Man, The Killer. Hope you guys have seen it. It's Fincher compressed but still focused as hell. That kind of a story. Could have been a stupid, run-of-the-mill action film, just like a dance can be someone wiggling. With Fincher it's like the highest form of disciplined, controlled, exuberant, classical dance. One of the best fight scenes I've ever seen. So action, yes, no apologies from Fincher, but have him make a thriller like Seven and we've all seen the results.

After 90 days of writing, I have to say I am grateful for this, and many platforms like this, because absorbing the wisdom, advice, fundamentals, principles, tips, and tricks helped me discover my ideal writing time: 5 am till 11 am, which, in my opinion, is step one to getting started. During those hours, I wrote a 121-page feature film in 31 days, then, for safe measure, I broke it down into two 1-hour episodes for television (which took me 15 days each). What am I trying to say? Well, thank you, and PTA is right: writing is a blast and not all that hard; sit down, be bold, and let it out. Sure, your manuscript might need major surgery, but the feeling of accomplishment you get from completing the work is unlike anything I have experienced before in my life (and that says a lot cause I'm 50).

I'm a fan of his but his films are hit and miss in equal measure? I think he's a stupendous technician; his films look and sound better than anyone's with the exception of Wes Anderson's (both directors very different). If it's true that David says he never listened to anyone it underlines narcissism; me, me, me. I like to learn from other great and greater talents; as actor Charles Bronson once said of Robert Aldrich, 'no man can know everything'. I think David still has elements of a reactionary youthful film maker which seems to be reducing and we should soon see a more mature mind leading to greater stand out films? He needs to watch that he doesn't become another Ridley Scott as David's films increasingly look identical! Always thanks to him for giving me/us films that we always enjoy returning to.

I love PTA, he's great and he definitely has a point in this interview. But also don't forget, his father worked in the TV industry and he has a strong connection to show business from his family. He knew how to deal with professionals and very familiar with how the industry works. And he had a lot of buddies that could help. All of these could be very hard to find, if you don't have a family connection to the industry. Yes, you don't have to go to film schools to LEARN how to make films, but knowledge aren't the only thing the school provides. It also provide you a chance to know other fellow filmmakers of different departments, a place to practice with lower cost, and so much more. I don't think you have to go to film school to make film, but I also don't think you have to refuse it to maintain independence.

The AI can help 100% with matte paintings and environment design, also character design and somewhat 3D CGI characters or props, even with motion capture there are some pretty cool AI released or in beta testing. As a low budget art designer and film maker, the fields that I'm more excited about are better voice generator AIs (I like to see some AI that can change a voice to another so we can get all the emotions and feelings of a voice actor) some facial expression mocap for cheap (that are working good) and also a better video to video AI generators that helps us to generate fictional cartoon characters with input of our actors videos. At this rate I can see more than what I can imagine will come in 2023 and what comes next years will change the way of film making and arts for ever :)

Spielberg is an anomaly of his time - he definitely had innate talent, but his moment in history permitted him to stand out and be noticed, and be utilized. He emerged at a pivotal moment in American film evolution. The industry was more tolerant and accepting of independent and novel filmmakers, and the national culture was changing as well. Being a novice filmmaker at that time was difficult and rare, which meant less competition for being noticed. Today with the enormous accessibility of technology and audiences, it is far more difficult to be noticed and appreciated amidst the glut of independently created films, both features and short subjects.
