Hello! I'm a musician, engineer, and airplane pilot. After graduating from Duke, I'm now a PhD student at NC State! Here you'll find vlogs of general shenanigans in my life as well as more structured videos. I like to think that my life is interesting, you can be the judge of that!
Vlog 21 - Getting My Master's & Kicking Off Summer!
I noticed that my videos are getting a bit too long and technical, so here's a shorter one! Got my master's woohooooo and decided to give you a taste of how boring it was to sit through 3 commencement ceremonies 😂
Then kicked off summer with a little overnight trip to Asheboro and Charlotte for some food and flying!

Vlog 19 - Kickstarting my 2024!
มุมมอง 69ปีที่แล้ว
Happy New Year! They say you should start off the year strong. So what better way to start it off than doing my favorite things: flying, engineering, and music! As always, I try to always make my videos at least somewhat educational, so hopefully everybody can get something out of it. I'm probably gonna make a standalone video about this but TLDR: don't point your laser pointers at airplanes! I...
Bored on Christmas Eve so I decided to become Santa
มุมมอง 83ปีที่แล้ว
Christmas Eve boredom shenanigans have become a yearly tradition at this point. This year, I wanted to fly around on Christmas Eve and pretend to be Santa (or Rudolph?). However, since I can't actually drop any presents (FAA will be mad), I decided "deliver" the present by drawing it in the sky instead. Maybe it'll bring some magic to kids looking up at the sky searching for Santa! The shape I ...
First Time Flying Piper Warrior (PA-28-161) & Landing On A Tiny Runway!
มุมมอง 188ปีที่แล้ว
And for my next trick... I put my short field landing to the test (2538ft runway) in a plane I've never flown before! I finally joined the Piper squad after only having flown Cessnas. This is my type transition checkout for the Warriors at my flying club. I really enjoy flying this plane, it has a smooth and stable characteristic but is also very forgiving on landings. You might see me in this ...
Vlog 18 - Night VFR Flight to RDU

Schubert - Des Fischers Liebesglück [Lute & Piano Duet Version]
มุมมอง 2782 ปีที่แล้ว
First video in a while! I discovered this Schubert song at - believe it or not - a Baroque music program at Oberlin Conservatory. So I thought I should make a little duet out of it and use the lute sound to add a Baroque twist to it.

Bach - Contrapunctus IX For Two Pianos (but I play it by myself)
มุมมอง 7553 ปีที่แล้ว
You've been asking for a piano video, so here's a piano video! I've always wanted to play this 2 piano piece ever since I saw the performance by Anderson & Roe Piano Duo, but it was difficult to find someone who would play it with me. So I went ahead and played it by myself. Note that the right side video is mirrored so it looks like the high notes are on the left side of the piano, which obvio...

