I love Bayla!
aku juga
Where can I find this Dounis scale?
How would you recommend practicing this for someone who does not use a shoulder rest? I must use part of my thumb to support the neck.
Matur suksma
Meditation massent by thais please all of it please 🙏 🙂 😊 ☺️
Thank you for the videos on posture. Would it be possible to do a video on posture while sitting?
I’ll practice this while I sing in the Choir on Sunday and see how it feels . This will be great practice for violin practice . I’ve always remembered to “ bend my knees “ to promote circulation
Genius advice, as always!
Right! The bow plays the fiddle, not the other way around.
Fantaastic. And it is so funny. Thank you🥰
Geez, I really need to learn this. I usually forget to breathe.
Thank you for very useful videos! ❤ Is that possible sometime to have a video of vibrato? 😊
Embracing the violin and breathing, TQ maestra.
This is so beautiful❤❤❤😮😮🎉🎉bravo
valued vid , Thanks a lot!
Good video. I have been monitoring my back muscle during practice with live camera and it is rather helpful. On the recording though, I find my left shoulder blade is always a bit forward, less so on e string and more so on g string. It is rather hard to play with a neutral left shoulder blade. I have noticed similar pattern in all professional violinist I got to observe so far. Is this part of violin play, even it puts left shoulder into a forward position. Leaning backward helps but my lower back does not like it.
It is really amazing teaching ❤❤❤❤❤
Just play without a shoulder rest😅
Why?
How did Nathan Milstein hold it?
Milstein never held a violin, the violin was simply an extension of his body
great advice.. most of my tension is in my shoulders too. i wonder what if we try playing with our backs or shoulders on a wall if that might help too. but thankyou for this wonderful advice.
Thank you very much for sharing your so valuable knowledge! You feel a good teaching the same you feel a good entonation on your violin after applying properly the technic you've been taught.
Thank you 😊
I have a lot do of pain in my left shoulder after starting to play the violin 😢
Excellent!
Thank you. Mechanics and ergonomics all wrapped into one. The genius is in its simplicity.
Grato!

Too many posture problems. I call it quits😢😢
Keep working on your posture. Violin playing has actually helped my back pain.
Rang the bell! Love this Dounis Scale. I call this concept 'incongruence', where some sort of variation is baked into the exercise without having to concoct anything. I keep running into so many examples where the incongruence idea can be used to supercharge an exercise or the practicing of a passage. I don't believe this scale is written down in any of Dounis's materials, is that right?? Thanks for the wonderful demo and I was glad to learn about this scale from you!!
This is such invaluable advice to relax more because of the (extra) freedom you get when your head/neck is not tense. It can transform a player, together with enjoyment of playing the violin, and cannot be taught enough, plus we forget to relax! Thank you! ❤ (I had to start thinking about this when I had severe neck problems and wish I had had a teacher like you!)
Thank you very much for sharing such valuable information!!! I'm a violinist in a smaller German orchestra since 2008 and try to teach children and adults. When I try to solve both my own problems and their difficulties I often come to similar solutions as shown in your videos. So either it's a good way of playing or at least I'm not the only violinist doing this mistakes. Without joke: Your way of playing WITH the whole body works very well. And for all young violinists out there: We can't be grateful enough for these possibilities of High-Level violin education. When I was a student we always had to travel to see some lessons or had to pay a lot of money for attending masterclasses to get some of these information. (And quite often we didn't get them!) Thank you very much again, Prof. Keyes!!! All the best from Germany, Thomas Brogsitter
Can you make a video of playing meditation massent by thais please all of it please 🙏 💜 ❤️ 💗 😢 😊
Abby and Grace, thank you for the part you play in the videos. It feels like I am in class with you.
I am thankful to you for teaching "energy" exercises. I also love how you talk about the anatomy of the body and posture to prevent injury. As a beginner this is priceless information you share. I think about the 'figure eight', 'petting the kitty' and 'playing into the belly button' all the great wisdom you are sharing in all the videos when I am practicing.
Thanks so much for clarifying this concept of scything in this video. 🙏🏻🎻
Dear Baila, you are a wonderful person!! Teaching with so much heart and good will ! So many very clever ideas you have to improve the playing on this most beautiful instrument !! I would so much like to meet you at the Kotel, where your heart will open up with wonderful feelings many people like you get there , please come here to ירושלים, where your sole comes from !! I go there often and want soo much to meet your wonderful personality!! Love you
Sabina's violin resonates so beautifully. That is no ordinary intermediate violin. I've listened to some videos of MIng Zhang violins and that sound has such a haunting echo. Amazing
Gracias por el contenido. ¿Qué libro de Dounis usan?
Bayla, the pain in your thumb is exactly where my pain is. That's why I'm hear learning how to deal with it! Thanks!
I am more than stunned, first, how detailled your advices are, and second, how fast they improved my playing. Great education! Pls keep pn doing this great content!
Thank you very much, Lord bless you and for your time. I learnt Carnatic violin, and now I’m learning Western violin. I’m 62 years old.. Task is big for my age but your video clips teach me soo much.. yes, I have some hope to learn the 4th finger and the double stops.. Thank you again, shalom. From Sydney, Australia
❤😊🤗🤗🤗🎶🎵🎵🎵🎻♥️
Having a son with mussel problems due to playing violin I would love to have had exercises and way of explaining as she does. Excellent!!!!
