In Memory of Ken Cross

My Step Bro Ken Cross Born January 7, 1953 Died November 13, 2003. His life was filled with sadness and he became dependent upon drugs. Mother & Charlie did their best to help him through those painful tines, but to no avail. He was hooked on these drugs & unfortunately lacked the will & strength to fight the temptation. A Warning, DON’T TAKE DRUGS! To this day I miss him, particularly on the a...

An exciting band of experienced professionals; making up an 'individual' jazz quartet with an increasing profile in London. Led by ex- TV/Theatre MD, Composer, GPQ has it's own style throughout but covers a lot of areas (it's fun and works well with a cross section of jazz audiences). A huge repertoire together with sound FX and ambience appeals to differing crowds including Post-Bebop, Cool, A...

An old life long school chum, Phil Lancaster kindly offered to drive me Wells, Somerset to experience a nostalgic visit to the place I once lived in the 1950's. Supposedly I was evacuated there during the Second World War, but I discovered later that the math didn't add up. But during this time my innocent life was filled with happiness, something there is little of these days. During this trip...

this band's music came through the radio like a ray of warm sunshine on a brutal winter day...color in a black and white world. there were not many "rock" bands that featured a saxophone in the mix and Dennis added a unique texture to compliment the compositions of DC5. I am so sorry he passed on so young, but what a life! what a legacy of sound he has left behind for us to enjoy. Thank you!

  • @60march

I used to visit Ronnie's so many times when Ronnie was there and giving his usual repetoir of dreadful (but hilarious) jokes and playing sublime jazz with his band. I feel so lucky to have witnessed so many greats of jazz there. Although this is a great upload it is also appallingly sad looking back that Ronnie was cursed by depression and took his own life after he could no longer play. But what a legacy. Love you Ronnie.

The DC5 would be just another band without the bad-ass saxophone sound of Dennis Payton. He was such a huge presence on those earlier, more successful albums. That last bit that he said at the end of this video was so brave and a very caring thing to say to his folks, so that they could move on. Respect!

Great job on this tribute to Dennis Payton. The Dave Clark 5 were my favorite group growing up. With Mike Smith's vocals and keyboards and Dennis on saxophone and vocals - it didn't get any better. I'm almost 68 years old. Dennis was way too young to be called home. What a great guy and all of the great music. God Bless. Roger (San Diego)
