5 daily planning inserts. The planner cover is from Louis Vuitton. I will update my description box with links.
Hello I’m currently changing my career path to data analyst. I currently have a bs degree in IST. I have a few excel certifications but no data certifications. What jobs do you recommend I can apply to to get my foot in the door? Also what certifications would you recommend I can use to get more knowledge and job opportunities? Thanks! Keep up the content. New subscriber!
I've been working in the field for about 10 years, first as a data analyst, then as a data engineer. I got my first analyst position right out of college. That position didn't necessarily require a degree or certification, but certainly required skills in excel and SQL. In my estimation, over the whole of a bachelors degree in computer science with multiple minors, the initial analyst position used the contents from about 4-ish college courses. The reason I took this certificate is that it's cheap, doesn't expire, and has introductions both to Tableau and R, both of which aren't covered in most college curriculums, and which I'd never used in my career, but which lots of jobs do ask about. As discussed in this video, the estimated time of completion for the course is based on doing one module per week. The time estimated for tasks is much more than necessary (20 minutes for a short reading, 1 hour for a short optional assignment, etc). In my experience, you can do each module in an hour or two, and complete each course in a full work day, meaning you could do the entire certification in about a week if you've got the time, or easily a month if you're doing it with just your spare time. Given the time requirements to do it, the entire certification feels more comparable to a single college course, except that it's much cheaper, and it's much easier to pass. The total required workload for the certificate is 28 graded quizzes approximately one for each major module or 4 for each course, each having about 10 multiple choice questions. You need an 80% to pass, but can retake them up to 3 times per day. Based on what you're learning, you're probably getting about 25% of what you'd need in order to actually jump into an introductory job in the field, but my biggest worry is that you're just learning it the wrong way. The certification is split into 7 courses plus a capstone, but in my opinion the balance and structure of the courses is misguided, and the questions on the tests are often irrelevant to what you actually need to know. Instead of basing each course on a technical skill you need to be familiar with, each one is based on one step of the analysis model that you're presented with in the introduction. That means there's an entire 7th of the content and test questions dedicated to asking questions to clarify a project before even getting the data, and only a single 7th focusing on doing analysis. In theory, there are 3-4 courses about using spreadsheets and SQL, one about using Tableau, and one about using R, but because of the structure of the courses, none of them get as deep into those skills as they should, and while they cover a lot of great material, the multiple-choice nature of the graded quizzes mean that they're often fill-in-the-blank questions about definitions and weirdly-worded single-sentence explanations of things than actually testing your ability to actually do any of the skills you were taught. The whole thing comes off as feeling like you got a couple courses that touch on what you need to be an introductory analyst, a couple courses that introduce you to things you'll need later in your career if you move into BI or engineering, and probably 40% that feels really irrelevant altogether. All that said, it still feels like you're getting a couple thousand dollars worth of educational material for $40-60, so it's a no-brainer in terms of value.
First i was gonna be a speech pathologist didnt get into grad. Then i said im gonna be a social worker got into that but said no i need to explore and utilize my current degree so i said ok let me self teach myself data analysis wish me luck hopefully i can be disciplined
i have my degree in communications and im going to self teach myself data analytics with alex the analyst so i can apply for a career switch
Great video Nakya!! 👏🏼 I think the only thing missing is your recommendation on what group of certifications, courses, boot camp, etc one should take as a whole… to actually have an opportunity to get a job as a data analyst… as a beginner or someone wanting to get into this field.
What do recommend after?
I'm currently enrolled in this course, and it's been really helpful, especially for beginners. Next, I'm aiming for the Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst Professional Certificate. Coming from an HR-Payroll background where I used spreadsheets and Excel extensively, I find myself constantly taking notes and sometimes feeling like my pace is slow. @Nakya.Sherrell, how did you manage to finish it in just a month? 😅 Your speed is impressive!

Is there an affordable course you do recommend?
Thanks for sharing all the “gory” details of a data analysis.
No problem!
This was exactly the info I wanted to know before moving forward with this certification.
thank you ! i learned this the hard way by taking this course i wish i hear this before taking this course , and when i reached the capstone project i feel lost !
I am just now looking into this type of ‘work’. I have been doing retail all my life and am going to learn something new. I do this type of work/information all the time. I like to learn what are the newest trends by going to all different social media platforms. Thank you for posting this information.
🎉
The Winston J B, Della V and Clark B M. Soooo let me stop there before I name them all.
😂
I just came across you video vía search on the Google Data Analytics certificate...and I am glad I díd. Your break down of the course and the timeframe is definitely a thumbs UP! You have a New sub
Glad it was helpful!
Great review. I signed up for this to update my skills/certs after a lay-off and realized this is the exact same process we had to follow when I had a grad level course on evaluating the effectiveness of educational initiatives. I think you're spot on about having the running project to help reinforce or help tie in the information to actual real-world work.
I’m taking this course and on the foundations. Currently I would say I’m loving it. I don’t know how the future courses would be like but let’s see how it goes. Nice review!
Whew. Sounds stressful. I wonder if it's exactly the same in the gaming industry? I'm writing a short film based on a Black Data Analyst and Game Designer. I've been doing research and whatnot.
Possible. But it may just be corporate America
