To simply finish the Atlas Mountain Race means navigating 1,200 kilometres of the most rugged and remote roads in Morocco. To win requires riding almost non-stop, night and day, for days on end. It is a combination of strength and sleep deprivation that only a few riders in the world can manage. Alone, unsupported and loaded down with supplies, each competitor must constantly battle mechanicals...

What does it take to complete one of the most gruelling and epic mountain bike races on the planet? Find out Wednesday May 20th at 21:00 CET at the premiere of ‘Into the Rift: The Story of the Atlas Mountain Race’.
14:58 - as much as I enjoy that there are sport events like this, it is actually quite dangerous to exercise that long without sleep, I remember newspapers writing about people collapsing, being dead after 68 hours of playing video games without sleep, sometimes less in the early 2000s. I feel like there should be rules for this race like you're not allowed to ride for more than 36 hours without at least 6hours of sleep or I don't know, something like that. 😬
If someone was able to finish a race on a cargo bike, he has good chances on a fat bike!
He could have drunk that bottle of water faster.
That’s just amazing. I hope I can do this one day 🤞
Super impressive effort on a brutally tough bike race Cynthia! How many miles were you doing to prep for this race? Any other training insights you can share?
This guy is just a pure gem as a person and a strooong cyclist! Wow, simply wow!
Great job Cynthia, and all racers, and thanks for the post race interviews. I am really up for some actual race coverage, like the in-race course change at the top of the climb.😮
🌟🎙 What an inspiring interview with Cynthia Carson! Her journey to victory is truly motivational.
ohh thank you!!!!
tinkering with cleats and saddle just before a race can be a true hazard. glad it didn't cause any problems to you.
definitely questionable.. but I needed to make the change and it worked!!!
Congratulations Cynthia , sounds like you set a great pace and got to enjoy the race 💪🙂
thank you so much!! It was a fun one!
Brilliant
🚴♀🌟 What a captivating cycling adventure! It's a privilege to add such a high-quality video to our collection. Hats off to you for the amazing content! 🥳
23:10 he could do with a movie on his bars. Iphone on the bars and press play 😂 or maybe not
🤙🏻
Magical!
Walking your bike over rocks? Dumb route. There aren't enough roads for you in the civilized world? Anyone with any sense should boycott this joke.
There are plenty of road races in the 'civilized world' as you say, for people who can't handle off-road and don't want to widen their horizons. We'll carry on going to beautiful places that may require some carrying of your bike over rocks, thank you very much!
Riding 87h. Sleeping 1,5h. That's beyond unhealthy. Still a tough achievement! Can't believe a body is capable of this torture. Nice documentary!!
He's a machine.
@@rottieshepcalibre9156 obviously!
Its a mindset
No issues with assembly for me th-cam.com/users/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L but I could see where some might benefit from using an experienced bike assembler/mechanic. I'm an older rider starting back after a 10 year break. This bike exceeds my capabilities and has been easy to get comfortable riding. I'm mostly on easy trails with almost no street riding and have not been disappointed with the performance of the bike. My fitness level is far below what I previously rode with and because of that the mileage is going on the bike slowly. While I'm losing weight slowly, the bike seems to tolerate my 220 pounds just fine. The bike has been used by several family members ranging from 5'5" - 5'9".
Modern-day flagellants? Looking for redemption? For what sins?
Why wear black in the desert???
Hey guyz... Were the participants staying in accomodations or what was the sleeping arrangements?
Exceeds expectations!
Amazing video 💪🏽

Fantastic!!!
2021. Here in Austria we just started our mist recent lockdown. I. In my basement ticking over the kilometers. Thanks for such a wonderful motivating movie.
The behind-the-scenes footage of this would be _amazing_ to see. The logistics the media team(s) had to manage to get this great footage I expect is epic.
nice film, awesome race congratulations to all
One question: Do the riders sleep at the checkpoints, or do they carry some tents, or bivouac sacks?
They all carry a sleeping bag and either a bivy or tent. They are also free to sleep in hotels/guesthouses, etc. along the way. As long as its commercially available to all riders, it's ok. The checkpoints do also generally have accommodation but can get very busy.
Absolutely nice !!!!!
Beautiful.
Awesome vid
will never understand why these guys ride chain bikes and not belt bikes. For me it's like trying free riding down a slope with cross country skis.
Epic! Hopefully can join next year or next 2 years 😅
Congratulations to any rider that even attempted the race. The dedication and courage it has to take to start is incredible. This has to be one of the best if not the best cycling video I have ever seen. Look forward to seeing more when things return to normal.
The scenery of the bike riding course is so beautiful. I'm honored to be your best channel friend. Have a happy day. 👍👍👍🤙🤙🤙👌💯
a bunch of first world cyclists cross such a beautiful country without having any contact to locals, yes, its a race, I know. and they will say: ahh I will come back and enjoy Morocco without racing. at least the filming could have included the beautiful people of Morocco.
There is always one guy…. Don’t be that guy.
This is not that type of event
Only masochists need apply.
24:40 This is why derailleurs are primitive technology.
Really, really well done film, great job by all... type 2 and 3 fun are the best kinds of fun!
Espectacular 👌. Está aventura MTB estoy deseando hacerla
Amazing!!
It takes a frenchman to do this kind of event and just casually take a smoke.
Definitely one of my favorite moments.
😂😂😂😂
Never hear of type 3 fun...Great term
Only if you are a Looney
