I sometimes make fishing videos while out kayak fishing. No editing or music, just me fishing.
Oregon Fall Bass Fishing Clouds, Rain, Sun, Rainbows and Hungry Bass
What a day on the water! Just amazing weather, low flying planes and hungry bass. I think I live in the most gorgeous place to fish on the planet! I ended up with 24 bass and 3 pikieminnows. Biggest smallmouth was 3lb 9oz and 19". Water temp was 60 degrees and the bass were on rocky points and humps in 15-25' of water. Just feel so lucky to get to fish in such a beautiful place!

Hagg Lake Mixed Bag
มุมมอง 200วันที่ผ่านมา
Hit Hagg for trout but ended up only catching only 3 of those (decent size at 12, 14 and 16"). However, I did get 3 other species (bass, crappie, bluegill). The bass were small but the bluegill and crappie were nice sized. The biggest crappie being a little over a foot long. Overall it was just the kind of wonderfully pleasant day that Hagg lake so often provides!

Day that started out bad ended up being pretty fantastic. After not getting a sniff in the first 2.5 hours I was able to stumble upon several nice groups of fish and ended up with 19 by the end of the day. Best fish was 19" and 3lb 10oz. Only bummer is that my camera glitched and I missed several fish on video including an 18.5" 3lb 2oz beauty. Same thing happened earlier this year. I am not su...
Tough day on the Willamette
มุมมอง 15028 วันที่ผ่านมา
I hit the Willamette with expectations of catching 50 bass with some nice ones mixed in but I could only manage to scrape out 13 small bass. I fished hard all day long for those fish with some really long lulls between sporadic bits of action. I am not sure if I could not find them or if they just weren't biting. The only thing I did not do was beat the bank (maybe they were tight to shore beca...
Zoom Z Craw + Wobblehead = Smallmouth
มุมมอง 135หลายเดือนก่อน
Hit the Columbia river out of Stevenson on Saturday the 6th. Smoke was bad, wind was good and the fishing was great! 24 bass with 10 of 17" or more. Best 5 went 14lb 4oz not sure of the lengths but definitely over 90". Lure of the day (accounting for all the better fish) was a 1/2oz wobblehead (or swinghead) jig and Zoom Z Craw trailer in green pumpkin. Just an awesome day on the water!
Gorge Wind with the One Two Punch
มุมมอง 1192 หลายเดือนก่อน
I hit the Columbia on September 1st because the wind forecast looked so good. The moral of the story is never trust a wind forecast :) Wind was East in the morning and made it pretty rough, then it switched to the West and really picked up to over 20mph later in the day. Tough day in mostly tough fishing conditions. Only 14 bass with a few 2 lbers being my best fish. Plus I knocked in my measur...

