I really liked the pvp ground battles it would have been so cool if they added it to skywalker I really miss it
This game was by far the greatest game of its time in my opinion, do you know any similar games like this? I used to play this so much on my ps3
Well, it depends. If you're looking for Lego games similar to this, I'd try The Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Caribbean or Harry Potter. If you're looking for a Star Wars action-adventure, then The Force Unleashed is a good choice
14:23 I'm bothered
Welcome to the nerd club!
Hell yeah EaW I still fire it up for the space battles from time to time
I like this but I wish there were Rebel and Imperial story campaigns. Also Mon Calamari really should have been included in the story campagin map IMO because committing Piracy there lets the Consortium build the Nebulon-B Frigate my favorite canon Star Wars ship. Also I wish the Starviper had been an advanced fighter rather the the Consortium's basic fighter because two of my three favorite Star Wars starfighters, the Novasword and the T-Wing are either from the OT er or the Prequel era and known to be used by pirates or bounty hunters so I wish one or both had been part of the Consortium fleet. Also I find it odd that in the Consortium Campagin they start with access to the tartan Patrol Cruiser. I understand why they don't have access to their Crusader Corvettes yet but of the other factions starting anti-fighter capital ships IMO them having CR90 Corvettes makes more sense because the CR90 is the most common Civilian capital size ship in the setting. In fact IMO the same reasons they don't have Crusader Corvettes at the beginning of the campagin can apply to the Starvipers as well so that's another reason for them to have a non-Mandalmotors starting fighter. The rebls gain the MC30C which is my favorite new ship in Empire at War so I disagree that they don't gain much in space.
Well, that's a lot to respond to - thanks for your comment! Regarding your last point, I agree I should have phrased it differently. Between the MC30c and the B-Wing, the Rebels do get some good capital ship killers. I'm just more interested in star destroyers/dreadnoughts than smaller ships
@@thecynicalgerman I'm the opposite. I use one Star Destroyer size vessel per task force, two for the Consortium sometimes. By typical Rebel Forces of Corruption has 1 MC80, 3 Assault Frigate IIs and an eight to sixteen ship mix of Nebulon-Bs and MC30Cs plus a couple of Corellian Gunships and Missile Corvettes. And that's not an unusual mix for me. Usually if my fleet in a game doesn't have tons of Frigates its because there's some rule limiting how many I can use (In which case I either still use a few, or as many as the game will allow depending on the nature of why I'm limited).or I haven't gained access to any yet In a 4X type game for example most of my larger then Frigate ships are either for flagship duty, carrier duty, or there are some weapons or gear too big to effectively mount on a Frigate which they are carrying.
I like half life 1 more.
An absolute childhood favorite of mine. This was the first game I was following before it came out, thanks to an extensive preview in PC Gamer magazine.
Sidenote: I am your 612th subscriber. I took 2 years of German in high school, and became close friends with our foreign exchange student. His name was Marcus and he was from Hamburg.
Thank you! Maybe I should make a couple of videos in German then :) The magazine era was really cool. I'm still subscribed to a couple of German gaming magazines because I love reading on paper
My recording software messed up the game's audio, so I used a couple of pieces from Arcania's soundtrack as a replacement. Everything will be back to normal for the next review.
I wanted to play that game with a friend. But it doesn't support online multiplayer properly and my drivers don't support the game anymore, so it lags like shit even though I run a 3060. Age definitely is the main problem.
I really appreciate your review and effort. As a confused person, I can say that the differences between the Java version and Bedrock are small. They both have multiplayer servers and can go back to the old versions and mods can be downloaded from them, but with your help I can say that I will download the Java version.
Thanks for watching :)
Very good Video, i loved the Clone Wars Lego game! I am happy for you that it gets the views you deserve! 😄
Thank you. I have no idea why the video is suddenly doing so well but I'll take it :)
Why do people say they don't like the ground battles? What could they have done differently?
@smugplush well, yes, that is definitely an option, but how should the gameplay itself improve?
This game is what got me, originally a console player, into strategy games and eventually getting a pc for more strategy games like the paradox games and the men of war games
what sort of insane person plays a lego game with a keyboard
🙋♂️
4:10 Use the "Move on" command to order all squad member to leave their post at once. F4 on PC, probably a D Pad direction on controllers
1:56 This is why B2s seem OP to you. You're not supposed to use the rifle against them, use the sniper while scoped. If you have an EMP grenade, that + the scoped sniper will drop them in a few seconds even without your squad. The game admittedly fails on instructing this to the player.
Definitely, but I was talking primarily from a canon perspective
Instead of running back to pull them off their assignment you can just use the Form up command and that will automatically recall the commandos. If I remember right that is
I forgot exactly how but at 4:05 ish you can recall all commandos or give certain orders by holding one of the d-pad buttons, I forgot which one
Really is a shame that a game that’s… (holy fuck nearly 20 years old!?) never got a sequel. It was perfectly set up for a sequel and yet it never got one. Not even an HD rerelease or remaster, nothing. Just dust and echoes…
I do think there's a chance we'll be getting something like this in the coming years. Battlefront and Dark Forces have already been rereleased/remastered
The ground battles are epic no one can tell me otherwise
crazy how this game is so much better than skywalker saga
havent really finished this game but i've had a lot of fun playing it. I don't mind the graphics at all and i honestly think they should make a sequel to this about order 66 or something.
It's funny that you mention it because there was supposed to be a sequel called Imperial Commando but it was cancelled very early in its development
@@thecynicalgerman damn that sucks
Great video, I’ve been waiting for it.
Thank you. I'll try to be a bit quicker next time
@@thecynicalgerman Take your time, quality over quantity.
