I'm glad that I could help
share your screen blops 6 beta
Also who is this tman you speak of he seems like a really cool guy
haha you showed up
Dislike for the gameplay not being good might i suggest overwatch or the finals
maybe some warzone in the future
Nah the creator ain't got time for that
we got plenty of time
Really good series, I think that now i have basic tools to make something on my own
I'm glad that it helped you
İ had a problem; Entry point not found
hmm if you join the discord I'll help take a look at it with you
@@FFDEV me too where can i join the discord and ask
@@David-ou2fu its in the description
this error is coming again and again . error: invalid initialization of non-const reference of type 'sf::Sprite&' from an rvalue of type 'sf::Sprite'
can you show me the code that is giving this error
also if you keep having problems i have the discord in the description, I can better help you in there
Simplify and organize before you try to show something.
I appreciate the feedback but this is about as simple as it can get for codeblocks
wonderfull man thanks
I'm glad it helped you
How do I change my theme in codeblocks?
there's quiet a few videos online about it, its not too hard. you can either search on youtube or on google. i found a dark theme online and just replaced my config file with it
I compiled m SFML form source code using cmake. Mine all works until I take the exe to another computer and then it can't find the libgcc_s_dw2-1.dll library. I even compile it as static too. Have you come across this?
when compiling from source from what I've seen you'd have to do it from each computer because of different compiler versions and things
I originally compiled from source but found this way much easier and accessible for most people.
@@FFDEV Yep but I wanted it to run on a computer without a compiler, from the exe, but it complains about that missing library. I mean you don't want to make a game that only works on my computer heh heh.
@@TheTimeProphet I see what you're saying, you need to paste the dll's in the folder with the exe. if its just the runtime for lets say the debug or release you gotta make sure that you include the dll files. but if you're wanting to open it and run in on codeblocks on another pc it will need a compiler as well
@@FFDEV no because it was asking for dw2 lib, but in my mingw I only had the seh version because I am using 64 bit version. Also you are supposed to be able to statically link gcc to the exe without adding the libraries manually. It is no good downloading this library from another source either as it won't be compiled for my version of gcc.
Thanks for posting this, seems really easy and straightforward to make it work?
it should be, if you have any questions feel free to ask

you earn a like at least
haha thanks
how did this work?! Even though my folder did not have SRC in it it still worked, thx so much! Anyone else here for COMP4300 - Game Programming - Lecture 04 - Intro to SFML + Assignment 1 by Dave Churchill> 😂 Guy can teach but expects us to figure out these small stuff
you don't have to have a source folder, I just think that it helps with organization. I got into the habit of using it from watching Cherno videos lol
Can someone please show this man some love for what he does for as HIT THAT SUBSCRIBE BUTTEN!!!!!
I appreciate the support man
I'll be releasing new content soon about 1 month left of University then I'll be doing more series
Bro, in the last 2 videos of the tutorial you made a lot of changes not during the video. I'm trying to follow it, but it is pretty hard. I'll try to get this going (i'm only 6 mins in and so far I can sort of guess what to do), but if I cannot do you think you can provide the source code? I'll let you know how it goes tho.
F.e. you changed in this video variable server to be a pointer to ENetHost, while you used " enet_peer_disconnect(server, 0);" at the end of your code in previous tutorials. enet_peer_disconnect expects ENetPeer* as first parameter. Maybe you go over this later but its a bit confusing
it feels like im missing an episode tbh
okii i managed to get it working, thanks for this tutorial! <3 Although my point stands, good to keep in mind imo
@@keshy5756im glad you got it working, thats why i had the last video where i changed everything to make it work right. there were some errors occuring later with how it was done the first way
@@FFDEV Yesterday it was working and today it isnt lolll, but its sending the packets. Idk, I will figure it out though! I just needed a start to get the connection and from now on I think I'll manage, I'm not making pong anyway so I just needed a template to base on. Thanks a ton!
Thank you bro, this tutorial is exactly what I needed to get started with my SFML Multiplayer project. Much love <3
you're welcome anytime, I'm glad that it helped
The error you were getting was from spelling m_Shape like m_spape you mixed up the h with a p
Why is it so hard for the great minds that make these cool libraries to add a small video showing how to set this shxt up geez, not all of us are geniuses that can understand all the crap they add to the documentation lol. Thank you good sir for making this video!!!
lol honestly I use chatgpt now to tell me how to setup libraries and what includes to use and where it works pretty good
@@FFDEV that’s a great idea thank you, I’m using cmake to do all the heavy lifting for me at the moment but I’ll start using ChatGPT to help set stuff up for sure hehe
Thank you

