A year ago, my dream felt unreachable. But with determination, research, and support from my amazing wife, I'm now making it happen! 🚀
Here's what you'll discover in this video:
❌ My failed attempts and how I overcame them
💡 How a change in mindset made all the difference
🛠️ The paths I took, from endless job applications to learning new skills
💪 The sacrifices made, including borrowing money and working multiple jobs
🏆 The wins that make it all worth it - like starting school, networking, and achieving my dream of flying a C-130!
It's been a roller coaster of emotions, from feeling discouraged to inspired and fueled with purpose. And financially? I'm making it work through careful planning and hard work, without relying on sponsors or Patreon.
My ultimate dream? To help orphans achieve their pilot dreams too!
Thank you for your support! Remember, we're all about "Living the Unlikely" here.

Introduction to the "Poor to Pilot" project!
Schools try to convince students to go integrated because these programs are much more profitable for schools, they charge a premium for organising your training instead of you organising it module by module. Also in terms of treasury it's better for them because you pay almost the whole sum upfront (huge risk in case of bankruptcy). Their main argument is that airlines prefer integrated cadets because of consistency of training, etc. That's something that was maybe true 20 years ago but no longer applies. Ask any pilot recruiter or serious Head of Training and they'll tell you the same. After having consulted about 10 flight schools through Europe, I've come across commercial schools that push you go integrated and others which are very modular friendly and are very supportive in helping you become a pilot in a modular way. Pilot training is purely governed by for-profit organisations, they all try to make some profit out of their business. It's a true jungle, there is good and bad, cheap and expensive. You have to search carefully what's best for you
Thanks for the inspiration bro! 👊🏾
hello mate! i wanted to check your instagram to send you a message but it says page not found
Aspiring pilot here, 28 yo, still studying the PPL theory. This video touches upon a topic that is very little talked about: the financial pressure to reach a FO position after graduation. And here is where being "poor" actually becomes a chance. So basically in Europe there are two paths to become a pilot, namely integrated or modular, whose exact characteristics are a topic for another video. What I observe from my experience and which is a total disgrace, is that integrated pilots spend a lot more money and very often they contract heavy debt to finance their training, after what they feel pressured to reach the right hand seat asap to start earning back their investment, and it often involves accepting to pay a TR on their own (an additional 30k). You will often hear "yes but paying for your own TR has become the norm, you have to accept it, blablabla". Big fucking NOOOOO !!! If no cadet pilot accepted to pay for his own TR, how do you think airlines would type-rate their new pilots ?? Exactly, airlines would pay for it. It's because people accept it that it becomes the norm. Now I believe the great advantage of modular training (the path for the "poor" if I may say so) is that if you manage to get all your licenses up to the MCC by paying it gradually without getting into debt and possibly while keeping your job on the side, then you can afford to be picky and not accept any BS asked by some airlines (like the 30k at Ryanair, just to mention them). Not only modular training will equip you with great life experience and maturity which you will be able to showcase during airline interviews, but it will also keep you free of any financial obligation/pressure to speed up the process and accept self-funded TRs or any other crap that lousy airlines come up with, which only distort the industry and favor the rich
Engaging Bro, bless up
Love this vid man! Great info and tips!

Thanks for the strength brother! Were are getting closer 💪🏾
If you take the integrated, they have you because you need to pay all or a periodical payments but if you take the modular you have him. Because you only pay by you do. I know because i did integrated. When i had the theorical atpl and 185hours the school clouse. You going out with nothing. Well i have the hours, they certified. 15 years later i start again to achieve my dream but modular. Keep going
Love it thanks great video
Thank you for the attention 🔥

Hey man! Great motivational videos, thnx! I'm from Belgium and just started PPL at an age of 45. Making my dream come true like you do! Have a great time!! 🛩🤘
Wow!!! That’s awesome - out of curiosity: how much does it cost there? Keep us posted about your journey - God bless 🔥🔥
@@PoortoPilot Here in Belgium PPL will cost between €15.000 - €20.000 I think overall pilot education will cost here a bit more then in Portugal. In my opinion (especially for PPL) there are far more days to fly VFR in your country than here. Flying 2 times a week compared to 2 times a month will make a huge difference in progression. Because of that i'm thinking about maybe going to Portugal/Spain/Greece to do the PPL-part. In my country I will have to spend at least 1 - 1.5 year due to the 'poor' weather 😉
Good Job .! I wish you good wishes for your dreams !👍🏻

DUDE! Keep doing videos like this and your channel will blow up :) really informative and entertaining!
Hey - thanks for appreciating this content! Let me know what you think of my most recent ones too 😁
Concordamos a 💯 Agora…
Awesome! Congrats! 👏👏👏

Im currently 17 turning 18 this year December yknow ive felt lost because I am also trying to go from poor to pilot with no friends or acquaintances in the industry the i use the internet to learn as much as i can about aviation. Im leaving high-school this year so im planning to become a fire fighter and get myself through flight school for if im not flying i dont want to do anything else.
I feel you and I congratulate - I wish I was as focused and verbal about it as you are at your age! Wouldn’t the Airforce be an option for you?
