Very cool clip!
What do you have for Trucks? I can’t tell if they are full size/half ton trucks or Colorado size.
We both have the mid size Canyon/Colorado
Turn the music down!
Thank you for the feedback, the audio was fine when I tested it on the computer, phone and through headphones. I did notice on a TV the opening background music and the ending music is a little loud
Sounds like you had a great trek. I’ve been traveling the Northwoods for over 50 years. The Golden Road, while remote, is not like the Lewis and Clark expedition. So travelers need not worry but should be well-prepared. I did one of those trips in the late 80s in my 2-wheel drive minivan letting my 13-year-old son drive. Easy Peezy
Yea the Golden road is a easy trip, with amazing views and just remote enough to feel like your lost in the Maine wilderness!
Might I suggest you redo the video with the piano music turned down? It's louder than the narration. I was looking forward to watching this. We drove the Golden Rd in and around a few others a few yrs ago. I took the American Standard Rd out though.
The piano in the opening is a little loud compared to the narration for sure. The rest of the video is fine though I made sure to test it on multiple devices. I’ll make sure to adjust the background video for the opening in part 2 🤙🏻
Great video.
@@WilfredoBrito-s6d thanks for watching 🤙🏻
Nice video! Can't wait for part 2! I'm just a few hours away from that area in Southern Maine. This is a great preview for my bucket list trip.
@@svtben it’s such an amazing area to explore!
The roads are alot smoother @ 60.😂
Can confirm lol.
Care to share the last lake camp spot
It’s called lucky pond primitive camp site. It’s one the north side of Moosehead Lake
Never know where that road goes ,tell you check it out sometimes its a wounderfull view
Exactly!!! You’ll never know unless you just do it. That’s what ends up happening when we find the epic campsite later on in this series
“*INSTER EPIC MONTAGE*” 🤔 I see your keyboard works like mine. Enjoyed the video!
You caught me! 😂 I definitely fat fingered that but noticed it way too late. Glad you enjoyed the video 🤙🏻
Ya my wife’s old Subaru has logged a number of round trips on the golden road. Ya certainly don’t need the rigs you guys are driving. 😂
Oh absolutely! The golden road and a majority of the logging roads around it aren’t hard at all! But having the rigs made the adventure as a whole more enjoyable
4x4 not required in NMW, just talent. Last year I was passed by a built 1960s VW Bug, Was north bound on Russell Mountain Road. I was rolling at 40MPH and they blew by close to 70! Big ol' basket rack on the roof too
@@redrallywagon 😂😂😂, yea the logging roads are not hard at all, we did find some side trails that a Honda civic might have trouble on without AWD lol
Great video! I've been poking around onX at golden road and was wondering if this route would be doable in a 4x4 Sprinter van? Wondering if the road to Jackman from golden road would be possible in the van
Yes, absolutely the trail we took from Jackman to the Golden road and then the road itself is not at all technical. Remember most of these roads are logging roads so 18 wheelers have to be able to travel on them
Suggest you have E rated tires and a full size spare on your rig…
I run ten ply tires on my pickup, never lowered tire pressure. Spent months on the Golden road and in the Northwoods. Moved to the Katahdin region last year , it’s all close to home now.
A local!!! It must be awesome having the northwoods as your back yard. I have E range tires as well and usually we only lower pressure to help smooth out the ride. I know plenty of people that have gone up to those logging roads on 4 even 8 ply and have popped tires
@ definitely, don’t run street tires on them. One of the biggest reasons we moved here was to have the Northwoods close by. . Last year some adventures were put on hold due to some health issues. Hopefully we spend most of June through September out there.
It’s a friggin dirt road. Your mom’s mini van could travel this route. It’s nothing special. Trees, trees, dirt road, trees . No view of anything. Let’s not hype this up
@ troll much?
Your right it is a road, and no one ever said it was hard, I never said I needed my built up rig to travel these “extremely difficult” logging roads but you’ve also never travel this particular route because they is definitely some amazing views 🤙🏻
I love Maine! Worked up there and the rest of New England for a year. Beautiful…Great vid, guys!
Thanks, it is a beautiful state to explore!
I have a camp not far from the B52 site. When I saw your map outlining going from there to Jo-Mary I giggled. The AMC bought that land over there and threw up a bunch of gates so you are forced to go one particular way so you have to pay to get through. the paper companies put up gates a long time ago but I see private land owners place many more over recent years. Sad and frustrating for sure. Glad you enjoyed your stay.
Yea it was a little unfortunate running into that gate but made for a good adventure on a fun trail.
A really nice production guys. This video is an excellent representation of the backwoods of Maine. I work in Somerset County, ME. We take off and hit the back woods trails every chance we get. What kind of comms do you keep? GMRS? No cell service in those parts of Maine!
