Very informative video. I have a cedar log home and want to fill checks but I'm concerned about color matching to the existing stain as I don't intend to stain or paint after just fill checks... that's it. When these caulk products dry and I've found a caulk that is as close to the stain I have does the stain dry darker in color or the same as when it's wet. What brands of backer rod do you recommend? Thank you. Gilda

Here is my pro tip on starting a carpenters apprenticeship. DONT! It is a horrible industry taken over by methheads and or illegals driving the wages down to chicken feed. You will end up not being paid over half the time and the pay is horrible to begin with. Good luck getting away from the dopeheads as well as it is next to impossible. The things to look forward to are being overworked for peanuts with a bunch of methheads that dont know what they are doing and blame you for all thier shortcomings when the boss shows up in a 150k truck while you cant afford groceries. Even starting your own construction business is horrible, avoid at all costs. You are better off with almost any other blue collar apprenticeship. Electrician, Plumber, Networking, anything but carpentry. Steer clear

Yes..Some (American) YT’ers call all circular saws ‘Skill Saws’ and all reciprocating saws ‘Sawzall’ …it shouldn’t get under the skin, but it does because the poor ol’ manufacturer just can’t get out of the competitor’s shadow..it is kinda unfair. Also of course it is just plain lazy…How hard is it just to say the right words instead of the wrong ones, for goodness sake. It is here in UK too…lots of us call vacuum cleaners a ‘Hoover’ and do ‘hoovering’ just because the early vacuums were indeed Hoover. How do you think Dyson and other brands think of that?

    • @TheSawDustDude

Thanks for the video and all the persons who have commented. I add my experience in case it will help someone, even though I could be fooling myself about the final point and not adding anything useful. I have a brand new stand and after bolting down the miter saw it would not raise. So I removed the saw to make it easier to manage. I believe I tried to open it while the stand was still sitting unladen on the floor but it would not raise. Then I stood the stand up on its wheels and then when pressing the latch the stand expanded. Once up it would not go back down. But now I had room to remove the black plastic cover and access to the adjustment nuts on the latching end of the cable. The cable appeared to have a touch too much slack so I tightened it up a little. But the stand would still not lower back down. The cable release mechanism appeared to be working correctly and I could take a screw driver and flip out the locking wings to see they were not catching, but it would not lower. I began to wonder was there a problem with something inside the slider tube. There was about an inch of travel when releasing the latch and after rereading comments especially the one from @raylowe1092 I could see that the movement was stopped by the pneumatic strut (gas lift) where it bolted into that short slot in the frame. It was as if this gas lift was stuck. Before unbolting the gas lift to troubleshoot my situation further I gave the body of it a couple of twists back and forth. Then everything started to work and the stand would lower and raise as it should. In short if having trouble lowering a brand new stand, try twisting the gas shock back and forth. In my case I was working on a bare stand so without 50 pounds of preloading. I was pressing down on it with some of my body weight but there is a chance I was being too gentle. But it suddenly started working after giving the pneumatic strut a good twist.

I'm on my second stand and I just told myself straight to the trash and just purchased a rigid stand , I'm so sick of DeWalt and their shitty tools , true story .......when I first started my business I bought and used Ryobi (light green models) and as time went on I decided better tools would be best , so I bought DeWalt .......every DeWalt tool has broken and I still have all my Ryobi tools ........that says a lot. Probably due to me getting them from Home Depot and we all know DeWalt made their tools cheaper to sell at these types of stores.......obviously I'm not a satisfied customer ........on a good note found your channel so all is not lost , thanks for the content....
