the gt 710 is a menace to the GPU society. Except the 710 can be a emergency display adapter (the r7 240 too but better). 240 is available for only 12 to 13 dollars and the gt 710 is for around 25 (?) to 40 in my country...
I need Windows 10 Lowest Version for gaming for playing these new released but low demanding requirements games like Red dead redemption 1 & metal gear solid volume 1: Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E7600 @ 3.06GHz 3.07 GHz R.A.M: 4.00 GB RAM GRAPHIC CARD: NVIDIA GeForce GT 710
VMware has better performance than virtual box
At 06:13 I don't get why you concluded that, as all your tests showed the 1.8 Core 2 Duo being a bit better than the 3.4 Pentium D.
@EmeraldOtringal Maybe it was a poor choice of words on my part. I guess what I was trying to say was that even to do what it was able to do and come close to the duo, it had to run at nearly twice the speed. BTW I do have an updated version of this video with graphs on my channel.
@@jims_junk Thanks a lot, I will search for it! Now I am watching the Pentium D vs Pentium 4 HT. It's so funny to stumble across your videos since I was tempted to get the Pentium D 945 or the Pentium 4 630 precisely due to their higher clocks, when I already have a Core2Duo E8200 and I'm close to getting an E2180 also.
Frame times are better on the 710 because it has dedicated ram, compared to shared DDR4 ram from the CPU
Good video, straight to the point. Thanks.
Depending on the BIOS, you can overclock the iGPU as well 🤔 sometimes even with voltage adjustments Also interesting would be how the iGPU would perform on DDR3 vs DDR4, as the 6th generation supports both.
Thanks. The results were about what I expected. The HD 530 trading blows with the GT 710 GDDR5. I got a UHD 630 with my i5 8500T and its fine for me since I don't do much graphically intensive stuff and the hardware encode/decode with QuickSync is quite nice considering older Intel HD Graphics (like pre HD 530 ones) have QuickSync problems or flat out is not detected. Weirdly I've been on a search for kinda modern iGPU performance but on a dedicated PCIE GPU form so its power efficient compared to my RX 5600XT when I don't need the GPU horsepower. Only the RX 550 is a somewhat reasonable purchase price-wise since the GT 1030 is like 2~2.5x of a RX 550.
When I worked a repair shop, our top of the line was 700 or 900 series. They always had a GT 740 4G available and we used it occasionally. Seemed like a decent light gamer card, nowadays crippled by no Vulkan, but was a decent card in its own right. Could you find one of those and test it?
I'll add it to the list!
well you could find that temperature sensor from powersupply and extend it to the CPU heatsink to get that psu fan control
GDDR5 indeed helps GT 710 a lot, back then it's almost only half as fast as HD 530
In fact, 7850 is NOT actually athlon 64 cpu, it's something in middle between athlon 64 and athlon 2. Real athlon 64 it's like Athlon 64 x2 3800+, 4400+ and so on. 7850 even was named as Athlon X2 7850, without x64. It's with l3 cache, what was only in Phenoms before(and many time after).
What was used in virtualbox? Emulation or kvm?
I think some of it also came down to driver optimization. Like for instance, I saw the HD 530 perform better in DX11 but struggle in DX9 in comparison. Reminds me a lot of Arc gpus today and how weird their drivers were, especially with them having to emulate DX9 support
I would definitely use the HD 530 more, for one thing, I wouldn't need to occupy that GPU slot with as something as weak as GT 710, and for another - Codecs, I would rather to convert/render videos faster.
Amazing iGPU. GTA settings?
i noticed that some drivers migh limit fps to 30 for intel
Hmmm very possible. I'll hafta look into that when I get a chance.
I enjoyed the video, thanks.
Good video. Just for fun, I tried Batman Arkham Asylum on a gt 710 1gb ddr3 that has 8x's electrical (A tiny fanless card that is great for troubleshooting) and on the Intel 770 graphics (13700k cpu). I overclocked both, I got 2000mhz stable on the Intel graphics and didn't get far on the gt 710, +40 on the core and +110 on the memory. The Intel 770 graphics was a LOT faster, it held a locked 60fps with the highest settings at 1440p. The gt 710 was limited to 1080p with medium settings and averaged around 45fps if my memory serves me correctly. I was surprised at the Intel 770 graphics.
Completely different ballpark. Intel igpus have improved dramatically since 8th gen in particular.
The thing is that while the GT710 is more or less useless nowadays, the HD530 still has 'certain' use cases, namely H.265 QuickSync encoding (QSV). While recording/streaming with OBS, you can just offload the encoding to the iGPU. Of course, modern GPUs have great encoders, and by "modern" I mean Pascal/Polaris or newer, so you're only going to notice a ~2-3% performance difference. But on older cards, it can be pretty significant.
One thing I noticed is the 710's are not listed as having nvenc, but they actually do...hence you see in the video using nvenc to encode that video. I've used one in the past for an obs streamer pc. So I totally get where you're coming from and you're right, but you can also use the 710 as the encoder as well.
@@jims_junk The actual GK208 die that the GT710 uses doesn't have an Nvenc chip. Odds are the software allows it to be chosen as an option, but falls back to software x264 encoding or uses the shading units for encoding.
Intel really improved a lot with 530, i remember original gt 710 ddr3 beating hd 4000 and ones that came before it easily. I put one in a cheap dell with 3470 and it worked like a charm, later down the road, I got a 1030 gddr5 and the i5 was bottlenecking it so I got a 3770.
woa these results were very interesting! i was expecting the 710 to lose in every game
Upgrading/ sidegrading to an iGPU of the same era is NOT something I ever thought was possible
Actually the HD 530 has 192 shaders, like the 710. 24 is the number of execution units, which have 8 shaders each, even on newer Intel graphics.
