PRS Mark Holcomb: 7 vs. 6 String
มุมมอง 2.8K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
Hey everyone! I have been in love with these guitars for a long time and I finally get to call myself the proud owner of both! I'm so excited to finally have a nice 7 string as well. I'll be writing a lot with these coming soon!
PRS SE Mark Holcomb: A Love Letter.

This guitar is simply incredible. I have been playing it nonstop for the several months that I've owned it and I am nearly inseparable from it. It has so much mojo and plays like an absolute dream. This is just a demonstration of what it's like to riff around and practice with this thing. Let me know if you recognize any of the riffs in here :)
Writing a Killswitch Song on Accident (READ DESC.)

I wrote this idea completely independently and have never listened to Killswitch Engage before. I showed it to my coworker and upon listening to it, he said it sounded very similar to "My Curse" by them. When he pulled up the song, it was very apparent that I had concocted a very similar idea (same tuning, very similar chords, and a rhythm section that was nearly identical). Needless to say I'm...

I just got the seven string version. I've also got tiny hands and short fingers. But I grew up playing bass. So I think I'll get comfortable with it in time.
gnarly bro, love the Polyphia tat as well!
the playing at 2:30 ripped my face out of my @ZZ. damn u got some serious talent
I've noticed that most of the Blue burst show a very variable veneer on the top, estetically changes the guitar from 10 to 0, some specimen are very figured, like yours, some others are way too cloudy
This is some of the nastiest tone I’ve ever heard dude. Going to try one these soon.
I just bought one exactly like this and I'm really impressed, it feels great and didn't have any problems I couldn't fix myself as a novice guitar tech.
Such a great guitar dude, I freaking love mine, especially for the clean tones you can get with the coil tap
Hey Jeff! Merry Christmas and Happy 2025! Congrats on your new guitar! Mad skills! Thanks for sharing!
Also, With the pickups having no treble it's usually becasue the tone pot sucks or is a cheat dime sized 250k pot. Just Bypass it and it gets way brighter that's what i do with my cheap guitars i don't wanna swap the pickups of
I’ll take a look into that! I’m alr planning on swapping pups and electronics so maybe before I do that I’ll try bypassing it!
What to expect: 💩 💩 💩 😊
Fr bro
very well-made video!
Appreciate it!
That Neurotica cover was crazy good!!!
Thanks! Probably my favorite song to play atm
love your content bro! keep up the good work!!!
Thanks! Will do!
I have a naut And they don't get tap unless you got poor postal service that kicks your packages but yea the nauts really good but it sounds a little strange (louder than normal) I do wonder if it's a clone
It definitely wasn’t a clone since I bought it directly from squid. I sold this thing like a month after I got it because I just wasn’t happy with the tolerances but this video is almost 5 years old
@ ooh I didn't even notice the date man, great flipping btw
Got the two but inverted colors and pickups. Amazing guitars!! Congrats for the review and your playing style ;)
That’s awesome dude! I wanna try the blue 7 string sometime just to see if there’s any difference lol
@ not really, just “cleaner pickups” you know!! Which pups do you prefer ?? AO or SS?
Honestly I like the Scarlett and scourges better but I’m very impressed with the alpha and omegas. I just think the 7 string would benefit a lot from the clarity from the Scarlett and scourges
Can I get an honest thought on this 6 string SE version compared to a Schecter C-1 SLS Evil Twin, I'm trying to decide between the two, I mainly go for that similar metal tone/playstyle. No locking tuners or stainless steel frets on the PRS seems like such an odd choice to me. I've heard great things about this guitar though but everyone talks super highly of the evil twin as well with the fishman fluence moderns pups. Any thoughts? I would really appreciate it.
