Always Augusta
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 7 พ.ค. 2011
Hi! My name is Augusta. I used travel around in my Kia Soul House I call the Soularium. The pandemic forced me to put down roots, which has lead to some new dreams. I am currently trying to work on some version of homesteading. Thanks for watching! Check out my instagram page @AlwaysAugusta and my Facebook Page alwaysaugusta
Homesteading- I made Apple Cider Vinegar with a Kombucha SCOBY!
Hey everyone! Like I said in the video, I don't know what I am doing, so I just try to make this farm life happen. I try. That is the biggest thing. Just trying is better than wishing for the best way. Mountain homesteading in North Carolina has some challenges, but I am ready to do it!
Here is the apple butter recipe from the homemade apple press. It is in 1/4 cup increments. Just kidding :)
Apple Butter:
2 lb Apple Pulp
3 cups water
1/4 apple cider
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground clove
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
I cooked the apples on the stove after mixing in the seasonings and water. Then I transferred the mixture to the slow cooker for 6 hours. I used an immersion blender to pulverize the mixture. Then, I put in jars to cool.

How to cook when you live in your car- Kia Soul Stealth Camping
มุมมอง 3.8K5 ปีที่แล้ว
This is how I have allowed for cooking in my 2012 Kia Soul. It is technically outside of the vehicle since propane in close quarters is not recommended. Living as a solo female traveler I try to make food that I can keep for several days. I try to only cook 2/3 times a week with this setup. I hope it helps inspire you to make your travel dreams possible! Get daily updates of my life on Instagra...

FRONT SEAT. How you disconnected the front seat from the connectors,. useless video. why you put a tittle so wrong
so, no the front seat. no good video/
Sorry I couldn't get you what you needed. Hopefully there is another video out there. I no longer own the car or I would try to show you :/
Could have done without the first couple of minutes of unloading the car.
Hey! Do you know the length in inches from the tailgate to the top of the glove compartment? Thanks.
Yep you can use the left side behind the driver to store your stuff in bins from floor to ceiling. You can even have storage under that floor. but you need to have egress to the spare tire and that's why you need the hinges so think about that when you build your storage on the left side rear because that needs to be removable as a unit through the rear hatch. The weight is gonna kill your mileage a bit though because you can add up to a half ton. I'd go with 3/8 ply for that floor and 1/4" for the sides of storage bin and maybe 1/4" for the bases as well. Think about water storage (a coupla gallon jugs would work best there) and maybe an ice cooler to store food. Think FL in winter and the mountains of maybe TN in summer. You need a gym membership for showers and wifi connect to your laptop. My bed would need a big incline at the head though because I cannot lie flat like this. That will give me extra storage under. Need window covers all the way as well. WeatherTech works there they have them for the Kia Soul. It would be a boring life but if you're on fixed income you could pretty much eat at MacD for $15/day, figure $50/mo for phone, $30mo for gym membership that would still give you about $500/mo for fuel and maintenance on $1k/mo income if you're fixed. Kia's in town will give you about 30 miles/gal but you need to go real easy on that 2.0 engine because that thing is your whole life, see? Think mileage/day. it adds up quickly!
Wanted so bad to hear your story but the music was so loud, I couldn’t hear you. Best wishes to you
Are you still on the road and I see you took the backseats out I have a friend that needs to take her backseats out of her Kia soul. And I see you took the front seat out to or did you I’m getting some ideas for my friend and I’m going to send her your video but I don’t think she knows how to take the seeds out she’s gonna have to have some help and I’m not there because I don’t I don’t know where she’s at. She’s just a Facebook friend.
I’m no longer on the road, but I would have been if the pandemic hadn’t of messed it up. I removed all seats but the driver.
inspiring and genuinely helpful. thank you for sharing!

