I bet. Started seeing shows spring after this. Burned the tapes of the whole run out for years after. Wish I would have caught them in 83 at cuse dome w/ the band. What was the crowd like during the band?
@@Stonecrow25 They had everyone's 100% attention and energy. I got into the show last minute. Literally, seconds after I stepped onto the floor they walked on stage, so it was all that more amazing for me.
As one of my favorite bands ever i just cant stand the hate and the way people have taken sides over the internal issues they had as a band , as if anyone really knew what was going on. People tend to idolize musicians as if they were the person they’re talking about in their songs when the fact is that most of them are egoistical self centered individuals who get way too much credit for what they really are , Musicians. Add to this success, way too much money , drugs , women and people who ate basically using you at a young age and the equation is a disaster . Only after they grow old and have lost a few real battles the real person comes out of the shell and mostly since they’re all pretty sensible people a lot of nice things things come out. They’re on league of their own and its pointless to tale sides. Just trust the art and never the artist , otherwise it’ll always be a lost battle. Get over it and enjoy the music they created together
That clunky, square sound is distinctly Canadian. Canadians don't groove. We sing like we're standing in a lineup and it's 30 below and our mouths and faces are practically frozen.
I HAD YOUR ALBUM THE LAST WALTZ BUT SOMEBODY STOLLEN IT ME I WISH THAT MR. DYLAN WOULD SAVE THE LAST WALTZ FOR ME MOST OF YOU MIGHT BE DEAD BY NOW REST IN PEACE YOUR LEGACY LIVES ON AND TO MR. DYLAN I WISH MANY MORE CREATIVE YEARS HE IS MY MAN
Grateful Dead & The Band - What a New Years to remember. I hear Garcia was a complete party mess, hanging out with David Crosby, among others. I think the freebase, and the dragon were running amok backstage. All 4 shows of the Deads were awesome, and this set to boot on NYE. Those were the days! Thanks for the upload, and the memories.
Levon Helm pulled out of the 1966 tour with Bob Dylan to go work on an oil rig. Robbie was the one to invite him to Woodstock after that gig. Enough said!
Right on!!!! 62 here, but aging quickly....... maybe it was the acid..... maybe it was the pot..... maybe it was the beer...... but I played music professionally and wrote great songs and spent most of my life in the recording studio------ I am poor, but I LIVED my life!!!!! (surfed a lot too!!!) the heck with greed and corporations------ ain't nobody got time for that!!!
Great upload!! Thank you!! But I have no love for RR. Greedy person. Regardless of what he wrote it would not have been the hit it was without Levon. Just my opinion!
The soundtrack to0 many a PPLs Lives.... The World has Lost another one of the greats a few months ago.. One left standing ,Alive and well in London on .... Tha⁷nk- you all who made our lives a little beter in the world
As good as Robbie Robertson was at guitar, and as good as he was at writing songs (and he was REALLY good at that), he was the one guy you could take out of the live lineup and have the minimal least impact. All of these guys were so talented... all of them could have started, led, and starred in their own bands. It was like a supergroup.
Started, led their own band. Perhaps, but they didn't, they didn't have the ambition. Richard had major alocohol and drug abuse problem from his teen years. Levon and Rick also had drug problems, mainly heroin, it tends to get in the way of being creative and productive. Robbie did drugs as well, but not heroin, and music always came first with Robbie. I love all of them, especially Robbie and Rick, so I'm not being judgemental.
@@hannejeppesen1809 Well, of course... those guys weren't going to go out and start their own bands at that point. I'm just talking about talent, musical ability.
Richard is on point, so much better than his mid 70s performances. I think The Band in the late 70s early 80s produced some of the best performances in their careers. They just ooze music. I miss them.
They sound as good if not better without Robbie. I wish they would've picked a famous guitarist to replace him, and recorded new music.
Thank you so much for sharing this 🙏🏽
Sounds like the Hee Haw edition of Skynyrd.
One of the best Bands during the 1900`s ! I miss all of them! Daniel from Stockholm, Sweden

If you havent seen it, you must watch Once Were Brothers.
Robertsons solo work is my favorite.
Robertson was not only a visionary and wonderful musician, he was also a wonderful person.
Are you his mom?
I saw this lineup (with the Cate Brothers Band) in West Palm Beach in 1984. Levon was absent though (having some throat surgery, as Danko explained).
How did Garcia not come out for Mystery Train, that's his jam!
Levon helm musical genius with his rhythm the the band would have lacked something special

Great version of It Makes No Difference, the very reason Rick Danko edges Levon as my favorite Band member.
HARMONICA IS GREAT TOO LIKE BOB DYLAN PLAYS
WHERE IS ROBBIE
YEAH THE BAND YOU ARE SIMPLY THE BEST BAND

They will never die. Keep them in your hearts.
