    Hi Allan. A friend has asked me to convert 55 mini tapes to DVD. Firstly, after Capture I then go to Create Disc and initially, response received from the Power Director was that "Burning" (not responding). Tried again several times but same response. Now when I get to the step before (i.e. hit the Create disc tab at the top), that screen freezes and I cannot hit the 2 Disc button at the bottom right to take me to the Power Director. I've recently transferred mini SD cards of a trip to DVD using the same laptop without a problem, so I don't think the Burn Disc function of my laptop is the problem. Question, do you think the whole Kworld DVD Maker has had it and I should update it? Also, when I hit the Create Disc tab at the top, the blue light on the DVD maker goes out. Is that normal as I don't remember from 3 years ago when I first used the equipment. Regards, Denis

    Well I would like to tell a short story of a Jaycar store i visited ,I had been wanting a drone for months so this was the day i went in and found one then took it to the counter it was only a few days before this i spent $500 on some other items in this store. Guy comes over big smiles and while serving me he was interacting with there tech guy which I didnt mind now after he scooped up another $500 and had it safely in the register i wanted to ask him some questions one of them was what do i do if i need parts for it down the track? He was all like "parts no worries i will have them here in 4 days". Ok i have taken a little of his time up but i had just made a $500 purchase and i had more questions. As i started to speak he keeps looking over my shoulder this was real strange so i look around and there,s a young couple that are looking around then looking at him, now this couple must of been there a whole 4minutes ,,,back to sales dick of the year he says "aw look buddy my good friend (lets say Vicki) is going to look after ya from here .ok mate thanks,have fun". this has 3 parts to it so i wont bore ya straight up,will be back the end has a real twist.

    We had a world beating telco back in the day. You could go to any town in Australia and a public phone was there to use. All profits were ploughed back into the system. It was a semi-autonomous government entity, much like the ABC, so owned by the people. Howard told us that it was going public, so the public could own it if you had the cash. Shareholders get the profits, and the system doesn't. 😢

However, I am having problems with my back tension arm. When the tape gets near the end, the arm seems to slip, causing the picture to slip and lose audio. Any idea on where one might be able to adjust or if there's anything I might be able to try in order to fix it? I was thinking maybe replacing the spring (if i can find a match) might work. I recorded roughly 100 of my old VHS tapes to DVD about 10 years ago. My solution was to record them to my DVD recorder with built in 250 GB hard drive, using a SCART connection between my video recorder and my DVD recorder using SP mode. The DVD recordings looked about the same as the original videotape recordings.

    • @vidcam

      That is a easy method too. But keep in mind if the Recorder fails, you may not be able to watch them as the HDD will not be readable, I would try to get them on to USB, if your Recorder has HDMI output, get a HDMI to USB card and connect it to a PC and record them using something like OBS Studio, just in case.

    In the Netherlands most families have thrown out their dvd players. You can buy these low end dvd recorders for less than 25 euros at the thrift stores. I agree, in fact the VHS to DVD units are great for a simple and easy way to convert tapes. But these days USB is a better method, I use a YITROX AV Svideo HDMI to HDMI Converter Upscaler to a Razer Ripsaw X USB Capture Card giving upto 4K. Does a nice job , but still relies on what the quality of the original Tape is. Generally Ill only go upscale to 1080 as the file size just gets so big, and some TVs are unable to read files over 3G. Most likely LG, the same assembly is used in almost all LG DVD-combos as well as even some pure VHS players. But it is also used in devices sold under other brands. You can even see the erase-head (green plastic thing to the far left), this is present on all units despite being used on some devices that does not support recording to VHS tapes. The connector to that head is just hanging, literally not hooked up to anything on the main board :) There are tiny variations though, some have an auto-head-cleaner (basically just an additional plastic part), and for some reason some have different sizes on some of the gear. I'm also not sure if the same drum is used for PAL and NTSC devices or if they are different.

    Thank you mate. Great video and all worked well for me. Just one query if you can help. I seem to only be able to record 30minutes at a time, even with the time limit set to no limit.. Anyone else get this? Any ideas on how to go full length? I've got plenty of HDD space 5 days worth of recording.

    I am having issues with picking up the video. I can get the audio and it recognises the USB device, but I cannot get the video capture. Would you suggest connection to S-Video? I do not have an S-video in/out on my vhs but I could get an adaptor that connects yellow video composite to the svideo. Do you reckon this could be an option?

      You could try , but I do not think it will make any difference. Have you connected your VCR upto a Monitor ? Just see if it is putting out a Video signal? Maybe the VCR is at fault? As you say you have got Audio , so the driver should be ok.

    Hey, i got the same Player and it’s saying ERROR when i use vcr. I cant insert the VCR in, similar to when u tried to insert it in. NEED HELP!!!

      @janjohansson2567 ปีที่แล้ว

      "ERROR" has been displayed to me when the machine gets confused about what state it is in, i.e. mode selector switch is probably bad or dirty, or the VHS mechanism is not aligned properly with the switch (note that all the gears and everything in the VHS mechanism has to be aligned properly, the mode selector also has to be in a very specific position when you put it all together. The proper alignments are documented in the service manual.

    Thanks, but the top link to "Download the software and drivers... " still does NOT work. The Windows 10 link does.

    Great video. I wonder how the vcr detects the k7 when you insert it. Is it mechanical or electronic sensor. And besides, I have an issue with the crank motor upper right corner : when vcr is turned on it goes turning and bumps skipping dents. Loud noise, and obviously the k7 does not load

    • @vidcam
      @vidcam 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The cradle that holds the VHS tape, as you start to push it in , it blocks the infrared LED b/t the Tape end sensors on each side of the eject assembly, thus starting the load motor. If that noise is from the DVD unit on the left it could need a new belt. If it is the Loading motor under the tape mechanism, then your VCR mech is out of alignment.

    • @bobby38bcn11
      @bobby38bcn11 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thx Allan 🤗 The infrared LED is holding in the center blue plastic, right ? The noise is from the loading motor, upper right under vcr tape. Its endless gear gets blocked because the white cranks are blocked, so the motor tries to force it and skips few crank teeth before stopping I will try to clean the black sensor you showed, but I'm concerned there is other issue(s)

    • @bobby38bcn11
      @bobby38bcn11 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe I'm lucky and the sensor is ok, but when the loading motor fails to initialized (can you elaborate on alignment comment?) then the firmware decides to disable any further loading. If I can solve the init phase, when the loading motor gear get stuck maybe the sensor will activate load...

      The purpose of the motor on the right is to change mode (which includes accepting/ejecting the cassette). If that motor moves but nothing else moves, there must either be a mechanical error (maybe broken gears, or something is out of alignment), OR, something is wrong with the mode selector switch causing the motor to try to change mode beyond the first or last mode. I would check all the gears carefully, make sure the cogs are all there. Make sure everything is lined up (check with service manual for the correct "default" alignment). Clean or check the mode selector switch.