Good timing. I've got around 18 to 20 Kombucha scoby's in my 'scoby motel' (AKA: 1/2 gal Ball jar) that's been sitting in my closet for a couple years. Smells like pure vinegar, so I'm going to cut up some apples and give it a try.
You didn't show us anything.
I disagree with heating up the pulp and apple juice. That will kill any living good bacteria needed to make the apple cider vinegar.
I think that by “sterilizing” it before adding the already established good bacteria makes less of a chance of outside harm. But you may be right.
Yayayaaa!!!
... and then what happened?
All my dreams got dashed for homesteading up there. 😔 I just moved to a new location. I maybe will update at some point. 😆 life happens.
Thank you! What year and model is your Kia Soul? I have a 2014 Kia Soul Plus and just wondered if it would be the same prices for it?
Mine is a 2012
Less work more lecture
I really appreciate ANYONE who is single and doing this homesteading! I bought my humble 1/2 acre in a very small farm town, and this single Grandma is trying to do it all on my own while working full time. It is really a challenge I am not going to lie. But in todays times we need to at least grow our own food. My focus is healing from the inside out. I have a very lengthy medical history. I was in medical school and my body fell apart. I try to incorporate parts of my story as I am learning how to homestead in a youtube channel I have started, but I am super new at it. th-cam.com/channels/t1mg9rj2NJAFKbKzNWHmsQ.html. I really appreciate your tips, and encouragement! Doing this on my own, I am not going to lie, Has been overwhelming at times. I have very little skills, and less muscles. But I am doing little by little :) My motto is truly, If I can do it ANYONE can! Let's keep encouraging each other! Thanks again!!!
The fact that you drive a stick is sooo kool. Just wanted to give you a tip, I you buy a new steering wheel you automatically have media controls. If its the 2012 you Automatically get cruise control. But it must be a steering wheel with those buttons
I love this idea, I may have to do the same with my Soul.
Thank you for sharing I have a KIAEX2019 while wathing your vedio. its cheaper for me remove Back seat . Im plan of going away for long trip
2016 soul here took all the seats out built platform got an icy breeze air conditioner sun joe for a shower Cook at the park. I am 53 sf. No mo rent Luvin life. Anyone can do this. Thanx for the inspirational videos u rock!!
Love!!!
Gorgeous 🥰
You have a wonderful personality.
Would love to see things are going on the homestead today.
Hello... Are you still homesteading solo???
No :( with the way things went with COVID lockdowns and such, I ended up having to move closer to a city for work. Who knows what the future holds though. :)
@@AlwaysAugusta hello sorry to hear that. Hope you give it a try again soon
The most important thing is that you did it. Congratulations.
On the front seat how did you disconnect air bag? How about the light? And how to turn the light off after the seats are back on
There is a yellow box that you unplug from the seat, however the air bag light will remain on. You just hook all the chords back up. It’s one piece that comes out from the connection box if I remember correctly.
Thank you so much! Did you get to turn the light off after reconnecting? I heard that it can cost hundreds to turn the light off 🤔 I wish I could just take out the back rest only But I’m out of time to take it apart if it can be done. Thanks again!
@@jheighten7568 the light went back off once I reconnected the seat just fine. I’ve added the seat back twice now with no issue.
Very well 🙏
It’s my life goal to have my own homestead in my home state of Massachusetts, I just need me some land!! And a house I suppose lol. Gonna check out all your vids!
Sorry to break up a clean 420 subscribers but had to be done!
Shame you didn’t actually show us how to remove the front seats. Pretty much a waste
.??????
Love ur kia camper videos. I'm starting my kia soul conversation currently and those back seats are a pain in the butt to unbolt lol thanks for sharing all the videos!!
Hello last Friday i bought my first small car ever. A 2016 Kia Soul. Thought it make a fun little camper. Then went on youtube seen a few where single people live in there kia souls. Fold seats down put thick foam mats down over the seats. I had thought be better if rear seats were gone as well as passenger seat as well. This in mind. Giving all that much more room. Then I came across your site and was impress that you did and what I thought from the beginning.
Can you put a link in the description for the cutting board? Please and thanks. Love the setup.
Seize it. I love the place uyou started was creating dirt. Had to do alot of that here my dirt was in rock form lol
It's a pity I could put just one thumb down for loud stupid music
Speaking volume? Turn the music down!!!
Where’s the speaking volume? You can turn down the music!!!
Those screws are so tight . Right at this moment my seats are hanging by 2 screws I cannot loosen. I will have to wait for a friend to help me
Interesting - Maybe remove the back seats! Only - Myself for camping trips with son !! Use Roof box for storage! Hmmm ... I dont need a costly another van after all.
Cool - I cook a lot from my car and being tall - Its a pain !! Niffty swinging table idea - Hmmmm Cheers!!
Oh my. This is exactly what I was wanting to do with my kia niro. Thank you so much for making it seeable⭐👏🏻💖🥂✨
Very Kool...I have the same Soul (& color) that you have. Neat ideas!
Love your statement about these challenges being an 'OPPORTUNITY'... all things that appear a tragedy or trial are a test.... for any man or woman to have a testimony. Have Fun! (An old school teacher's 2 bits).
I wish you had shown how to disconnect wires and remove from seat. A discussion of air bag issues would be good to.
I think it's illegal to remove the air bags.
Great insights and classy....could you suggest the areas where I can park and cook....i mean without being worried about ...is it allowed here?
I use an app called iOverlander it is a crowd source traveling app that gives you places you can park all over with how safe they are and great tips.
