Life's a Journey

I bought myself an X'Air in 2022 that was parked up in a hangar for nearly 4 years.
Some TLC and she is flying again regularly. Still, a couple of things to do, but big boys and their toys are never done spending money...

Life has a habit of getting in the way and sometimes it feels as if you just hanging on and being taken for a ride. Totally out of control with no way to get yourself back on track.
The funny thing is, that you are not alone. Every single one of us has, at some point, been on the border of a mental health crisis. Some even went all the way...
My aim with my flying is to raise awareness of how "common" mental health problems really are.
I ask my passengers to share their stories and how they cope. While introducing them to the joy of flying, in most cases the first time, a light aircraft.
Yes, some of these flights might be long and boring for some. But keep in mind, it is not about you. It is about the passengers prioritizing themselves and letting go of their stress and life struggles for a full hour.

Tres bon site et trés belle petite base , vous devez vous régaler , bon vols a tous , salutations!!!!

looked like a nice flight.
It was! Surprised there was no one else flying
Hi Fred, thank you for uploading these videos. I’ve done one lesson in circuits into RW17 low field. I’m hopefully absorbing Jackie’s instruction through these. Time will tell 😅
I'm glad you are enjoying them. Just don't copy my bad habits.😋
Flying towards the sunset it's so beautiful
It was rather special.
Another terrific video. Love the view of the other xair flying on the right.
Thanks. We are 3 X'Airs at Kernan now so who knows what is going to happen next... Currently experimenting with a couple of external cameras.
Lovely day for flying,do you use a transponder,, what changes are you making on your iPad from to time ,
No, I am not transponder equipped. All kinds of information you can get from SkyDemon. Mostly confirming frequencies, estimating distanced, heading and time to landmarks not part of the flightplan. Basically getting used to managing my resources. This season I want to work on getting more comfortable with ATC. Not having a transponder, I will have to make accurate position reports and estimations from time to time and SD is a valuable tool to assist in this.
Nice one Fred. Nice to finally meet you!
Yeah, finally. LOL Was a bit distracted at the time. Catch up next time.
Nice view for the landing, I’d like to have that ability some time but hey, the joys of putting adequate mounts on a rental. Umm no. 😀
How is Stephen doing it? He would have a camera on top of the vertical fin at times.
@@lifesajourneyclub Not sure. But I don’t want to be spending a lot of money or time and effort putting it on and off either. Ladders aren’t my thing lol
Nice landing!
Thanks
did you find out what the mystery noise was?
General consensus is that nothing looks like it is falling off, so it should be fine 🙂 In all seriousness, it looks like the port gas strut. Have a badly positioned side view and you can see the spring bottoming out. The landing must give it just enough energy to put it in this bounce. Not sure if you can service them...
great view of the landing
It sure is!
I have a question can you fly from kernan valley to Belfast international
Sure you can. As long as you have a radio and follow the correct procedures.
I think yesterday I saw some
There were to typhoons at Belfast international airport
@@lifesajourneycluband plenty of money for the landing fee 😀
@@Mraviation34 That was myself and 2 other Skyrangers. We flew to Belfast from Navan, then onto Kernan. We got handling from Woodgate, £50 landing fee, no handling fee. Once you have a transponder and a radio they'll let you in. It was fun landing between all the Easyjet flights.
The approach to St Angelo over Lough Erne is my favourite. Flying over the Fermanagh Lakelands is class. 👍
Great video by anychance were you flying today?
No. I have to work once in a while to pay for the fuel and maintenance LOL
Poor you It sounds expensive I saw an ikirus c42 close to my house
Wow - That looked so fun....This is a hobby I'm considering.....
it is a whole lot of fun Timothy and way more affordable that you can imagine.
Hello I’m 17 from Derry/londonderry looking to do nppl soon as Ive a few hours in Cessna for ppl but looking to change how much should one budget for nppl and also can I ask on average what is the price to buy a microlight such as an xair Thanks
Hi Deon, Yes NPPL is a lot cheaper to do than a PPL and way more fun in the long run. How much it is going to cost is difficult to say. It depends on your performance. I would suggest you get in touch with Northern Light Aviation at Eglington. They should be able to give you a rundown. The costs of microlights varies considerable. If you looking at X'Airs, anything between £4500 up to £7000. Best is to keep an eye out on www.afors.com/three-axis-microlights/for-sale Remember the running costs as part of your budget for buying something.
@@lifesajourneyclub thanks a million much appreciated
@@deonogorman928 You are welcome. Hope to meet you in the skies sometime.

