I beg to differ Marla was not the third alter ego. It was Jack. How can his love interest be in alter ego? I think Jack was the third alter ego, the guy we never seen but was the who other person in the house where Tyler and his other self eventually lived, even though Tyler lives there before his softer self knew about the place. He was the one who did all the writing. After his apartment was destroyed remember Tyler was shown to have taken himself to that house. So did "Jack" live there before Tyler but Tyler never got rid of his stuff or his writings? Jack was the literary calm before the emotional storm

In my mind there are two terminator movies. It ended at T2. Cyberdyne was blown up, the arm and the CPU were destroyed, Dyson was killed and Judgement Day was avoided In a sad way, I think the best thing Cameron could have done to maintain integrity of the franchise and essentially keep it a classic was to have Sarah killed by the T1000 and to show John as an old man living off the grid If anything they could have made a spinoff where they focused on Kyle Reece’s life post apocalypse…which salvation tried to do but it also missed the mark

Embracing androgyny is NOT saying "farewell to his masculinity." Study developmental psychology. Gender identity is NOT a binary; it lies on a continuum. Most people are androgynous. MEN need to recognize that and stop being so hung up on being a "big strong man with a great big penis." Of course, embracing androgyny means WOMEN ARE NOT INFERIOR. Men who are afraid to embrace their feminine side have serious problems.

This video makes a mistake. The first implication that Durden is an alter is IN THE FIRST SCENE. In fact, the narrator tells us Durden is an alter. He says he knows about Project Mayhem plans BECAUSE Durden knows it. The only way one character can know something BECAUSE another character knows it is IF THEY SHARE ONE BRAIN. I caught that the first time I ever watched the movie. There is no twist in this film if people pay attention to what the narrator says in the very first scene.

  • @do9138

It is NOT crazy to infer that Marla Singer is an alter. There is a lot of evidence to support that theory. If she is, that changes the meaning of the film. The way modern men should cope with the recognition that having a penis doesn't make them better is not to become hyper-masculine. It is to embrace the androgyny that characterizes most people.

Doctor Who is nonsense, particularly the new woke version. They've crossed their own timelines so many times they had to invoke hokiness. It'sime Quantum Leap. "God" controlled the jumps is ridiculous, particularly since he was never ever allowed to leave. Also, Biff was never "good" in 1985. He was a suck up. There's a difference. Or old Biff wouldn't have been so bitter and told young Biff to kill Doc Brown and/or Marty. The whiskey thing has no altered causation. In other words, that whiskey was probably always there in every version of 1955. It's George that wasn't originally at the dance to drink it. However, the notion one tiny drink of punch with a small amount of liquor in it could radically alter George's behavior is a bit of a stretch as is him seeing Marty's hand, of which there is no evidence, particularly when Marty tells his rug story to them and George looks legitimately confused. If he knew Marty was his son, he wouldn't look that way. He'd be winking at him or something.

The problem is that the 2nd movie completely dispelled the entire disappearing photograph theory. Forget how Buff could return to the same future. Doc Brown is locked up in a insane asylum in that 1985. He didn't send Marty back in time so none of the stuff with Biff in the future could have happened in the first place! That's why that Doc Brown brings up the alternate timeline (alternate universe) theory of time travel on the marker board to explain it. The problem is that the two theories are mutually incompatible with each other! It destroys the entire premise of the first movie! No one should have been disappearing from that photograph! It's from an alternative timeline (and so is Marty or else he'd turn into "spoiled Marty" that the first Marty sees at the Lone Pine Mall along with the photograph and have all the memories too! In fact, the book version mentions Marty having two sets of memories to try and explain it! He was just thinking of his original memories when he first sees the house and parental changes. The best version of time travel was the original two (the 3rd woke movie destroys the first two movies so it should be ignored) Bill & Ted movies. Anything involving time travel happens first every time so that nothing that happens affects anything it didn't already affect. Bill & Ted always have their own help, always see themselves at the Circle K, etc. The future CANNOT be changed. The 2nd movie proved this as the time travel trick only works for the winners, which means the bad guy could never affect history. It already happened and will happen. There can be no paradox for that reason. There is only one timeline and one universe and no disappearing anything or alternative timelines. That is until the 3rd movie makes it about everyone (woke BS) instead of Bill & Ted's music as the first two movies categorically state (with no mention of the universe ending).

