I tend to specialize in building models of things I find fascinating, from a fully functional 1:12 model house to a miniature walking strandbeest model.
Currently, I'm building my own version of an early 1900s Chandler-Price Letterpress - from the base frame all the way to a functioning ink disk!
If any of that sounds interesting, I'd love for you to come along for the ride!

Building and learning to sail a model sailboat
On my northeast trip, I built and sailed a model sailboat. And found out that sailing is pretty cool!
I found my sailboat plans in an online publication called "The Coastal Passage". Here's the article (thecoastalpassage.com/cheapcat.html) and the whole issue (thecoastalpassage.com/papers/tcp75.pdf).

im so confused about what scale this model is because the plans say its 48th scale but it Looks like 12th scale, its too big to be 48th scale surely
Ive watched a few of these now and i feel it necessary to ask: has anyone ever tried building a scale model with anything other than modern aethestics and construction methods? My dream house is a mixed log/timber frame and I have yet to find a video of a model utilizing this style.
More info on what you used to cast the rollers please, thanks
the walls should be drywalled before you install the doors
We don't ever put tongue end Groove on the walls we only put it on the floor
Way more likes and comments than what you got I'm doing the same thing at home and I know how much work it is looking good keep up the
You are the Tony Stark of letter presses. Love this series!
Make a video on your model making tools and objects and please give the link of prodects
Believe it or not Crisco makes an effective ink cleaner so you don’t end up having to use a lot of solvents which may wear through the steel.
Is it possible to buy rollers that you just slide onto the metal centerpiece? I have a vintage price that needs rollers replaced and I don’t know how to go about that.
Kerosene is a great ink solvent.
wow man! amout of effort it takes.. respect ❤
You could double the length of each link and use standard 1/2 inch width without milling down. Would save a heap of work.
Great video. No judgment but do you have a form of Autism? You display mannerisms I recognise in myself & people I know.

Hi there Ryan did you get your machine made? I'm collecting ideas to build a mechanical ant with 6 legs driven by 1 double shafted electric motor and gear box and since there is only one motor all the legs will be in sync with 3 on the ground at any time ,, 2 legs on one side and 1 leg on the other side all running with bike chain and sprockets, I will be sitting in a seat behind it doing my shopping I think the kids in town will get a kick out of it.
Thanks, good idea, good design and good video
Bravo! Nicely done. Great TH-cam presentation.
I give you credit. That’s a lot of work. If they are precise in roundness and have the correct durometer, might work. Otherwise you may experience pounding. How did they turn out?
Fantastic work, my goodness. Excellent work in the footsteps of Theo! My son of 7 years (Ray) and I loved and learned from your video.
Hi Ryan This isn't a criticism, it's an amazing feat you have accomplished, the rollers:- if both roller journal or stocks are made of metal and then so are bearers (the tracks at the side they run on) they will wear but also slip, the bearers are always metal but on more modern platens the journals are made of a hard nylon, on old platens there would be a leather strap on the bearers and you would then shim under the strap with strips of card to get the correct type height. This was done so the leather would wear and could be replaced not the metal bearers and journals.
Hi Ryan, I'm so excited to introduce you to my Granddaughter! She literally just started her first sewing project making a pillow and went straight into the difficult task of making a compression packing cube. I think she's going to love your tutorial! Could you give measurements of the bag you're showing so she has a reference point to start the project? Thanks so much!❤
Really nice, but why didn't you simply run a bead of glue for each row of shingles?
God SENT!! 📐💫
Good story.
This is actually a very good idea, especially when you look at the crazy prices for such a large square with such a lip from Woodpeckers. Even cheap knock offs are expensive. I wonder if, from using it, you think of adding a piece of wood to both side so that you can use the square in more situations.
Hey Ryan, I spent a few months researching the whole wide web to see if anyone has some more detailed plans on a press like this... Never found anything besides an unfinished 3D-model. And now, just by adding "cad" to my search, your stuff shows up. This is amazing. My plan was to try and make a 3d-printable letterpress. I just wanted to thank you for being kind enough to share your work. I got some videos of yours to watch now.
Amazing! Glad my project could be helpful. Definitely send me some photos if you get something working! rsg1egoman@gmail.com
Is there templates available to print off?
I have a video a bit later on where I released some CAD models after I got the thing mostly working!
So cool!
Fun video, thanks for sharing. Where would a newbie find a list of the various materials used?
Great Job Ryan. I think I'll dig out my old Adana from the shed and fix it up a bit, perhaps try printing things.
The tension on sewing machine is loose needs adjusting , I think you need a size 14 needle the one you used is a bit large thus making seam holes big, as a general rule I always get scraps of fabric to get the right tension ! I’m like you if I do something it’ll eat on me till I redo right , this is a learning lesson! I expect you will do better ! Great tutorial!
Love what you’ve done. I can only dream of what you’ve done, although I wouldn’t attempt it myself. I’m more focussed on the outcome than the journey. Makes me appreciate more the treadle platen press I have.
👏👏👏
Lol Ceinture et bretelles des écrous freins avec de la loctite...
Mason had a little too much to drink.
This is so coool!
With what you invested in building this press which i get, you could have bought a 10x15 chandler and price with new rollers, ink, tympan paper, the proper gauge pins, proper furniture, proper chace locks.
Over kill on the sheathing bro
Forgot to film it. Lmao
Great video son. I'd watch this over the click bait junk video anyday
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
very impressive. Thank you for posting.
Thanks!
any progress on the press?
Unfortunately not, life has been getting in the way... 🙁
Try some Mr sheen Stavros
Observing the action of the rollers in the last seconds of the video prompts me to suggest that your side rails are too high. The rollers should glide onto the ink wheel, not drop down onto the wheel. Looking sideways, the top of rails should be in line with the wheel, for a gentle landing
they are great If you make them again, please share the measurements :)
I like your design and build for the most part. My question is did you use glue only for the joints or did you go back and add brads or small screws to strengthen the joints?
I ended up using only glue. It's held together so far at least!
Well done lad. More youngsters should be building stuff with their own hands rather than playing games on their television.
Try a pin nailer
Hi! I did give that a shot at one point, but the pins ended up still being too large!