Thank you!!! Maine is truly awesome. We both run GMRS 🤙🏻
The sugar shacks out on that end of the road are sight to see. You went by a good size one by the dam on dole pond.
Yea the one on Dole Pond was big!
Until it burned down last year....
Was it bigger? Cause there was still a large buildings right next to the intersection right at the dole pond dam
@@AT4OB That one on Doyle pond road is smaller, about half the size, was retro fit in a hurry to support the operation that burned. It was directly on TGR, about a mile east of Doyle pond road junction. Was quite the sad sight to see last summah. Rumor is Quebec Bombardiers were at the border ready to provide aid, but US CBP wouldn't let'm roll thru
You deserve more sub. Great video!
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
I wish Maine was only a 6 hour drive from me, I’d be there a lot! One day I’ll make it up there and get explore its beauty. Can’t wait for part 2!
I wish I could just drive out there whenever I wanted too but even 6 hours seems far 😅
🔥
I’ve never driven on that road, but I have driven roads/trails from Moosehead(Greenville Junction) to Jackman(Canadian border), down to The Forks, and back to the lake in my RZR. Amazing country up there.
It’s crazy the trails systems go on for miles and will connect you to pretty much anywhere as long as you don’t mind the longer and sometimes more challenging ride.
If RZR is an ATV you would not be able to drive on a large portion of the Golden Road. Much of it is in the Northwoods and they are prohibited there. If it isn’t anATV you continue out through Kokadjo onto the North Road to Sias Hill and that will take you to the Golden Road near Caribou and Chesuncook lakes.
*Insert epic montage here* 😂 that suspenseful music in the background 👌
😂😂 you liked that? Thanks for the recommendation 🤙🏻
Great video! Maine has so many adventure spots... subscribed
It really is an amazing state to explore! Thanks for the sub! I hope you enjoy the rest of the series. And don’t forget to watch the original Maine series 🤙🏻
I go to Maine every weekend its a big part of why I bought a ZR2.
Wow every weekend? I wish I could do that! Well you didn’t go wrong with getting a ZR2 for Maine travels 🤙🏻
fun video thanks for all the hard work and hope to see you guys out there someday!
Thanks for watching! I’m sure we will be seeing you out on the trails one day 🤙🏻
That washout was on Williams Mtn Rd, wasn't it? Just off of Capital Rd.
Sure is! We were trying to camp at the spot on Misery Pond right before the washout but it was taken.
@AT4OB those are my stomping grounds. Feel free to reach out anytime you're up in Maine ;)
We will definitely be going back up there again! We have some unfinished business as you’ll find out in part 2
@@jdsmaintenanceI took my son up to the forks for his first time bird hunting. I thought it'd be a good idea to go down the lower enchanted road hit the Lois and Clark road come out by bulldog camps..... I forgot the area flooded a year or 2 ago Lost both front shocks on my truck came home on just springs never saw a bird 😂 and wow them bridges are getting old they ain't much anymore I made him get out and cross before I took my truck. He asked me what would happen if I went through I said there's 4 other trucks in here that need to come out the same way lol we will be fine.
Very much enjoyed Part 1. Looking forward eagerly to Part 2….. and those ghost trains!
Thanks, Part 2 is going to be an adventure for sure! We were excited for the Ghost trains too 🤙🏻
I’m planing a trip up there in the summer. 😊
It is definitely worth the trip! We will be returning for sure in the spring maybe
Nope. Maine is sacred and reserved for locals. Try Oregon. They like people like you. Mainers hate out of staters. Contrary to belief…
Unfortunately it’s not and if you’re a resident that feels this way then I apologize. My family is from Maine and I know they, and many others, don’t share your opinion
How much$$
The price was advertised during the video 🤙🏻
Good review of the heater. I know nothing about them so the breakdown was beneficial. Time to go winter camping!
Yes it is time for some more winter camping!!! When we going?
Nice review. I’m interested; but I’d have to figure out how to duct the heat inside my 4Runner. Probably some sort of insert that I could roll down a window part way and put in.
I’m sure there are plenty of options to get it to work for inside the 4Runner, they might even have a insert on their website since they advertise it as a car heater
@CrippleCreekStudios I run a portable diesel heater with my FJ. Here's what I did: 1) Trace your window out with some paper; 2) use that to create an air-tight insert that pops into the seam using black corrugated plastic; 3) cut a 3" hole (or 4" depending on your heater) out towards the top so that you can run the hose through with the window rolled down just enough. I have mine running through the front door for obvious reasons, but if I was to do this on the 4R, I'd set it up either on the rear door or rear hatch. Works like a charm and the plastic insert stores away under the bed easily since it's so light and thin. It also has decent insulation but if you wanted to take it a step further you could glue on some Reflectix as well - I didn't bother.
