Nope ...... have never heard of this pipe. Ya, getting briar during the war was almost impossible. Thanks for the history lesson Chris. Hopefully someone out there has one of these pipes and comes forward.
@@brianquilty687 Hi Brian! That would be great! Honestly I could perfectly live without briar; there are many other good materials out there!

😂 I thought, I've heard almost everything there is to know about pipe materials... now, I won't be surprised if someone has attempted mixing clay with briar sawdust... or perhaps there are falcons with clay bowls😅 Great episode, thanks for sharing! Enjoy your smokes!
Well, we all heared about Brylon? And it might come as no surprise that there are Briarschaum pipes in another catalogue? 😅😅 thx for watching, there is more to come! Smoke well!

Smoked turkey flavored pipe? What? 🤣
@@MillennialCodger yes, you heared right! A smoky kind of sweetness...whatever that means! 🤷🏼♂️
i have held for years a pronounced disdain for synthetic pipes. on an emotional level i still do and probably always will, despite trying to take a more chemical and analytical view. clays color quickly, though perhaps not beautifully. and in my youth i have smoked a couple of pressed meerschaums from Pioneer. are they not synthetic too? i have yet to define just what i mean by it, but a hybrid of meerschaum and kaolin certainly is. right now, as i wait for my wife's check-up to be finished and while i smoke this lovely briar filled with burley flake, i am more and more comfortable with the idea of the mixture of two or more materials to be synthetic. and pyrolytic clay, too. that crap is nasty.
@@thedreadtyger I'd say as long as there is no plastic involved like those Brylon stuff I am fine with it. No chemist here but clay and meerschaum sounds a good combination 🤷🏼♂️ ...and the pipe has that turkey flavor too! 😅 hope the check up went good! All the best!
😊👍👍

I'd take sweet and nutty over lakeland essence! I must stop buying UK estates.... every single time perfumed de lakeland! Who says meerschaum doesn't ghost?!!!! 😅
@@chillaxe9603 especially when you know how the lakeland essence is produced 😁 everything ghosts! Especially if you smoked Conniston Aromatic!! 😅

Must be rare find Chris, hope someone comes through with one,
Clay pipes sound like they have an interesting history. It’s my understanding that the clay Tavern pipes that are very long were used and then the section that the person had in their mouth was broken off before the next person used it. That’s why they were so long so they could be broken off several times. Thank you for sharing. This is a great idea for few segments!
@@carolinarose704 Hi Rose! 🙂 I just had a duscussion with some friends about that tavern pipes. I don't believe that those were broken off. I think this would have been dangerous...putting the sharp edges of the broken clay to your lips? In a place were pripa ly loads of alcohol was consumed? But who knows! I was told they even made pipes with markings or groves where to break it off 🤷🏼♂️
@@BrutalEnough yes that’s what I heard. Also that there were grooves to show where to break them. I suppose it’s possible they sanded them down a little bit? OK, editing my answer because I just looked it up again. One place said they did not break it off for sanitary purposes, but once in a while, they would have to break off the tip because the tar and nicotine would clog the hole and they couldn’t draw through it anymore unless they broke it off. Of course I don’t know if that’s true or not, that’s just one source of information.
@@carolinarose704 what I know for sure is that clay pipes make excellent smokers! If you don't have I highly recomend to look for one to give it a try! 🙂👍
@@BrutalEnough I do have some, I just have not used them too often. I still have to revisit them.