sorry for the oversight im linking it in the description now
Really great video, explains the core functionality and how it works for people learning SFML.
Thanks I appreciate it
please how did you implement the hitball function? I could not find it, my ball is penetrating the paddle. I have tried to do it but the logic behind it is confusing. kindly help me resolve that. Thank you Sir.
I lost the code to that video due to a hardrive error however i believe the function is void Ball::hitBall() { m_DirectionY = -m_DirectionY; }
It is working. Thank you so much! @@FFDEV
I gotta say it’s like an entire college class on c++. It’s honestly a really good series. I’m enjoying it so far and it’s detailed and simple at the same time. I have never understood coding topics more than anything else. The way you explain everything while going through the series is the best way I’ve ever learned.
I appreciate the kind words
You are very underrated. This is really good.
Thanks man I appreciate it
Oh I see it thanks broooooooooooo
I hope it helped you
Broo just send me video or something like that that how can I setup SFML pleeeeaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
I see you found it
My #include <SfML/Graphics.hpp> line isnt working correctly.. says it cant find the file
you'll have to refollow the setting up sfml steps
you need to add include the include folder kept in the SFML folder you downloaded. You will also need to link the proper libs and dll's. To anbody that may read this, I strongly suggest that if you can, use something like vcpkg to install SFML. All you need to do is run `vcpkg install sfml` then once that is done run `vcpkg integrate install` and that includes, links, and adds everything arcoss the board for all VS projects.
You made it simple and on point
thanks
Thanks for taking the time to put this out there
anytime man
Nice tutorial
thanks
Thanks for the tutorials!
anytime, I hope they are helping
Very helpful
Very informative! Can't wait for the next video.
I'm just going to thank you in advance. I don't know if it will work, but you're my last hope Obi Wan! (Even if it doesn't work, thank you for trying!)
hopefully it works out for you
It worked bro. Thank you so much! The other tutorials didn't specify putting ".lib" at the end of library files in the Linker->Input->AdditionalDependencies entry, so my project was looking for *.obj files during linking. My green circle is beautiful. @@FFDEV
@@castlerockcode I'm glad I was able to help you get setup, good luck on your projects
2:44 I don't have this option on my visual studio, but I have the C++ workload selected. I'm unsure why this is.
I see I see, to fix this you need to right click on your project and go to properties instead of the solution, the project will be whatever you named it. I hope that this helps
@@FFDEVokay I was able to get it working. For some reason the window keeps crashing, would you know why?
@@AngelofD000M if it closes right when you open it its because you dont have a game loop, it needs to be in a while loop that has a condition like a key press to end the window
@@FFDEV i put it in a while loop exactly like you did, and when I pressed play on visual studio, it shows the command line, then it shows the window, and right after the window pops up, it says the window has crashed.
@@AngelofD000M hmm im not too sure on why it would be doing that
Thank you for this knowledge 📖📖📖📖
you're welcome anytime

Followed this through 5 times, pausing at each step to ensure I had everything done correctly, spelled correctly, correct versions, correct file orientation, properties settings etc., have searched online and in the SFML Docs, and ChatGPT, but no matter what I try, no matter what tutorial I use, or what computer I am on, I always end on either dozens of errors, or "error C1083: Cannot open include file: 'SFML/Graphics.hpp': No such file or directory". I am using the latest version of Visual Studio 2022 Community: Version 17.8.2 on the x64 Setting (which I accounted for), which I installed all of recently on a clean install of Windows 11 OS with Visual C++ 2022. What could I be missing here? Where else can I go for help?
ill try my best to help you join my discord when you can ill post the link in the description of this video
Please I am using vscode not this type. I am finding it difficult to set up sfml on it. I am getting an error that states; SFML/Graphics.hpp: No such file or directory . Kindly help me set up tp foolow your tuition. Thank You!
I've never setup a library with Vscode however chatgpt may be able to tell you how to do it
I have tried it for months, getting errors with the header files. @@FFDEV I guess i would have to download Visual Studio
Start of a big story, huh? :)
ive taken a break since ive learned so much more now and have actually rebuilt the engine but I am finding multithreading to be quiet difficult in sfml due to how sfml handles the contexts. it may be easier to just go with opengl or vulkan unless I wanna keep this a single thread engine. However the project I was testing with is a unlimited generated 2d world which could really benefit from an extra thread
I've been through so many tutorials but this was the first time I actually now understand what header files are for, thanks :D
I'm glad that it was informative and was able to help you