Great video man. I have the standard V1 of this diesel heater. Couple tips for any diesel heaters: 1. Pull the excess heater hose into your tent and just run it around inside along the edges of your tent mattress. Lots of heat is lost through the hose and the sharp bend and kinks will slow the air down. Pulling a bunch of slack in makes sure that heat "loss" goes into the tent (allowing you to run it on lower settings, etc..) It also allows you to put the heater hose outlet down by your feet or something like that. 2. Make sure your exhaust is pointing down, there's moisture that develops in there and it can build up. The muffler has a little weep hole on side, that should be facing down so the moisture can drip out.
Thank you for the tips!! This is my first diesel heater so I definitely wouldn’t have realized that about the exhaust. As for the duct I figured heat would be lost from the hose hence why I went with a insulated one but it makes sense plus I’m guessing on super cold days having it around the mattress gives extra warmth.
Don’t forget to check out the Teaser Trailer for our return to Maine adventure!! Video will be coming out very soon 🤙🏻
While I enjoyed watching this video, you *have* come a long way on your channel. From this video to today (Dec 24’), video resolution and storytelling is where you’ve made a big improvement; and I haven’t been a subscriber for very long. Can’t wait for what’s next. -Chris⛰️🚙
Thanks Chris! I’m glad you noticed the improvements in the channel! I’m always thinking of ways to improve my video quality and storytelling to bring everyone the best adventures
people still buy GMC products? why?
I bought it to be different from all the taco fanboys 🤣
Hey where are you out? Im in NH and try to find the hardest trail in NH an VT. I havent seen this one before. Would you be willing to give me an idea where it is?
Hey I’m actually in CT and don’t know much about NH trails but this one is the class 4 road that starts off Arthur Morgan Rd in Woodstock, VT. It’s one way so make sure you enter from that direction. All classes 4 roads in VT are closed till April though for snowmobiling
@AT4OB Thanks for the info. So do you just go around New England looking for trails?
I wouldn’t say I go around just looking for trails. I’ve taken adventure all up and down the East coast exploring new places along with finding places to off road and camp.
@@AT4OB How do you find trails? I am always looking but the only way I find them is if I come across them in person. I hardly ever see any info online from people talking about where trails are in New England unfortunately. I have essentially a street driven rock crawler to wheel with so thats why I am always looking for the harder trails in the area.
Honestly I find trails the same way. I also used OnX off road but that can be hit or miss in New England. The pilgrimage event gives everyone that attends access to a OnX folder with all the class 4 roads marked by difficulty so that’s the only reason I can find those in VT.
Makes me want to return! Like, right now! Literally .... packing my bags. Byeeeee✌️🫡
Yes absolutely, I’ll meet you in 30 minutes! Might be a little snowy up there though 🤣
Goal for 2025 is to join you guys for a trip
We’d be happy to you tag along 🤙🏻
Fantastic! The color. This will be good.
Glad you enjoyed the teaser. Maine is beautiful. Hopefully the full series lives up to the hype
This looks like such a cool event! Your opening shots are amazing and got me hooked
Thanks for watching!!!
What a peaceful place to hangout!
What an amazing adventure!!! Its amazing that the North East has so much to explore but its rarely talked about.
Is this challenge open for all, or invite only? This looks like a blast!
It’s open to all!!! All class 4 roads in VT, no matter the difficulty, are public roads and require a registered and insured vehicle to be on. Just be mindful of private land and signs some class 4 roads do get gated off and they are all closed till April for snowmobiling
@ I figured the trail itself was open, but I didn’t know if the VOT challenge was like a scheduled event that could be registered for.
Oh no the VOT Challenge is just what they call this trail/class4 road. Still don’t know why 😅 but yea you can access it whenever it’s open after winter. I just so happen to be on it during the pilgrimage event
Just stumbled upon this video to and the channel. Great adventure. Native of CT, so I hope to bump into you on the trails.
Thank you it definitely was a crazy adventure!! I’m sure we will see each other one day out in nature 🤙🏻
Loved the relaxing vibes 👌 and the sunset was perfect in some of those shots 🌅
It was even better experiencing it in person lol
Very picturesque river. And cool night wheeling! Nice video.
We are lucky to have a spot like this close by. Probably the only good one in CT. Thanks for watching 🤙🏻
This is in CT? That’s a great spot. Super relaxing❤😊. 😊
Thanks for the video. I will be installing one of these very soon. Waiting for mine to come in
It’s a great product especially with the phone and mic holder
