The "shrieking" as you call it is part of the concept. They are j-horror onspired. Shes portraying herself as an Onryo and that shriekin scream is basically that dieing woman horror movie scream. She also wears mostly black or white dresses, dances around distortedly like a possessed person (of course thats also because of her raw awesome emotion), shes mostly barefoot even in life performances, her hair covers her eyes pretty often and she has that red thread wrapped around her hand and foot wich is a symbol for faith and human connections in japanese folklore. In that kinda vein you can consider them a theatrical band. Oh and btw tgat last track from the album is in my opinion on par with the first track. The sun shines upon all alike. It also has a really good and artistically expressive music video that enhances the emotional impact of the song quite a bit. I have a feeling had you seen that song with the video you would've had more of a connection to it like with the first track. For me into my darkness took some getting used to too and overall. Would give this album about a 9

Been raised on Nightwish for 20 years, I would say this is better than any album before Once - I'm not one of those nostalgia early NW stans (while I do love it). Right now I would put Yesterwynde as their third best album, only behind Once and Dark Passion Play. Human Nature was already a big step up from Endless Forms as their prog metal evolution, and Yesterwynde continues further. It definitely their most progressive and experimental work, challenges any expectation melodically, harmonically, stylistically. Symphonic metal at its most integrated, it places you right at the centre of the 100-piece orchestra, choir, band and vocals... I never thought the vocals are too low, they're always easily audible, and I don't want them raised to dominate and sacrifice the instrumental intricacies. Also I love blackgaze and atmospheric metal where the vocals are sitting underneath the music and very washed out. Interesting you mention this as an album for a Opeth fans - Nightwish and Opeth are both my favourite bands of all time, quite above all other bands I love.

It was hard for me to know what you thought of tis song until the very end. Yes, these women are extremely talented and this song was a heavy bass funk driven progressive song with a solo right out of the jazz-rock fusion genre that was popular back in the 70's. One thing about Gacharic Spin, expect the unexpected because they will throw a mix of genres into their song writing blender and somehow make it work. Also, they are one of those bands that are even better live with high energy that is sometimes off the charts. I'm rather amused by your comments about Miyako being emotionless while playing. She was more animated early on and in more recent performances but that was her thing for awhile. What I find amusing is you two are exactly the same way. No matter what happens in the video you just sit there with no immediate reaction. Not a dig, just an observation.

Lovebites being put in a certain style is kind of a insult to them. Much like Band Maid they take a little from each and add their own twist to it. But they are heavily influenced by Iron Maidden. At least when Miho was in the band. Fami kind of gives them a bit darker sound.

Really enjoyed this reaction. And I was happy to sit through the nearly 40 minutes to hear three LOVEBITES songs with an insightful commentary across them all. I was lucky enough to see them live last week at a 650 capacity club show in London. Standing just a few feet away from the stage, they were as brilliant that night as they come across in these videos. And Asami the vocalist is as good a “frontman” as anybody I have ever seen. She has the whole audience in her control from the moment she walks on stage.

Love these ladies, subjectively the best 🎸🤘💃😎 Just commented on your more recent Lovebites vid, when you mentioned Spurts of notes between sections of songs, this guitarist came to mind immediately. She’s soooo able to play whatever, but mostly serves the song, which in their case is only sometimes metal, but they ask her for a flurry in other instances and she can really deliver. Yes it’s most often funk bass oriented (play to your strengths!), but they are soooo versatile and prolific, the core 4 of them actually have multiple signed bands/brands, with this one being the oldest, primary, catch-all for the diversity. Whether it’s the prog keyboard solos and Latin street drumming like this one, or mixing metal kick drumming with dance/disco hihats, or punk guitar with clean piano, or choreography whilst performing the guitar leads, or putting humorous skits and sarcastic titles with beautiful heartfelt ballad harmony vocals, they’re not afraid to try anything to be entertaining, and in fact are basically known for the super high-energy chaos of putting it all in at once in many of their songs. Not for everyone. But Wow 🤯

I’ll have to think about it upon relistening to Megitsune too, but I basically never noticed that, consider that a masterpiece track. And it reminds me of Pantera saying if you write a song with a great breakdown, just make a whole song out of the great parts?! 🤷‍♂️ I have heard that Miyako being the introverted bored cucumber might be a schtick. My guess is it’s natural, and might have a touch of “recital” to it (as opposed to wildly rockin out), and maybe then she was coached to embrace it, own it 👍

Lovebites music is a mixture of their different influences from I guess the past 50+ years of rock and metal so to describe the music of being a particular genre is doing it a bit of an injustice. You can definitely hear influences of Priest and Maiden but there is also a Gary Moore influence in there as well, who Miyako is a big fan, even through to some classical music for the Melodie’s and structure, and not forgetting a bit of Sabbath, Zeppelin and Purple, it is a mix that just works. As a 64 year old that was a teen in the seventies, I have heard a lot of music and Lovebites is new and different, bit like when I heard Lamb of god for the first time, I was very impressed because it was new and interesting, I still believe that the 70s were the golden era for good music and occasionally some good music does pop up but very rarely. 😂😂😂

Miyako, the quiet guitarist, is actually a classically trained pianist starting at age 3 and she didn't even start playing guitar until she was 18-20 years old! I'm sure Miyako had so many classical performances where they are supposed to be non-emotional in their performances and relying on their skills to be prominent! I love that she makes us all feel like kids to her playing skills! She encourages me to practice more and get better!

let me say my opinion about your 2 videos........cant every band find a new kind of metal........all bands remind someone else........I agree about that it's not exactly power metal because it has many genres......as they say they play Heavy Metal........all their songs have musicality and are different from each other.......like these 6 songs you heard .........and it's the most interesting group I've heard in the last few years.........they take the old metal which i like and make it kind new.......
