I Bought a 1963 International Scout 80! Budget Bronco Gets a Brother
It has been a while but I am happy to be back with a new video!
With this video I am an starting a new video series on a new project truck that I recently bought, a 1963 International Harvester Scout 80. This is truly a project, TONS of work if it is to ever get running and road-worthy again. But as they say, it's about the journey not the destination. I may never get it running, but it will be fun to wrench on this beauty.
If you are a Scout owner or know a lot about them, please let me know what you think in the comments. Thanks for watching!

2021+ Ford Bronco - I made a custom leather shift boot and it almost broke me!
มุมมอง 2.3Kปีที่แล้ว
This was my most difficult project thus far! It might not seem like a lot, but I had to figure this out on my own, and I have almost ZERO experience using a sewing machine. Fortunately, my Mom gave me some guidance and that helped a lot. The results are pretty good. Not professional level good, but good, and nothing compares to the satisfaction of blazing your own path and figuring something ou...

Welcome to Budget Bronco! 2 Door Ford Bronco Base Projects Introduction
"Money pit!" - Scotty Kilmer 😂
Great video, thank you. Subscribed.
Appreciate that! Glad you found it helpful.
Awesome project looking forward to videos on the progress.
Stay tuned and thanks for watching!
Looking forward to all this Scout goodness!!!!
For sure! Next up I will be inspecting the engine...
How much did they pay you to tow it away?😂
Let's just say it was very inexpensive 😂
your a gear head u will get this bad boy into shape
I will give it try! Thanks for watching
Yeah, that definitely isn't going to pass PA inspection 😂 But what a fun hobby. I hope you paint it aqua blue at the end of the project 💙
HAHA no it is a loooooong way from that but would definitely look good in blue. Thanks for watching!
Are you still happy with the size and brand of your choice of tires for the Bronco?
YES! The Bronco tires have been awesome, no regrets at all.
Looks awesome. Great job
Thank you and thanks for watching!
That looks amazing! I just purchased my 2022 2 door in eruption green on monday
Awesome! Green with a white top would look amazing.
The 2 step in Texas. Wife & I got sideways/stuck at 34* angle in 2 Door. We’re we’re Bronco 1. Meaning we were first to do all the obstacles. It was Awesome !
You got it! Glad to hear you enjoyed it...beautiful country too. Thanks for watching!
excellent thanks
You are welcome! Thanks for watching
Super helpful video and pretty easy. Would I use the same bulb if I wanted to replace my brake light as well?
No, unfortunately it is not that easy for the brake/turn bulb. Subbing in an LED might cause problems like flicker or warnings
so it didnt help
Not much...looks better though! Thanks for watching
Can I just replace the speakers without any scanner editing?
Yes you can, no problem there. The FORScan edit will just make them even better.
Just wanted to say thanks. Bought the 56468 by mistake. I installed it with the help of one of your other videos. Then solved the non working issue using this video. Your instructions were CLEAR, and EXACT. For a non technical person (myself) I was able to run the wires, change the pin configuration and complete the installation myself. Thanks again. Keep up the great videos
Awesome! I am glad it worked out for you. Glad I could help!
Any issues with the 2.3 with stick gearing ?
IMO 33" tires with the stock 4.46 gearing is perfect
@@BudgetBronco gotcha. I have an auto and it’s 3.73
thanks for the details, I did this and put the same pair on the rear.
Oh nice! I have not put anything back there, not yet anyway. Mine still look as good as the day I installed them two years ago, they are very durable.
Are you still happy with these tires?
Very happy with them. People speculated that they would not wear evenly with this setup but that is not the case. I have 20k miles on them and wear pattern is normal. The only negative comment I would make is that the sidewalls have greyed a bit, but I have also not made any effort to treat them with any kind of product to prevent that.
Well deserved Like!
Thanks for that!
I really like the Bronco Heritage plaid interior. I think it makes it interesting vs. just 2 colors.
Yes it seems like a love it or hate it kind of thing. I definitely appreciate the retro nod, it just is not for me. Thanks for watching!
Great video - thank you. Where do you stow the 4-pin connector when not in use?
Thanks! I later installed a connector, here is the video: th-cam.com/video/H0PKvZPd0iU/w-d-xo.html
Tnks for the vid man ❤
You are welcome! Thanks for watching
Just replaced my four speakers with bass reduction crossover up front and used the same Infinity units. Only deviation was adding sound deadener in the rear boxes and I did not reconfig via fourscan. Much improved clarity and can now hear the rear units for a much more satisfying experience. TY for the how to!
Glad I could help! Addition of sound deadener is a good option.
nice
Thanks!
Thanks a lot for this video. I replaced a stripped wheel stud with the help of your video and brake maintenance mode worked as you instructed - thank you!
Awesome! Glad I could help
lol, save hundreds on bronco mud flaps by spending thousands on diy tools..
You should check out a place called Harbor Freight Tools!
Thank you for posting how to dismantle the shift boot
It is pretty easy to get off if you know where the clips are...thanks for the comment!
