We make clothing and accessories inspired by our daily lives. In our free time we build motorcycles and other times we spend the afternoon fly fishing, dirt biking, working on an old truck or whatever the day brings. We try to find the balance between work and life and most of all, we like to use our hands to create things that are timeless and built with attention to detail. We care about what we put our time and energy into and we hope the things we make inspire you and help you along your path.
Howdy Moto is our outlet for fun, building and collecting vintage motorcycles, parts and random cool old stuff.
Enjoy!

Born Free 16. Stance Check
We are hard at work building a 1951 Triumph Pre Unit show bike for Born Free 16.
After many long days of cutting, grinding, welding and preparing the frame we wanted to take a quick look at the overall stance of the bike. We are using a 21" spool hub front wheel with a 1920's Harley Davidson Model B springer front end. In the rear, we have an original 19" rear wheel for late 1940's and early 50's Triumph Pre Unit rigid frames.
Here's the first look of our build. We have some big ideas for this bike and we can't wait to share the process.
Thanks for watching!

We are doing it again! Born Free 16 Invited Builder with something really special for this years show. We are starting with a 1951 Triumph rigid frame and a pile of parts. Follow along as we go though the many steps it takes to create a full show bike. This is the first of many videos; we are cut everything off the frame that isn't necessary for the build. Just leaving it clean and simple. We h...
Triumph Engine Build
มุมมอง 1.1Kหลายเดือนก่อน
The 1950's Old Chrome Triumph Chopper gets a fresh rebuilt engine. We found the Pre Unit engine cases at a swap meet just a few days before making this video. We had already found a crank and cleaned out the sludge trap with the help of David Bright. We replaced all the bearings, cleared out all oil passages and got to work. This is just a quick little video to show the process of building this...

Chrome Triumph Chopper - Party at the Pen
มุมมอง 2.4K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
We built this 1950's Triumph Pre Unit Chopper for Party at the Pen Show 2024 in Boise, Idaho. Every part on this bike is old chrome. Each part was collected over the last few years from swap meets, other projects or specifically tracked down. The vision to build a bike with only old crusty chrome parts started when we found the frame. After we got the old chrome Wassell peanut tank the project ...
Crusty Chrome Triumph Pre Unit - Riding Around Portland
มุมมอง 4.1K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
1953 Triumph Pre Unit with old chrome parts that were collected over the years, some were tracked down and others fell into our lap. It all started with this crusty chrome frame, the old chrome Wassell peanut tank came shortly after; piece by piece the vision started to take shape and it feels like a dream come true to actually ride this old thing. We built this for partyatthepenshow.com as an ...

Here's a little video repairing the bottom of a Bates P Pad (pillion pad) and adding new foam. Step by step: 1. Use an electric knife to cut the new foam. 2. Shape it with an orbital sander. 3. Cut the new bottom out of leather (die the edges black) and use Masters Contact Cement or Barge works good too. Attach everything together. 4. Poke holes in new bottom base using the original top leather...
How to Shorten Triumph Forks
มุมมอง 7373 หลายเดือนก่อน
There are a few was to shorten your Triumph forks to lower your front end, but this is something we came up. We have seen a lot of people do a similar technique to there modern dirt bike forks so we applied that same idea to these Triumph Pre Unit forks from the early 1950's. We luckily had a set of shorter springs, but all you have to do is cut about 2" off the original springs and add a space...
Chrome Triumph Chopper / Front End

Installing the triple trees, fork tubes, fork dampeners, mcm fork shroud covers and slapping on that wheel wheel so we can take a look at the stance. It all started when we got this old chrome frame, and slowly more old chrome parts started coming into our lives through the various projects we were buying. After awhile we started seeking out cool crusty chrome parts and putting them aside for t...

This particular peashooter front end does have some history linking it back to a really cool custom triumph. We feel very lucky to have had the chance to purchase it and use it for this build.

All Day Long!
Glad you dig it!
Dope.
Love you dude!
what year front end is that? i have a few early triumph front ends but maybe they aren't as old as i thought.
This is an early 1950's front end. I believe they changed to a later style in the mid 50's.
I like seeing other people's methods of pulling that fork damper rod up haha.
Doing the front end isn’t so bad once you get a technique figured out for pulling up those dampener rods.
Nice to see an old British Bike turned into such a piece of art, makes a nice change from all the Harleys. Good job.🙏🌻