Oh crap you're right! Thanks for the info.
First!
Beide sind nichts 😂hatte beide raspbery pi4 4gb war absolute mist jede sd karte geht kaputt bei den images der atomic pi kann nix außer gutes hd bild eignet sich nur als mediacenter dafür war es zu teuer 😂
Most Q6600 can be overclocked to 3.6 but phenom does not🎉
You should of used a 3rd gen CPU with the HD 4000 graphics.
I noticed on few games had higher CPU use on NVidia's card, wonder what causes that? Technically drivers are to interact with DirectX API calls translating to the specific language of hardware or in case of OpenGL drivers are literally the OpenGL API written by NVidia for their hardware. Either way drivers could delegate some job to GPU could also "emulate" some on CPU, can schedule some task, rearrange etc. I suppose the only way to verify would be to use worse CPU and check whenever both cards are bottlenecked equally?
Isn’t 210 1gb?
let's try to overclock brisbane to 3 - 3.2 GHz
Then just overclock the i5 if you can overclock the FX too?
I have a quick question. Why is it that when my gpu is under load (specifically at 100% or 99%), my monitor's display would start to have waves of statics going down to up? When it's not under load, these don't show. What could be the possible problem here?
The purpose of Haswell was a new cache pipeline, coupled with support for AVX2, FMA3 and BMI. And in games and software that actually use those instructions properly, the gap is indeed noticeable. Even in basic AVX workloads, Haswell is still always faster. Some game releases over the last couple of years require those instructions sets, making Haswell an absolute bare minimum for gaming. Ivy is dead now, basically.
CPU-Z shows your i5-3570 running at 2.65V! I'm pretty sure that's a sensor glitch lol
watching this video on my i7 3770 with r5 200 series, i love my i7 3770 lol

crazy how little clock speed matters here
This is a GREAT comparison video. Kudos.
Good stuff
Thank you for the video

I still have one of these. It barely runs windows XP. The GX150.
gx150...wow was that a pentium 3 model?
@@jims_junk Yes. It was the only one of it's form factor that I kept. I had a bunch of towers but I think they were newer optiplex models that I pulled from a dumpster when I was a teen. I had like 10 working systems that I made into a beowulf cluster with centos 6. I took those, the GX150 and a GX1 out of the trash of my school when they were replacing systems about 14 years ago right before I graduated. I still have the GX1 and GX150.
@@jims_junk I tried commenting but I don't know if youtube is being odd but yes. Pentium 3 model. I got 1 of those, a GX1, and several newer Optiplex models from the dumpster about 14 years ago before I graduated highschool. I only have the GX1 and GX150 now. I sold off the other towers long ago but when I had them I created a beowulf cluster on CentOS 6. Dad got pissed at me over the power bill and heat.. The GX150 took up less space so I haven't done anything with it. I just booted it for the first time in over a decade last night. Stil had XP that was the school and still used their old Tech and Admin passwords that my school used. I was going to install Win 98SE on it or something. Almost forgot I got a Zenith Data Systems laptop from the haul too at that time that I still have and works but no HDD.
I also have all the 3 "original" low end geforce cards, 210, 710 (DDR3) and 1030 (GDDR5). I didn't know you also have all of them 4:29 haha. Unfortunately I killed my 710 after running +380/+320 on Core/Memory with 1.162v core voltage for 2 years. 210 is also dead after I flashed a wrong bios on it, but I have all the cards. Only 1030 is alive, I am still using it with a Ryzen 7600 because GPU prices are bad in area ;(
I remember it being a rebranded tesla card from 2007-8, it was supposed to go up against Intel's GMA (predecessor to HD graphics), but due to it being rebranded and launched later, when many people started to buy i3s and pentiums with hd graphics, they started to compare them and that's where the jokes started. Well, I've had this card with E5800 and it was way better then the GMA so I had fun with especially playing pre 2010 games.
Man, I remember back in 2015 "upgrading" my old Core 2 Duo with the original ddr3 version, it was a night and day difference. Nowadays I only find videos about how trash it is but I genuinely enjoyed my time with it.
VMware was so difficult to download.
Thanks! It worked. Also drilled ventilation holes in the empty casing. Also have small fans blowing on them during use.
I have issues with these virtual machines, even windows sandbox crashing after some time.
I think you got some problems with your setup. I've had both vmware and virtualbox on poor hardware, working it 100% and all are super stable.
btw since comments can be read in different ways, I didn't mean that to be negative or mean...was just saying kindly that I'm thinkin its a problem with your setup.
i honestly don't think so, benchmarks say the athlons are faster but i've used both and i would much rather use a Pentium D, the athlons just didn't have enough cache or transistors and feels incredibly sluggish compared to the D even if it technically performs better in CPU intensive tasks
you are definitely right, it does depend on what you're doing. I personally found in some cases the 4's and D's felt snappier at first but then took far longer to do the same task. For instance my office PC had a D at one client. I would have tons of things open at any time including a security monitor screen with streaming video, tons of domain and group policy panels, a couple web browser windows, email and whatever else I was working on....usually a million things at once. The pc had plenty of ram, but it did not like doing all that at once. Eventually reimaged and gave that pc to a teacher everyone disliked and set myself up a pc with an Athlon x2. The Athlon just plowed through, it was night and day. Right off the bat it felt slower to use, but after being loaded up with tasks, it didn't seem to care..it just rocked. But again people have different uses and also different experiences and that's why I'm glad we have options.