Lol flopper
@tmkayakfishing8236 That bass said, "I didn't hear no bell"
Lol flopper
Couldn't motivate myself Sunday.
Was your tournament on Saturday? You had a good day there - except for the recording issues. I wonder how many more fishable days we have left this year on the Columbia? Hopefully still a month or so left.
@@pdxfisher1 this last video was from June i was trying to get it uploaded 4k. so i re uploaded and deleted the old one. hopefully we can fish for a few more weeks. Walleye social is next month out east looking forward to that event
@@tmkayakfishing8236 OK, that makes sense. I was amazed you were doing so well fishing shallow when all my fish from Sunday were out of deep water :) Have fun at the walleye social. I have thought about trying for walleye out of Stevenson but I have never given that a try. I think they are out deeper than the smallmouth from what I have seen posted in other folks' videos. Have fun on your walleye trip!
I have picked a a few small bass trolling coho up there. So many nice coho around but a tough year getting them to bite compared to the last two years. I bet you will get a coho bass fishing and that would be a wild ride on light gear! Also very tasty.
I saw a lot of coho splashing around and had them follow my lures in several times but did not have any actually chomp. Maybe some day!
@@pdxfisher1 they are really hard to get this year! I got a really nice coho today trolling a brads wiggle wart as fast as possible in about 16’ of water. Its seems to be the only way I can get them to bite.
@@ag8782Awesome! Congrats on getting one to commit!
@@pdxfisher1 Thanks! Felt lucky for sure.
Thanks!
Mantab mase
Nice jump 😊
Hate when that happens 😊
That aint a god, stop OMG like a littlebitchboy. You are your own god, worship you!!
Confidence builder for sure.
@tmkayakfishing8236 No 5lber like last week but still fun to be out there. I am always amazed how well the Outback handles rough water.
Did ya eat it?
@@ScotteM No. Catch and release.
@@pdxfisher1 respect but he sure looked tasty
Amazing! What a great day on the Columbia and man, that fish! Thanks for sharing.
@@RichardHostetter-y5h Thanks! I was a little bit excited to catch that fish!
I noticed the same thing! Caught close to 75 a mile or two up river 4 weeks ago with one pushing 5 lbs and then 2 weeks ago we struggled to catch 25 and couldn’t find any size. Interesting observation about the smolt! Makes a lot of sense I definitely noticed them chasing bait a lot more in mid-to late July. The big ones are always trickier for me to find in the late summer - early fall… probably not fishing deep enough.
Glad to hear it's not just me! The river just felt emptier. I definitely need to mix up what depths I am fishing more the next time out.
I caught one of those the other day by cascade locks on a tube. I was actually impressed with how hard it fought.
I think the big ones put up a great fight and they hit like a freight train!
Beautiful setting. Boat loads of bass. Nice!
Way to go, Buddy! Ol' Crick
@@bwoneymaddic446 Thanks Ol` Crick! I had not fished with my buddy yet this year and we had such a fun day - except for the stupid gulls who kept trying to eat my top water :)
@@pdxfisher1 Gulls pester me too when they perch atop my roof!
@@bwoneymaddic446 They see you out there racking and stacking them and want to learn your secrets!
This place looks beautiful. @pdxfisher1 minder sharing the location?
@@TheHastate The Columbia gorge is really beautiful, especially on a rare, calm day!
Happens a lot with walking baits. The fish zigs when the bait zags.
@@unicornsteaks6769 I think this is the answer. I never felt the fish, I don't think it ever got its mouth around the stickbait.
😂😂
Cause your not jerkin, just reeling and to fast
Cuz you're sitting there all damn calm
Not hungry he is just tail slapping the crank bait. Could have cranked really fast to get a reaction strike
Ah well. I hookset everything..even rocks and bushes lol.
Set the hook
@@AidenSmith-b6n I usually wait until I feel the bite. Maybe if I had jerked I could have hooked it.
I like to use my shirt as protection while I just grab the line directly and hand reel it in 1 fathom at a time. Like I'm looking at my pole begging it not to break
I'd tighten the drag and let em tow me around for awhile 😅 weeeee
Learn the art of the flip, keep tension and direct it where you want until the last moment and bring it out of the water onto your lap. Kinda hard on a yak but doable
That is good advice but the rod I am using in this video is a light action and I would snap it. I do sometimes boat flip bass with my casting gear if I don't have my net.
@@pdxfisher1well get yourself an Ugly Stik GX2 brother 😆, ya aint snappin that 👍
Hey, Buddy! It's Ol' Crick!
Hey Ol' Crick! Not the day I was hoping for but at least it was steady action. Really far from one of your days! You are the Queen of Quality Bass for sure :)
Still looked like a super fun day
Its always fun to be out there, just more fun if you can catch some quality fish
That was a great day.
It was good but I lost too many fish and missed too many bites. Just felt off my game a bit.
The absolute WORST feeling as a fisherman lol spits it out right at your feet
The pain never completely goes away!
Wrong the worst feeling is when the fish snaps your line and you never get to see it at all
@@MasonWilson-si3mv if I can’t touch it and get a good picture of it, I don’t want to see it lol it’s to enraging
What lake is this? IM heading out to Hagg this evening...tight lines.
Columbia River. Good luck at Hagg!
Beautiful bass and a beautiful place to fish and your again smile, again and again, makes me smile too. Ol' Crick
Thanks! I am feeling a lot better. Days like this are definitely good medicine :)
Awesome
They were sure stacked at that confluence. Ol' Crick
Too bad they were just dinky sized :)
Maybe Post Spawn is very close? The larger ones are still at the nests perhaps? I have seen some folks upriver around here in Salem getting the 2+ lbs now in the sloughs, so hang in there a couple days from now they could break out.
I would have thought that they would have started spawning but the fish had no tail wear. It seems like ether they spawned a whlle ago or they have not started yet. The rock island slough only had some dinks. A buddy of mine did find some better fish a bit further upstream.
@@pdxfisher1 I'm pretty sure spawn is nearing the end (a week later than last year). I just thought maybe only the small ones, too young to spawn, are biting. I saw that here in Salem in a city lake where I can see the larger largemouth not interested in lures, but I couldn't keep the little ones off anything I used. I imagine largemouth and smallmouth have similar habits. But at least you got out and caught some fish. Good to see you back.
Man I live adventure
good job
Thanks
nice
I saw you out there. You battled through the gale force winds! That spot in 25 feet of water was great. We caught at least 30 off that point. Good job 👍🏻
You all were on fire! I am glad you left a couple for me :)
I'm still waiting for my river to calm down so I can go after smallies, but I'm scouting out other areas that might let me get on the river soon. Good to see your day wasn't a total disappointment.
I have not fished the Willamette yet. The current is still to high around here. We are lucky that the Columbia current is usually just fine this time of year.
@@pdxfisher1 thanks to google maps, I'm finding sloughs and backroads that lead me to them that are not private. Also some tucked away State Parks no doubt established during the 70's when McCall and Straub tried to make the Willamette a huge 200 mile long park. Got some back road driving to do.
Good Day you had!
It was an OK day. Numbers were a bit low and this time of year, if I don't catch a 4+ I am a little disappointed.
Nice
How can i get my kayak out there is there a boat ramp nearby?
Cascade boat ramp. Stevenson WA.
nice work, love your vids.
Much appreciated!
Good you got out
Bite was really good. I thought I might see you out there.
Beautiful day like that. Even with no fish, it seems like a great day! ;-)
when do u go fishing bass again master.
I am sure they are feeding now. I will head out next day I have off when the wind is fishable (assuming flows stay reasonable).
@@pdxfisher1 tomorrow I head out there too first day fishing 2024
Good luck! Early season is big bass time!
Thank you for the report! Might get out there soon.
