Milking Jersey cows with Surge bucket milker
Where do you get the coffee beans?
Do you make your own hay?
Ive got to say and I dont want to insult you but your boning out leaves a lot to be desired….. I would get sacked if I boned out that dirty…. Maybe you’re boning out that way just for the video…. Also they were the strangest cuts of meat Ive ever seen….. how could you make money with so much meat going to burgers? Im not trolling you by the way I still enjoyed the video.
Nice gardens!!
Kullandığınız testereyi nerden alıyorsan bizede adresini verirmisin ustam
bet thats good milk
A old dried out lean cow being cut. Who eats that crap?
Nice video reminds me of my youth
great video. I've been wanting to see the cuts when processing with only a hand saw. thanks!
How do you know when the bucket gets full so it doesn’t have milk flow into the pump?
What time do you want me over for dinner?
Did I miss something, No stripping?
Thank you! This was very helpful as I am contemplating getting our first family milk cow. So happy to see you are strictly grass/hay!
Sir I'm butcher butcher . give me any wark
Great video, thanks!
Is that a mini bulk tank in the background of your shop?
It is a 30 gallon Milkplan cooler tank.
How do you like it? Do you find it to big for your two cows? We are looking at getting one for our 3 cows.
It is too much for two cows. I bought it when I had 4 cows and wanted to sell milk. Should be good for 3 cows. I sold it last summer when I went to two cows. Worked great and chilled the milk quickly.
also do we need to water them?
we put down hay couple yrs ago and planted, but nothing came up. Can we use the same hay and try again? Do you recommend adding something to the hay? thank you
My hay is from the lean-to where the cows spend the winter, so it has manure mixed in. This gives them enough fertility and moisture in the spring and the ground never really dries out in the summer so I don't water them. Your hay should be fine if it's old and moist. Seems like your seed potatoes may have been eaten by mice or just rotted. They usually start even in poor soil.
Thanks for the video, I’ve come back to it several times in my early milking journey.
Using your video to do my first beef tomorrow 👍great explanations
Glad I can help. Thanks.
We used your videos to butcher our first steer this week. Your videos were the only ones we could find that were easy to follow. Thanks for the great explanations! Only screw up was trying to find that front shoulder bone.
I was forced to keep things as simple as I could because of limited time. There are much fancier and trendy methods out there but this way gets it done well. Thanks for the comment!
Cool Video
Those "2 steaks"... flat iron and who cuts a Mocktender into steaks? Is it good? Also get that grizzle out of the center of the flat iron , they puff up while grilling and man sooo good
Now I just put them in the grind pile. They are tender but the flavor is not all that impressive and since I can't sell any meat it really doesn't matter that my burger is made of cuts worth $15/pound retail. Growing and butchering for yourself is very liberating. Thanks for commenting.
What is the name of the pulsator? Hamby is sold out of the set up you have. I found a bucket and lid but looking for the other parts needed.
It is an Interpulse L80 if you're still looking. Sorry for the slow reply.
JOHN, i'VE SEEN ALL YOUR FILM CLIPS....VERY INTERESTING AND INFORMATIVE. KEEP THEM COMING!
I'm interested in where you got your milking system. Can you share that in the description to your video?
I purchased my surge bucket milker from Hamby Dairy Supply online. I got the one cow system.
Thanks for this video . I am wondering about the surge Milker . I am try to get my hands on one but none seem to have the pump with them . Would any pulse pump Work ? Newbie alert . Or do you have any suggestions of what to look for ?
I got mine at Hamby dairy supply online as a kit and the vacuum pump was included. It should work fine with any pump that is regulated at 12-15 inches of vacuum and has about 3cfm flow rate. HVAC vacuum pumps look like they would meet the requirements and are pretty cheap. The pump I have is a Conde long life and sells separately for over $1000. Last I checked the HVAC was under $100. Probably will get one as an emergency back up.
@@middleveldfarm7736 thanks so much for this info
I will be making this for the grandkids this winter. Thanks for the idea
May i suggest making it significantly lighter. Unless you want to carry up a hill over and over
Hello sir, do u make a hole in the soil or do u plant just on top of the soil your potatoes? Also could u tell me which other crops's shoots can poke through hay? Thanks alot!
I make a hole through the hay into the dirt a little bit, but the seed potatoes just basically sit at the soil level. Garlic will push through the hay easily and so will tulips. Anything with a bulb or tuber will. The rest of my transplants need the hay pulled back a little and they get planted in the soil.
@@middleveldfarm7736 Ok thank you!
Genius
Love your channel, great content. Keep up the great videos!
Thanks. Just having a lot of fun up here fighting the northern New York weather. Winter does not want to give up this year!
When you did this, did you plant directly onto hay? Or did you plant in dirt and just deep mulched over with hay? Thx
I planted through the hay down to the soil level and then added a few more inches of hay mulch on top. Before it settled it was about a foot deep.
Nice, I’m going to try this method this coming year. I’ve got lots of used hay and manure from my barn. I’m in a high desert are where temps get 100+ in mid summer. Only question is how do you water? Do you use sprinkler, drip, or just let the hose run on them. Also how much, keep it moist all the time without molding? Thanks for the video..👍
I don't water my garden at all because my spring well dries up by mid summer and I have to haul town water till the fall. Even on a dry year the soil stays moist and the plants grow well. Not sure how moisture gets back in the ground under the hay, but I think it wicks in overnight. If I could water them I would just use a hose with no sprayer.
You ever milked cows before this?
I have been milking for about 4 or 5 years
Living right my friend
Nice job John
Great crop. How did you fertilize it?
The hay is used bedding from the cows winter pen and had alot of manure mixed in. I didn't use any other fertilizer.
Nice looking beef been hang in chiller 4 week
4 weeks is about the longest I can do without climate control, but I think a week or two more might be better.
What are you looking at? Not the same as me. This meat has zero marbling chew forever
thanks for making this. Like your treatment of your cows.
Thank you so much
Brilliant.... well done!
Thanks for the information. Earned my subscription
where did you get the clear inflations for a cow?
I got them from hambydairysupply.com
Show me how you made your cooler
Everything looks great!
Nice potatoes, do you know what variety they are? They almost have the colour of sweet potatoes. Ek wonder waar die naam van die plaas vandaan kom?
They are Red Norland. I have limey soil and most varieties of potatoes get scabby here , but these are scab resistant.
how do you prevent the hay from blowing away in the wind?
It mats down pretty well and stays put even in the wind. Never had it blow away.
Thank you for sharing very nice potatoes
Great job
Who told u that you can guide... you even don't know that sharpest knife is the basic tool to do this skinning job .. strange man...anyway... nice video