Hey dude! So I’ve never played one of those before but comparing the specs and features to the Holcomb 6 I find that the main differences are the fretboard radius, tuners/frets like you mentioned, and pickups. Personally I love the PRS body style and that was a big factor as to why I looked at the Holcomb. I also prefer passive pickups to active pickups. The fretboard is super flat on the Holcomb (20” radius vs the compound radius) and it’s such a fantastic feature. When I bought the guitar, I bought locking tuners the same day and installed them immediately. So I think mainly you’re really looking at the difference in pickups and body style. I love the modern s-style, but the Holcomb looked so polarizing and felt fantastic so I was more interested in that. If you have the chance to try both, definitely try them!
Awesome, just found your channeñ keep the spirit and share those presets, love the mid gain! I never lear how to use the EQ, so if you can make a video how to use EQ on periphery tones and your guitars I'll love it Im also a big fan of periphery and polyphia :)
I’ll see about making a tone video!
Thanks for the vid. I have the 7 and have thought about grabbing a 6 but just never pulled the trigger. Btw I got an Evertune installed in my 7 and it was life-changing. Finally, I would love to see a video detailing your EQ settings
Maybe I’ll make a video going over my favorite tones
@@jeffyzuluI will be waiting too, I also have the 7 strings 😃
Wicked Sic!!!😀😀😀😀😀
Such a genuine video. Please don't stop creating.
Thank you!
great video, whats the plugin that you use for its only smiles
I ran neural dsp plugins for all the guitar tones in the video. I used archetype nolly x for its only smiles
@@jeffyzulu thanks you, your awesome
Fantastic video and great insights! Never got into music from the players perspective. I did work with a band for several years, behind the scenes. Passion and the drive! Keep it up! Always thanks for sharing!
I got the 6 string model two weeks ago and it’s definitely the nicest guitar I’ve ever owned. Still getting used to the 20” radius on the neck definitely different than the Ibanez I used to own, but I like it.
Whats ironic to me is that I was eyeing the original 7 at first and thats kinda what got me to get the blue 6. It's a great guitar, and it came in Drop C. It's been in C standard,Drop B,Drop A#, and even CGCEGD, and it does not disappoint. Im very happy with this guitar
Yeah man the blue 6 string is goated. I love that guitar so much. It’s funny bc it was the other way around for me. The 6 string inspired me to look for a 7
@jeffyzulu nice. I'm contemplating getting the 7 but there's an Ibanez calling my name more so than it lol
Buy expensive guitars to play through VST or FX processor 000 0 00 0 0000 0000….🤦🏻♂️😂😂😂
Gotta djent man😩😩
Try Elixir polyweb strings I can assure you won't be disappointed. I tried them all and can testify that polywebs are unbeatable!
I too have both dude and they are great, I have the walnut version of the 7 and it rips but the scarlet and scourge six is great for its own thing as well.
This guitar is metal AF
Very nice Jeffy. Keep it up bro!
Thanks g‼️
dude how'd you know this is exactly the guitar ive been eying for so long.
Trust me bro it’s so worth it
super dope! this came up in my recommended. I tried the 7 at a guitar store and damn was it nice!
Thanks man! It’s a heck of a guitar!
Very well rounded video! I have the og 6 string version and I recognized all of those polyphia and periphery riffs from the second you started playing them! I've been using the Schecter Tao-7 for my extended range stuff. Awesome playing man!
Yeah dude I’ve heard that the Tao-7s and 8s are fantastic guitars. I looked at a few of them before I decided on the Holcomb sig
The Tao-7 is fucking insane, 6 months and I’m still not over the honeymoon phase of owning it 😅
Great video! Beautiful guitar and amazing skills and talent! Thanks for sharing!
Appreciate it man!
absolutly amazing brother :)
Neon Ofc ❤🔥
Keep writing bro this sounds really good! Also I love this type of video I think you should make more
Mad skills and amazing sound! Thanks for sharing!

“i just shit everywhere”
Absolutely phenomenal man :)
Dang dude Polyphia is tough to play. Hope to see a full cover some time
holy crap, this is amazing. what song is this?
Thank you!! The song is “Playing God” by Polyphia :)
Pretty clean man, good stuff 👏
Thanks man I appreciate it!!
Some interesting looking pickups!
Yeah I kinda wanna switch em out. They’re definitely something lol
