A language & communication specialist with a passion for space games & sci-fi.
I’ve been immersed in the world of PC gaming since 1994 - back when multiplayer meant packing up my PC and heading to my nerd buddy's house. On this channel, we primarily explore the universe of Star Citizen, with occasional forays into other space games. With a cup of speciality loose-leaf tea in hand, we’ll embark on epic space adventures, uncover gameplay tips, and delve into the cosmos.
My professional expertise lies in language and communication, so you might encounter related topics on here from time to time. When I’m not navigating the stars, I’m sharing second love as an educator in the speciality tea industry.

That's a great video! Thanks to your vid, I _think_ I transcribed the Banu Luminalia inscription on the RSI website this year? [AE TSIKTI EFANGA. TA TAMZÚTO] [AE EWANJÁWE. FA FANGWAE TSETAE] now to translate it...
As a Banu fanboy since 2013, I applaud you for this, Méja! I eagerly await any further videos you decide to do on the Banu language! In the mean time, I’m re-reading the Rust Society guide for the third time 🤣
@masterchefstirx Aww, just seeing this now (guess who's back in hibernation mode, haha). Thanks so much for the kind words - they really mean a lot. While I don't have the energy or time to make more Banu (or SC) videos right now, I look forward to the day our paths cross in the 'verse - in Protectorate space, of course. 🪸
@ don’t worry, as a fellow creator I’m feeling the hibernation settling in too 🤣 I’ll see you in the verse, friend!
Since when the banu r sound is a flap and not a trill?
Recent research by renowned field xenolinguist @brittonwatkins3100 has found that some among the Banu cannot produce a trill. For them, it is completely natural to render the /r/ sound as a flap. This highlights the variability and adaptability within spoken Banu as a living language.
@@MajorStarstuff fair enough, as long as the banu ears can hear it.
Ah yes, Major starts in Klescher. No questions asked.
That was weird how you were stuck in comms at the target locations.
IKR!
Not sure what happend, the stream got interrupted at the same time I had connection issues on my side. Have a good night.
At my end, I experienced: game crash, OBS frozen, TH-cam stream dead, Twitch stream still working. Danke fürs Reinschauen - hat mich sehr gefreut! Bis zum nächsten Mal. 🚀
Hello, i would like to know if your still going to do the number episode?? If not where did you find the banu numbers chart so i could look at it myself because i cant find it on the official website.
Hello, and thanks for checking in! ✨👨🏻🚀7 Unfortunately, I’m currently unable to dedicate the time and resources needed to create more videos about xenolinguistics. For the Banu numerals, I recommend you refer to the Rust Guide (pp. 41-44): robertsspaceindustries.com/media/dmounif4a28xhr/source/RSBG-V4.pdf.pdf

no idea what this is, but cool!
Sorry I know this is an older video but I was wondering about use of " fo " "Tanya inya fo kafinae" Lucky to see "you" everyone I thought " ino " meant "you" Why is it not.... " Tanya inya ino kafinae " ? I have " fo " written down as meaning... belonging to; be the property of. Sorry just trying to understand. Love these videos, they are a BIG help
No problem at all! Thank you for your kind words. I'm delighted to hear that the videos continue to be helpful for some people. The concept of "you” (sg.) and “you all”/“everyone" is actually embedded elsewhere: namely in the contracted forms “kafino” and “kafinæ.” These are derived from “kafo ino” (sg.) and “kafo inæ” (pl.), respectively. As for “fo”: This “T4 verb”, as it is classified in Banu grammar, has a number of functions/meanings, but - for the sake of simplicity -, in this case, you can think of it simply as “to”. I hope this clarifies things a bit?
This was a fantastic video! I've wanted to learn Banu for years, but gave up figuring I had already failed to learn a proper second language. But here, you make the language sound so fun and inviting! I also love the Banu script and would like to learn how to read and write in glyphs. Please consider making more videos. Maybe with more people doing stuff pike this, there could grow a large enough community of Banu enthusiasts that finding learning material and exercises won't be so difficult in the future.
Our group had a huge argument on the advance the warlord rule. If that rule let's the warlord get multiple battles equal to prowess then yes it's then the most op faction that I don't see how they don't lose.
They actually came in LAST in a recent tournament. There's a good video about it where a girl documented all their win ratios. Lord of the Hundreds came in dead last, even behind the Vagabond. Because everybody gangs up on him, and because his scoring model is so simplistic and easy to predict, it makes it easier for other players to defeat him if they form an alliance. All you need is a unified front line to deny his advancements. The fact that everyone's afraid of his mob tokens fire 🔥 spreading to their clearing randomly (even if he didn't want it to spread) makes POLITICING with the Lord of the Hundreds impossible. So they'd rather keep you far, far away from their bases rather than ally with you, and risk the mob token unintentionally spreading to their vital infrastructure. As the The Art Of War states: Appear strong when you are weak. Appear weak when you are strong." The fact that they can never [voluntarily] appear weak is their greatest weakness.

wow I'm banu illiterate !!
Need to add these SC alien languages to Google Translate.

If only I had an SSD in my brain to remember all of the new languages. I have a hard time mastering German and I am in Germany using it daily.
