For somewhat over 2 years now I own a 1991 Peugeot R660 2.5D semi integral, with 198000km on the clock, so in july 2025 it will be 34 years!! It passed the MOT without a problem 3 weeks ago and being the third owner, and the previous owners treated the car with respect, it is in excellent condition. As you mentioned, it is slow but reliable, it has brought me from Belgium to Italy and back with no issues crossing the Alps slow but steady. You just have to adapt to the limitations of the oldtimer, not the other way around because that is impossible. Once you adjusted to the limits of the engine everything is just fine and you'll enjoy the warm interior of real oak wood instead of plastic and cheap veneer, a royal size bathroom and a real bed. Without the alcove air resistance is a lot less which translates into less consumption, about 10 to 11L / 100km. Still very happy with it and looking forward to a trip into Portugal somewhere this spring. I enjoyed the video by the way...👍🏻😉.

I daily drive a white Golf 4 Variant with the 1.9 TDI for about 2 years now. Definitely not the most luxurious car but reliability and practicality, it will never let you down, plus the design still looks great and modern even 20 odd years after it came out

Do you have to accelerate when driving off or can it drive off on its own if you slowly release the clutch?

Very nicely geared, a 1999 VW T4 1.9 TD is going way way more rpm at 100 km/h, probably doing almost 3000 rpm at that speed.

This exact car was actually sold in the US as the Jetta Wagon, it was the same thing as the Golf Variant but with the front fascia of the Jetta/Bora. I would love to find one, especially with a 1.9 TDI and manual transmission.

Hab exakt den selben wagen:-) bei mir funktioniert der vordere Schalter für das Fenster hinten links nicht. Der Schalter hinten am Fenster funktioniert allerdings. Weist du was das Problem bei deinem Wagen ist das die Schalter nicht funktionieren?

I have just bought a 30 years old Citroen c25 HymerCamp with a 2.5D engine, so basicaly the same car as you drive. I have been searching for a video like this for quite some time before having made the decision, but haven't found any good one so I just followed my intuition. There is a lot of 'van tour' stuff on YT, showing the insides of a stationary car, but only a few where the car is actually moving and making noises (you don't say much about the noise which is a constant backdrop for the beautilul views on the road ;) ). Thanks again for the great video!
