The initial batch of the Sagamore Port Finished was great! I haven't tried the 3a

@@atxbourbon I am not a huge finished whiskey guy, but the sag port is delicious. 6 yr rye finished for 3 yrs in port barrels, so 9 yr total. That and the sagamore VDN they just released are my two favorite finished whiskeys I have had. And if you haven’t tried it their own distillate is fantastic too. The bottled in bond and their newly released small batch is 100% their own juice

@@atxbourbon it’s really good stuff. Wish I had easier access to their products, but if you see the 6 yr BiB or the new small batch that outlines it is 100% 4-6 yr sagamore distillate I highly recommend

Just curious, how long do you think a bottle of bourbon is good after being opened? I see you have a pretty ridiculous collection. Figured you’d be a good person to ask this. The internet is pretty divided on this question

The way I look at it is that whiskey changes in the bottle but that's part of the experience. There are scotches that are aged for 70+ years. People go nuts for 80s and 90s bottles that clearly have imperfect seals. Have some of my bottles that were open for a few years lost some of their punch? Yeah but some have gotten better. It's just part of it. In general I try to finish bottles relatively quickly when they get below half especially if they are lower proof
