Thanx friend
Wow, that was a very wise insight at the end that ego sometimes likes to be hurt to validate itself 🤯 (I know by ME writing this reply to your video, I am validating my inner ego, oh well 😅)
Indeed television is a form of avoidance
Thank you.
FIRST!
Loved this meditation ❤ thanks
@@claudvlogs thank you! That means a lot to me
Love it. Ty🙏❤️
You are so welcome
That was a really interesting video.. Thank you for helping me understand more about a concept i am newly familiar with.
Glad it was helpful!
Great meditation. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
a timely reminder.
I've owned this book for a while but not read it. Your summary is helpful; I'm more enthusiastic to do so now. Also your channel name has me intrigued I'll check it out 🙂.
Gracias!
THIS DIDNT MAKE ME ANY STRONGER
Loved this. Opened my mind
Thank you for the kind words!
Thank you! You should post your meditations on Insight Timer.
Thank you for the feedback! I'll give that some thought.
Thank you for this I'm so appreciative that you made this
So in other words, they way I look at the events and situations, in which i am involved and of which I have no control, is what determins if those events are a source of suffering or not. It is my perception and judgment of the events that makes them a source of suffering not the event itself.
Awesome meditation! Would be great if it was longer ❤
Gratitude 🙏 ❤
Wait 10 minutes…I just might try that.
Got to your channel via Gemini suggestion sources. Good quality video, glad of this recommendation.
Thanks for sharing all this. I relate to so much of what you say here. I've had a history of public speaking fears and find myself making excuses at times to avoid doing it as well. The TED or TED-X opportunity is huge, and I would like to present there one day. (But honestly, I probably would have let that opportunity slip by too if I didn't feel 'ready'.) To me, Spirituality can be a difficult topic to discuss, because it means something different or it may have different associations for everyone. The ideas of what spirituality is can range from practical and sensible all the way to otherworldly or mystical. For some, it's a religious idea, for others it's not. Some people like the word. Some don't... My most recent book covered some spiritual ideas, and I've had some people show no interest in reading it just because they don't like spirituality, when I suspect my 'version' of spirituality is nothing like what they're even thinking... oh well. Btw, I also appreciate you sharing your personal wins and misses - that's very helpful and I look forward to catching more episodes. You have a lot of wisdom to share.
Thank you, Brechen. I'm glad you mention that we shouldn't get into mindfulness just for the benefits (even though there are many) because the one who is after benefits the most, is likely to be disappointed that a few mindfulness sessions didn't do much for them, and quit. But quitting mindfulness doesn't help anyone. And you're right, much of the benefit isn't even for the self, it's for all of us. I prefer being around mindful people, if I have the choice. It is a practice we have to stick with for the long haul, being present more often, being more aware, not dwelling on the past or fantasizing about the future too much. It's living this life whole-heartedly. Mindfulness also helps us find peace and clarity - and from there, hopefully contentment or happiness.
I am grateful for this meditation.
I'm happy you enjoyed it 🙏
I have had the Tao by Lao Tzu for years but really didn't get the next step was the writings of Chuang Tzu. Amazing.
I also think some form of balance is important, and often we can take something useful from different philosophies and bridge them together. There's not just "one way" - there can be many ways that don't have to be in conflict. I appreciate the way you explain the similarities/differences between Buddhism/Stoicism - as that makes a lot of sense to me.
Absolutely. I think one can take from various philosophies and wisdom traditions to shape their own personal philosophy.
What a beautiful combination - mindfulness and stoicism. The world needs more people like you and more TH-cam channels like these.💐
Thank you! Comments like these keep me going.
Thank you for sharing your summary/review - I like the idea of the inner score card. Not everything in life is easily measured and quantifiable though, so we may need to judge for ourselves how well we are on the path to living up to our values. It sounds to me like the actual message is that an overinflated ego is the enemy, but I guess the final book title was shorter and catchier.
Thank you for this thoughtful comment. It's true that not everything can (or should) be measured. Sometimes, at the end of the day, if I can look at my family and they seem healthy and happy, then I consider that an amazing day (regardless of all the other things that may have happened).
Thank you

Thank you. This was incredibly helpful and engaging. Keep it up, you are making a difference
I would probably cringe if I were to watch this again! But, thank you, really. Comments like these mean a lot to me.
Thanks for the 27 Takeaways - I've read other books by Ryan Holiday, but haven't gotten to this one yet. These are certainly all great principles worth reflecting on and living by. Something I've also learned is that if you truly understand how your disciplined path is helping you to get where you want to be, then you can have more fun in the process of being disciplined. So discipline doesn't always have to be us "forcing" ourselves into something. Part of my journey has been learning to enjoy and have fun with the "disciplined path."
I believe I read parts of the book years ago, but I appreciate your concise bullet summaries. I like the practice of being able to go without things that appear to be needs, but really are not. Some people find it unbearable to deal with a minor inconvenience even for a short period. That means if something major or disruptive happens, they'll hardly be able to deal with it. So it seems life is a practice for being ready for bigger challenges to come our way. Thank you.
I know in my heart that I’ve been practicing stoicism unaware. But I came to read about it today on utube. Accidentally.
Excellent ❤
Thank you very, very much. This helped a lot.