Were you flying to day?😅
I did. Will upload a video sometime next week.
I saw you where going north of Armagh it was a busy day cus I saw another and you you on flight radar 24
@Mraviation34 yip. Was good weather and everyone was flying the whole weekend.
Tbh the end was kinda off butter it always sounds hard but when you have the headset on you think it's an a330 landing
That looks amazing can't wait to be on this journey with you
Me too!!
Well done but maybe instead of the music a little commentary about the beautiful areas you fly over villages etc, would really add to your already excellent videos
Easiest thing to do to fix this is to cut the ambient audio and just use the video. Again - happy to help.
It was a wonderful flight - only thing that drove me nuts was that the cameras weren’t in sync which made the audio splashy. If you need help lining it up there are tricks to make it easy.
Thanks for the offer. The videos are not intended to be perfect but informative to myself for use as a debriefing tools and as a bonus the my passengers when I will be using two cameras. The problem is GoPro using non-standard bitrate of 48kHz as appose to the rest at 44.1kHz.
Brilliant Fred. What a joyful passenger.
Was great fun
“I can see it now”…. after the wires. Sorry, I laughed at that 😂 Glad she enjoyed it, I’ve been reminded more than once that Allie hasn’t made it to the Mournes yet. The weather hasn’t been good enough the days she’s been up. 🙃
There were so many funny moments on this flight. Easily rank as one of my favourite flights
Omg we are on u tube 😂❤
I did warn you 😁 So glad you enjoyed the flight.
another terrific video.
Great job Fred. I need another hour or 2 with Jackie before i attempt 17 on my own!
An hour with Raph will get you going. Even with near-zero wind LOL th-cam.com/video/RJ6c0TYGhV8/w-d-xo.html
Nice flying!!
Thanks. Didn't feel that good at the start. Was a bit rusty.
@@lifesajourneyclub I haven't flown in about 6 weeks. Weather and life get in the way sometimes! Let's hope the weather improves and it's a great summer for us all.
Didn't get much flying myself either. That was one of the reasons I decided to give 17 a go and refresh my skills. Was damn hard work. The video does not do it justice.
@@lifesajourneyclub I'm not ready for 17 yet. You did a great job. Anyone who hasn't seen 17, won't appricieate how difficult it is. If I ever attempt it, I'l have Ethan on board. It scares me!
@@skyrangerswift2ireland practice the approach profile into the lowfield. You have enough space there to fix things if it goes wrong. Its more in your head than anything else... 🤔🤔🤔
I was there today
Had a passenger with me today so did not spend any time at the clubhouse. Maybe we will meet some time.
I was with Jackie
What age do you have to be to train for a pilot
@@Mraviation34 The minimum age to begin training for a UK NPPL is 14. You must be at least 16 to fly solo, and you must be at least 17 to hold a UK NPPL www.bmaa.org/information-library/pilot-licensing/the-nppl Link to all the info you might need

Tandragee, Northern Ireland. One way out and one way in under normal circumstances.
So hello there ,I'm rebuilding my first xair and I see you fly regularly, I wanted to ask you,any advise on engine management on your 582 Rotax??
Not much that can go wrong. The most important thing is to take your time warming up properly. Typically it takes me around 7 minutes.
Love watching your inflight videos ,trying to learn a bit from them.