I like Star Wars: Republic Commando
I loved this game, when I used to come home from kindergarten, I would play it with my mom, I used to think she knew everything about the game and I always died or had no idea how to play. I remember I got stuck in the targeting screen where you can’t move and she had no idea, I was so upset, then 5 minutes later she figured it out just to make me happier. This game was my joy every time I came home. The General Grevouis level was so hard for Kindergarten me. I remember falling off the map so many times on both that map and the map where you used the evil R2D2. I miss this game so much, it reminds me of better times when I had no responsibility.
Bro dosen't like any games 😂 I like all Lego games.
I want to be a critical channel first and foremost. But it's not like I hate the game, a 7/10 is a good score
@@thecynicalgerman yeah i know, are you like this when you actually play or only for the video? Do you think about all of these when you play?
@@gordonfreeman2634 Yes, I'm in "reviewer mode" pretty much all the time, I take down notes etc. I still have fun when playing but I can't enjoy games in the same way I used to anymore. It's a bit of an unfortunate side effect
@@thecynicalgerman I don't understand why you do that if you don't like it. I just play games and like them lol.
@@gordonfreeman2634Lego movie 2 is complete garbage
I fee like you said that boss fight and some mission are stretched out its a Lego game what do you expect? all of the mare like that and that is what makes it fun and the pc controls are just fine for pc main players.
It's more apparent in some games than in others. For example, I didn't complain about The Complete Saga and The Clone Wars feeling stretched
7:42 that isn’t a bug, you’re supposed to build the colored stairs the other direction so you can jump and get the house crest
Oh, that makes more sense. I'll give it a try!
I think also not every character can fly a broom
You guys just listed the two things I was going to mention. It’s been awhile since I played the game but I remember Hermione was always jerking around because she wasn’t as talented on a broom. That was one detail I thought was cool, among many others because they did provide some fun extra bits I didn’t expect. The 5-7 one is way better though because they took all the good things and made them better.
Calling things roguelikes is getting out of control. There's nothing rogue-like in this game, no more than saying Mario Kart is a roguelike because the powerups you get are randomly selected from a list.
Roguelike is a genre, like RTS, 4x, RPG, etc. It refers to the gameplay style of dungeon crawl with no save/reload and how you restart on death, attempting multiple playthroughs with some element of randomization. Roguelite is when you on top of the gameplay loop add empowerment with each playthrough. If every start of a playthrough has the same base its a Roguelike.
This is really similar to the music community arguing about genres. While i agree people take it too far, you should instead focus on educating people instead
@@Nathan_Moor there is almost zero randomization of the levels. Unlocking features is too broad to qualify as a roguelike because almost every game has those. And besides, unlocks are what makes a game not like rogue. VS is at best trivially random and isn't an RL any more than any other arcade shooter. You are in almost full control of how your VS game plays out, there is no surprising random variety. The only random factors in this completely on rails game is the set probabilities of level up options. VS has nothing in common with Rogue. You are scripted to die at a certain point that is literally anchored in time. The levels are static. The enemies are static. The position and prevalence of items is very strongly deterministic. It's not a roguelike. And by your definition, Tetris is a roguelike, and so is Minesweeper and SMB1 and Duck Hunt.
Also, most critically, roguelike games end up with massive relay value and get more interesting the more you understand them. VS is a great game, but it's the opposite. It's the same thing every time and once you know the game it's fully mindless and replay value drops off a cliff.
I understand that roguelike and roguelight are genres. But you are incorrect about calling VS to be in either of those. It's an isometric bullet hell adventure shooter. It's an arcade style mobile game with low choices, almost zero randomization, and fun flashing lights power fantasy that ends at a scripted time.
this game was awesome and the hub world was huge witch gave a freaking great ambiance i did it at 100% multiple times
Have had supremacy matches that went on for hours… finally winning or losing was gratifying no matter the result, especially if you defended your starship successfully multiple times
Best Lego Game ever !
The ground battles were by far my favorite feature of the game. I played it so much when I was younger with my brother.
A function that wasn't mentioned in the video is that you can also battle against each other, which was the most spectacular thing for me
Where is he in the game at 11:27?? I have never seen that room
It's been so long I don't remember 😂. It could be the bounty hunter mission on Coruscant
@@thecynicalgerman oh interesting I gotta play it again because I don't remember seeing that place ever! Thank you!!
This game along with Lego Star Wars 2 was my childhood via the Ps2 although I've lost both versions and I'm hoping to get Lego Indiana Jones the original adventures to go with Complete Saga to have those old games back even if one's updated
I do like this game however I am a fan of a few things in Lego games, the 10 minikits to collect per level either with expiration or puzzle solving, a stud collection that is rewarding and looks good, and a great level design with creative puzzles and levels that can last for more than a few minutes Indy 2 does have at least one of these things, the stud collections, however is lacking in the mini kit area and the level design since your usually locked in one area and not a lot of exploration with only a few different mini kit levels compared to the story levels
This game was my second Lego game after Lego Star Wars 2 via the Xbox 360 however that version was lost until around a few years ago when I got the Ps3 version of this game and now it's my first Lego Star Wars game that I 100%
Best lego game, i loved the rts mode especially
Main thing I hate about galactic assault is that the heroes are any era, breaks what otherwise is great immersion
That's why Supremacy is the GOAT
Thanks for the review. Sucks that the last movie was missed off. But that being said, that movie sucked the most. How many players can play this simultaneously locally? Can't seem to find that info.
Two players in local co-op
I'm glad this is portable to the Xbox one. Because all of my roommates and me play this game constantly. We even have people come over and system link so we can play it more. Since we have it on two systems. I really wish they had a battlefront 3 that was like this game
I like Star Wars: Dark Forces Remastered