Did the shop have to trim the bushing on the back for the spare tire to go on properly? Thanks.
Yes, I did that myself. Forgot to put it in the video. I just used a sharp Exacto knife or you can use a similarly sharp blade and just trim a half inch or so off, just carefully work your way around. You want the spare to sit nice and straight up and down vertically.
@@BudgetBronco Thanks!
Awesome video, just finished doing the front and rear upgrade in my 23 big bend.
Nice! Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching
Trying way to hard to make new broncos look retro… doesn’t work, just buy a classic
Funny you should say that...stay tuned to my channel I have a new video coming right along those lines....
Thank you! Just did this upgrade on my 21 badlands sas today, super helpful video!!
Awesome! Glad I could help and thanks for watching
What bastard made a bulb replacement so complicated?
Haha true, not like the old days. Thanks for watching!
Just came back to this today as I am ready for my first top removal, so glad I saved it when I first saw it. Sooooo much better than anything Ford ever did! Thank you for publishing such a helpful video!
My pleasure, glad I could help!
Tim, it’s been a couple of years with the Grabbers, what is your opinion on them now?
VERY happy with them! I have about 20k on them, they are wearing evenly but still have lots of tread on them. No issues or problems. The only negative thing I can note and it is pretty minor, is the sidewalls are greying a bit. I have read this is cosmetic only and does not affect performance. I have never treated them with any kind of product so maybe that would help
@@BudgetBronco Thank you, Tim.
Unfortunately Amazon did me wrong and I ended up installing the LED version on my Halogen tail light Bronco. I rewired per the video and everything works fine now. Should I still cut and ground the red wire? That was one of the wires you had us relocate. Appreciate the video!
I would say if everything is working perfectly, why mess with it?
Great video!!🤝 I want the first edition for my birthday!!
Thank you! I hope you get one and like it as much as I do
Can you get access the filter from the top or underneath?
From the top, no. From underneath, yes. But trust me, the easiest access is from the wheel well.
Following this video, my Brake mode wouldn't disengage, and now I can't tell if it 's engaged or not, and now I have warning lights on my dash
Try following the instructions again. If you have FORscan you can also use that to re-engage. Try flipping to switch to turn on and off the emergency parking break with the engine off. If you you hear a 'whirring' sound coming from the rear end for about 1 second, that is the sound of the brakes engaging/disengaging and if that is happening then you know for sure the maintenance mode has been turned off. If not, do not drive it!
Thank you sir appreciate 🙏
My pleasure happy to help, thanks for watching
Nice hacks here on how to pack them into that dang bag. Thanks! Also worthy of note: when packed in the back, you are now on side mirrors only. Rear view is completely blocked.
You are correct....thanks for the comment and thanks for watching!
How has it geld up driving? Looks awesome 😎 I'm thinking it would look good in my maverick like this in cactus grey
Holding up great! No chips, nothing (oh wait, one ding on one wheel when I dropped my torque wrench on it when tightening a lug nut). I will say one thing tho, the white gets dirty quickly, but easy to just hose off.
@@BudgetBronco looks fantastic! Thanks for the response
This was a great resource, you’ve earned a subscription haha. The only change I noticed to a 2024 big bend with stock plastic under engine protection is that there is a bolt in the middle front of the rear plastic panel that needs to be fully removed to slide the rear panel out, unlike the steel ones you showed where you just loosen the two front bolts and slide the panel out.
Good to know, thanks for the comment and the sub!
Amazing video. Reslly clear guide and easy to follow what you're doing. I think I'm going to try this with my mazda 3
Thanks I hope it works out well for you! If you decide to go the easier route and buy one, check out these guys www.redlinegoods.com/ if nothing else the installation guide for your specific vehicle may help
Well looks solid enough and a fraction of the crazy costs of other flaps. Like you mentioned, painting the screws black would look way better. Nice job!
They are also holding up really well. They look as good 2.5 years later as the day I installed them. Thanks for the comment!
Looks factory, or what Ford should have done. And a lot cheaper than metal ones, although the metal ones for the front do have a light or camera mount slot
Oh interesting, I have not seen those. Thanks for watching!
I love Guinea pigs
Nice!! 😂
Do you still recommend these tires after all these years? Great content btw.
YES! Very very happy with them. About 16k miles on them and they are wearing very nicely. I expect to get at least 30k miles from them, likely more. The only negative I see is that the sidewalls are hard to keep looking nice, they are taking a greyish hue to them after 3 years. I have read this is common, and is only cosmetic, does not affect wear or function. I also have not made any effort to keep them clean with any speciail products, only standard car washing.
Hey Tim. I originally installed a Takonsha system on my base Bronco with Halogen taillights. My trailer lights did not work.I have just rewired the connectors as you suggested but still doesn't work. Only running lights work. No turn signals or brake lights. Any ideas?
Which Tekonsha part number did you install?
Thank you for this. I was never really able to figure this out on my own.
Glad I could help!