I find this "threesome" hypothesis really compelling - it rings true for me. Given that "The Narrator" is an *unreliable* narrator, certain details *could* have been "manufactured" for us, the viewers, to make it even more confusing/labyrinthine for us, such as the men all turning to look when Marla walks into testicular cancer. This could also have something to do with Finch's choice of how to present the material. For example, after the flight where they met, "The Narrator" is waiting for his luggage (and then talking to the baggage guy about vibrators) while Tyler is stealing that guy's red sports car - surely those two things COULDN'T have happened simultaneously, especially when we see "The Narrator" taking a cab home to his bombed-out apartment. Was he *imagining* Tyler stealing that car and the guy yelling "That's my car!!"? Remember in the old house on Paper Street when "The Narrator" remarks to himself that "It's just like when I was a kid and my parents were divorcing - I was carrying messages for them" or something? Mommy issues, Daddy issues - in the bathtub, Tyler responds to "Who would you fight?" with "I'd fight my dad." So these two - the masculine *and* the feminine - are in play in "The Narrator"'s increasingly fragmented sanity, and they're VERY real. To him.

Maybe the book, not the movie. She is clearly his feminine power animal. She does too much interaction with the outside to not be real. I think she is both. Real and power animal. I think the, Marla is jack, is very weak. I do think at the end he kills the man inside and becomes a bitch. Not a woman, a bitch. Marla is his alpha. I think Marla, the person was fighting tyler for power over Jack. The points you make are super weak at best. If anyone is another personality it Jack's boss. That's the parent personality trying to push thru to socially correct him. Tyler flashes at work.

Accurate masterpiece? Doc Brown has to be wrong about how time travel works in regards to splitting timelines and creating new futures. Consequences appear quite loose and should there be 'timeline clones' if someone comes from a non-existing timeline? In back to the future 2, Old man Biff changes the future by changing 1955 with the Sports Almanac, creating what we find later in the film, a dystopian 1985. However, He shouldn't be able to return to the 2015 that Marty and Doc visited and return the Delorean as Old man Biff split the timeline when he traveled to 1955. The 2015 we see in the 2nd Film should disappear and Marty and Doc Brown should have been wiped out, much like the photograph of Marty and his brother and sister. Otherwise, the stakes shouldn't have been that high for Marty in the first film, as in real time when he was affecting events in 1955, he was simultaneously wiping out the 1985 he had original come from. That is of course, unless there is a time limit, a window of time where new and old timelines can co-exist together, to allow old man biff to return to the 'original 2015 timeline' that he left while the events of old man biff in 1955 haven't fully realized the 2015 dystopia timeline that he should actually be returning to. With that said, all timelines did exist as people have memories of them existing. Marty should have disappeared like in the photo from the first film, as he belonged to a timeline that 'vanished'. With that said, Marty and Doc Brown come from a non-existing timeline. When Marty returns to 1985 in the first film, did the new timeline Doc Brown get rid of the new timeline Marty? Because new timeline Marty wouldn't be the same as original timeline Marty and there would be 2 versions of Marty wandering 1955, before the 2nd film has Marty returning to 1955. Doc, having memories of Marty coming to the past 1955 would have known that if he sent his 1985, Marty to 1955, it will affect the original timeline Martys interventions. At the end of the first film when Doc Brown gets shot and Marty goes back in time- it's not the original timelines events we see. it's a new timeline with a new Marty and another Delorean. Sending this timeline Marty back to 1955 would create more chaos. Heck, The new Doc from the end of the first film didn't need to create a Delorean as Marty was returning with one. In the dystopian 1985, the only functioning* Delorean to exist is the one that the original timeline Doc Brown had created as by this point, he was commited to a psych-ward in this timeline.
