33 Miles - A Devils River Kayak Adventure
A kayak camping adventure on the Devils river, one of the most remote and pristine rivers in Texas. Fed by crystal clear spring water and surrounded by spectacular cliff faces, it is an amazing place!
Watch as we kayak 33 miles from Baker's crossing to Pafford's crossing, showing drone footage of Dolan's Falls, Three Tier Rapid, Dandridge Falls and the beautiful canyons and caribbean blue water along the way.

what a brutal and beautiful journey. we did the full 47 miles an it was epic. we got done a day early and had to wait for the water taxi so spent a whole day hiking bluffs and exploring caves. little dragging no walking at all, i didnt even flip over at all, everyone else did though. we found one piece of trash that was it. so who ever lost there coconut sparkling water can , i got your back.
I'm planning on paddling the river next early summer. Thats some of the best drone footage I've seen from doing research. Thanks.
We did four days and 3 nights earlier this year. Aside from quite a bit of walking and dragging the yak in shallow water (over rocks and boulders that are somehow both slippery and shin scarring sharp) it was about the most beautiful stretch in Texas. It was on my bucket list for more than a decade and glad I finally got the opportunity as it has gotten more challenging to get on the river.
Man, I want to be on this river! Excellent footage! I'm a chick but none of my friends are up to go from Houston and kayak fish/camp with me. They're scared of the rapids & rattlesnakes. I'm going anyway and hook up with Fatties on the Fly.
Can’t find paffords crossing on the map any tips
Great video! Did yall stay at the designated camp sites or made other arrangements? I noticed yall had a fire going on the first night and the state website mentions no fires at designated campsites.. camp is no fun w/o a fire! Any info is appreciated!
Just beautiful.
3/4 MOA rifle shooting at a 2.5 MOA target. And shooting from a stable position. No sweat.
Wwwwaaaauuuuu super
The devil's river is beautiful. Really cool video.
A ranch hand from the Devils River area told me a "wopper" of a snake story one day at Loma Alta. He was all night fishing at Devils River State Park. He left the river canyon the pre dawn driving up the dirt road. He topped out when he noticed a huge post in the road which he decreed was moving. At one point, the slowly moving diamond back stretched across the road. He stopped and got out of his pick up to find a large rock along the road side; all the while, the snake was making toward the dark. He found the rock then noticed the size of the serpent coupled with the limited visibility of the head lamps which made him reflect: what am I doing ? " He said to himself referring back to girth of the Rattler! So there you go. Every garden of eden has a serpent! Thanks for the excellent video.
I hope to go here with my daughter one day.
Was down there mid September last year. Buddy caught a 10 pounder, big Ole boy!
Ha somehow I manged to get down one of the rapids forwards
Great drone footage. I also enjoy the views of your campsite. We are heading out there mid October 2022.
What month of the year is the best
When did you go on this trip?
Where do you camp there?
LOVE it and the drone work is great!!
How is the coosa when standing up?
It is pretty good - not as stable as the bite though.
That trip looks awesome!!! Where did you guys start push off and come in?
What is the best month to kayak this river
How were you able to get out on the side of the river without getting shot?

Kayak camping is the dream!
Just admiring the drone footage then I happen to see my grandparents house at 11:03 crazy
That's cool!
Great video! What’s was the flow when y’all went down?
I think it was around 150 at Pafford's crossing
Texas is really an amazing state has a lot of hidden teasures.
We as JWs enjoy the outdoors
Hey man this looks awesome! We’re planning a trip for next month and are wondering if y’all were able to leave a car at Pafford crossing and shuttled yourselves
I don't know if you can leave a car there or not. We had a shuttle service.
@@Outdoorsman222 How do you get the shuttle service?
@@Outdoorsman222 how do you get the shuttle service? Planning on doing this in November for my birthday 🎂
You should know before he gets that close if you want him or not! That’s a beautiful bull!
Going down in mid April for a 5 day trip. Anything you recommend to take or that you took and didn’t need?
My buddy and I did this last month on 21st to 23rd but a unexpected cold front bringing low 30s temps caused us to take out at the paddlers camp before Dolan Falls. Bring good water shoes, kayak leash, WAG bags you must bring and use. Also I would bring a extra paddle and some repair kit for the kayak too. Be prepared to do some walking though. Some rough rocks out their. It was fun though. We can't wait to return when the river flow and weather is much warmer to do the entire trip.
Johnny has a good list started. In addition for recommended: Jet boil stove for coffee and heating water for freeze dried food. Pump in case kayaks take on water.
why no shot?
We had seen some larger bulls and passed on this guy
How difficult is it for a beginner kayaker?
I would not recommend it for a brand new kayaker. Start out on lakes and flatwater
Beautiful 😍
Beautiful drone footage of the devils river! Would you mind if I used a clip from this video? I would credit you as the original creator.
Sure you can.
@@Outdoorsman222 Awesome! Thank you so much 😊
Thought you couldn’t have fires
Absolutely Beautiful 😍
drone footage is beautiful...what a float that must have been
Thank you! It is a wonderful place.
Beautiful river! Thanks for sharing your trip. It would be nice to get some more closeup shots with the drone as the kayaks go through the rapids.
Started in coosas and ended in bytes? We did this trip 3 years ago and will be back this October.
Yes. Our adventure was split into two trips. On the first, we rented the Coosa and then decided to buy the Bites for future trips.
I love the video, specially the usage of "So will I" in violin, i would to do a trip like this one.
Thank you!
at 11:22 Indian Face rock appears! on the right side of the river the first plateau under the water. if you position your kayak right it would look like he's trying to snack on you lol
Very cool. I had not noticed that before.
Thank you for sharing. Great video and great trip
Thank you Steve
This is what it’s all about right here. Glad you and Colby lived it up! Thanks for sharing this wonderful trip
Thanks Gatewood! We had a blast
I got the scope on MidwayUSA. It is the Weaver Tactical 3-10 x 40 mil / mil scope
RRA uses wilson arms barrels right? Not wilson combat but wilson arms
To the guy below me, maybe he doesn't want people to know where he was. Most places around here are already grossly overfished.
This video needs some help. It would have been perfect if you had shown: A: strikes B: the whole fight C: take out unnecessary pics in the middle of the video. They would be fine at the end.
Wow this is ASC right? I have vids on my channel of me shooting there. I have a RRA as well.
i really want a four wheeler so badly !