You don't say? The same happened to me.
you're breaking the most important rule every sight reading tip video says. don't look down lmao
Disclaimer i can't sight read AT ALL, im just saying I watch tips video's and they all say this is the most important rule
B rank on all of them for sure
you should comment "gg ez 1 att" on the piano sheet websites
This gee paaa figga say we be kiddies or what? Atear oo😂
TWOSETTERS ASSEMBLEEEE
Wish I could play that well 😢 I play by ear, and play for enjoyment mostly. I like playing piano but it takes practice, if I were as good as that guy I'd practice 4 hours a day and become a pianist.
OMG I LISTEN TO LA CAMPANELLA A LOT AND WHEN I HEARD THE FIRST FEW NOTES IM LIKE YESSSSS
On Erlkönig, I’m genuinely happy impressed
Not me thinking the piano is a bit out of tune
😅
Cause it looks like something U have practiced cause I can see Ur eyes movement 😅
Are U sure U are sight playing these pieces 😮
Sight reading🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
come on guys! His piano is clearly out of tune! Have you not taken that into consideration?
lol i'm ur 1000th sub
You did wayyyy better than I ever could. How on earth can you sight read that well?
To be fair, you were playing on a Boston. Terrible action. Even yuja wang couldn’t get those repeated notes on that thing.
bro where r the subs at. the videos r acc good
Not very useful...
Loved how you kept a straight face and kept going 😂 Your humour is something, hope you get more subs!
I couldn't play a transcribed version on my flute without a month of practice😭
HELP!!!!! Im having problems with my tilt axis on mine. I can get it leave but when I flip it backwards and it’s supposed to stay in that position it doesn’t. Same thing when I flip it forward. Any ideas? I’ve tried using my g7xii and my older b500 and also my iPhone 15. And it does the same thing. HELP
Keep these Videos up man!
Listening to the piece beforehand is not technically sight reading. Knowing how it should sound definitely helps when reading the notes on the paper. Also getting clues on how to position your hands in the second one
Wow !! Really man, just tell us that you already have played these pieces 100 times before the video :) But that's still impressive.
Thank you for making this awesome video
Lovedd this vid!!! Although you messed up here and there your playing was beautiful and this was v entertaining
You can be very famous 🎉
RIP left hand 😂😂 I wish I had this saying when I was back in Jr High to tell my piano teacher. 😂
for the hardest piano pieces, I see a notable absence of Gaspard de la nuit
no joke, the right hand of the start of La Campanella was one of the first things I learned on the piano, it actually sounded alright.
Chopin should have placed a trollface after the first four bars of his Op.25 n.11... Apart from that, I don't think it's that terrible if slowly red and then brought to speed. For sure, trying sight-reading it at an acceptable speed is a struggle lost from the start.
The bubble tea in the end was perfect
Your sight reading is truly fantastic. It is quite incredible how little panic comes through as you blast through sections. But, and amusingly, I've been trying to learn Hungarian Rhapsody (which I believe is probably the easiest to learn of all of these?) and the sheer speed it gets to is just unfathomable, and I'm glad such a great pianist is also struggling with it, even if it is on a first sight read. Seriously though, how can anyone play that fast and not get a heavy build up of lactic acid almost immediately
Need a full soundtrack 😅
Can you try and sightread some of the actual hard pieces for piano instead of whatever the first video was.
they were hard as hell stop ragebaiting
@@zbuilder4664 yeah but he states they are the hardest which they are definetly not and he is just clickbaiting for views
@richlistcool6631 they're the hardest known ones, obviously there could be some barely known song that is technically harder, but using popular, loved ones makes the video itself more entertaining
@@zbuilder4664 if you are going to advertise the hardest then play some of the hardest not famous show pieces that are not even close to being the hardest
@@richlistcool6631 but they are close to being some of the hardest, so ur point literally is useless
Honestly this vlog was so well paced, I was shocked when I saw the view and like count, this is so high quality! Also congrats to your master<3
Lets Go Yi
Cool 🤘🏿
Hola en el adorno 1022de la primera parte que tocas la rapsodia hungara numero 2 lo unes completo con una nota de el pentagrama de abajo no se bien como unir el adorno ? O va unido con mas notas de abajo?
sorry but I have to say that, you are stupid
Interesting! Playing very well😅
how did you get good at sightreading?
Bold of you to assume I'm any good at sight reading 😂 But in seriousness I think what helped me improve a lot recently is collaborative playing! Especially musical theater (think accompanist or rehearsal pianist) it really forces you to be on your feet and adaptable to what the singers need you to do. Most of the time you're also playing both the piano part and at least some of the vocal lines or orchestral reductions so you're reading more than just 2 staves at a time, and you have to choose what to play or leave out. I think it's a much more active type of playing than solo piano repertoire and really good sight reading practice.
it's very cool to see the planning etc, nice mini project!
Thanks! I try to make these videos at least somewhat educational, and also so that ppl can point out flaws in my planning if they see any!
Still waiting for hardest pieces…
AHAHAHA - OKEYYYYYYYY
Man you should Upload more often youre a Genius
that was so nice tho
So much fun to watch you sight read. That’s amazing 😅
